Chapter 6

A/N: I should be working on Majokari chapter 3 because I know supershipper4ever will kill me if I don't but I thought of this idea and I just had to update this story. And yes Kana you are a character now, and don't worry your pretty badass if I do say so myself. But enough of my blather, onwards with the chapter...

*****

Two months later

Kalina let out a war cry as she charged at Zero with a flaming punch, her hand engulfed in white hot flames. Zero easily sidestepped and whipped out Diamond Dust. Kalina quickly dodged the bullets before summoning a funnel of water that blasted Zero sideways.

Zero's feet never left the ground as the spell merely pushed her back, no visible marks or scratches on her. "Try a little bit harder you'll get somewhere eventually Kalina." The crimson haired girl knows Zero's just egging her on but she couldn't help but feel a deep burning hatred in the pit of her stomach from Zero's taunting.

Kalina then conjured Crimson Blitz into her hand and charged this time unleashing a spray of bullets that Zero easily defended herself with by throwing up a barrier of shimmering blue energy.

"My turn!", Zero cheered as she charged towards Kalina at blinding speed before throwing a punch into the air, a large hand shot forward from a blue energy glyph. Kalina gasped before she cartwheeled out of the way and fired a few more shots at Zero.

Zero effortlessly dodged as if she were in a ballet, dodging the bullets gracefully like a swan as if she was some kind of Mami Tomoe. Kalina smiled as she did away with her guns and casted her next spell.

"CANILU!"

Kalina drove her fist into the ground a surge of red energy poured from her hand into the ground straight for Zero. The white haired Demi-God could only gasp in surprise as a crimson red magic circle appeared at her feet and out came the dark reptilian heads of Hydra, the Spinner of Destiny. The heads of the Infernal Demon coiled around Zero trapping her in a vise like grip.

Kalina cheered at what she assumed to be a victory. "Yes, and now for the final--", before Kalina could finish her sentence a great blast of light from Zero completely vaporized the heads of Hydra leaving Zero once again uninjured. "Not a bad strategy, your getting good with your summons as well, but try not to loose focus in combat."

"Right, sorry about that", Kalina apologized to which Zero responded with, "it's fine, but if your going to do a summon, this is how you do it", Zero began much to Kalina's dismay. "Oh no", she said in a whisper.

"PDEE BARMA!"

Kalina shielded her eyes as Zero's her whipped around and dove into a portal. A few seconds later another crimson red portal opened to reveal a large female like demon with a swallowtail butterfly like appearance. Kalina had read about this demoness from the Book of Infernal Demons that Zero let her use for her summons. This was Madama Butterfly, the Mistress of Atrocity, draped in Zero's white hair.

The demoness looked down upon Kalina and clenched her fingers into a fist as she prepared to slam her fist down upon Kalina. Kalina only had time to through up a spherical barrier as the Madama pounded on Kalina's barrier.

Just as Madama Butterfly was closing in for another attack Kalina dropped the barrier and tossed several streams of flames at the demons whilst throwing a brigade of ice shards at Zero. Madama Butterfly jumped back at the flames whilst Zero merely deflected them with a gust of wind.

"Enough play time, let's end this Madama B!"

Kalina raised her eyebrow as Zero suddenly charged at her with speed so fast Kalina almost couldn't keep track of her speed. In a panic Kalina began launching fireballs at every turn, but Zero weaved in and out of her maelstrom of flames and before she knew it Zero had reached her.

"Flock off!", she shouted as she delivered a swift electrified uppercut that knocked Kalina into the air, her body now numb from Zero's lightning. And before Kalina could so much as utter an incantation Madama Butterfly brought her fists down upon Kalina and blasted her deep into the earth.

The demoness vanished in a flash of light leaving Zero to stand victorious among the rubble. "That was a really great match Kalina I actually worked myself out a bit."

When Zero heard no response she got worried. "Kalina!?" Zero ran over to the crater only to find a coughing Kalina with dirt caked clothes scrambling out onto the floor. "Sweet Jubileus Zero did you have to go that overkill?" Zero's face blushed a bright pink as she blushed sheepishly. "Sorry sometimes I don't know my own strength", she explained as she helped Kalina to her feet.

"How are you so good at summoning, weapons and hand to hand combat, and magic!?" Zero shrugged as she took out a lollipop and placed it in her mouth. "Lot's of practice, and tons of near death experiences."

Kalina chuckled. "I guess you like the strongest aren't you, perhaps even stronger than Bayonetta?"

Zero thought about it for a moment before shaking her head no. "There was one witch that from the Witch Hunts of Vigrid that was incredibly powerful in the Bayonetta universe. She was an excellent summoner, a zen level master at combat and magic. She might even been stronger than Bayonetta had it not been for the Left Eye."

This really piqued Kalina's interest as she wanted to know more. "And just who was this all powerful witch."

Zero looked at Kalina dead in the face before replying, "the old European Witch Queen. Nightingale."

Nightingale!? Kalina couldn't help but feel a whole lot of familiarity with the name. As if she knew who it was and yet didn't at the same time. Very perplexing.

Before Kalina could ask Zero anymore questions about this mysterious Nightingale Zero's phone began to ring. Zero looked at the phone and blushed as she answered it. "Hello."

There was some murmuring on the other line.

"No I'm fine, I was just training with Kalina."

Some more murmuring.

"No! You tell Kana to stay away from my secret stash of candy your supposed to be my boyfriend! Defend it!"

The mumbling on the other line intensified making Zero's face blush an even darker red.

"Honestly to say such lewd words over the phone, I'll talk to you later", and with that Zero hung up the phone and turned back to face Kalina.

The crimson haired girl only chuckled at Zero's predicament. "What's the matter, trouble in paradise?", Kalina asked. Zero shook her head, "more like I'm gonna whoop Kana's ass for eating my secret stash of candy, all my pocky, my secret chocolates....gone."

Kalina could only glance from side to side as Zero silently cried to herself. "Um, you okay?", Kalina asked worried for her Demi-God friend. At first Zero looked at Kalina with faux tears before her face completely froze. Kalina knew by now that Zero has some sort of built in sensor where she can sense if something's wrong with the balance of the universe, Kalina remembers she says it has something to do with the Trinity of Realities.

"Is there a demon nearby?", Kalina asked coming in closer. "No, but there is a demon rift and that poses an even more dangerous problem if demons step through or lures people in." Kalina nodded in agreement, "so where is it at?"

"In a old alleyway downtown", Zero answered. Kalina could only smile mischievously. "Then what are we waiting for."

*****

Taking a quick ride on Angel Slayer downtown Zero turned the motorcycle off as they parked right outside of an alleyway. Zero turned to Kalina. "You ready?"

Kalina smiled as she showed her guns Crimson Blitz already in hand waiting for their magical power to be pushed to the limits.

"Then let's do this."

Walking down the narrow alleyway Kalina and Zero beheld the rift of swirling energy that felt a lot more powerful they the previous ones they'd close together in earlier weeks. The demon inside this rift must truly be a powerful one. Kalina's grip on her guns tightened.

Walking through the rift Kalina shuttered as a chill crawled up her spine. When Zero and Kalina made it successfully through the rift both of their eyes widened at their new surroundings.

Rather than a cold dark dimension or something out of a child's nightmare they were on a bridge in some sort of temple. The sky around them was gray colorless swirling energy, everything so dilapidated and ancient.

"I don't think this is a rift", Kalina spoke softly. Zero turned to her. "How do you know?" Kalina shrugged. "It's just this gut feeling I have that I've been here before. Follow me."

Zero thought this was a bad idea but followed Kalina anyway across the bridge. The strange temple had tall columns and pillars depicting all kinds of creatures and man through the ages. Some of them were happy good murals, and others not so pretty.

But as they were passing one large corridor the mural on the wall caught Kalina's attention. The mural was on a great battlefield, demons led by a man in midnight black armor charged from the depths of hell to the surface, humans weeping dead, but from above bathed in a warm glow were woman with weapons in hand in battle dresses. Valkyries, Kalina realized.

But the Valkyrie leading the charge got Kalina's attention. She had light long blonde hair, and had four pure white angelic wings to signify her status as leader. Kalina couldn't help but feel a deep attachment to the woman, as if she was someone she held close to her heart.

Kalina went to go take a closer look but Zero grabbed her hand. "I know you want to explore but we have to deal with this demon before it decides to leave it's rift." Kalina shook her head to knock her out of her stupor. "Right."

Waking through a few more corridors and across a few more bridges and a pavilion they finally made it to the front of the temple, a large construct with several spires with one main one stretching taller than the rest.

"Whoever made this temple sure went all out", Zero remarked as she couldn't help but take in it's beauty. "To bad we might end up trashing it", Kalina said in faux sadness as the duo of demon hunters walked up the steps of the temple only to here singing.

Except it wasn't a female voice. It was male, and it was in a language Kalina didn't understand.

As the two moved deep to the center of the temple they were shocked to find a large circular chamber with a lit chandelier and candles. A large statue of a goddess in a battledress with grand large white wings shielding her body and a large sword stabbed into ground stood watch. And at the foot of the goddess statue was a man in black boots and a trench coat.

From the view Kalina could see he was very lean and had dirty blonde hair that reached his shoulder. It's the same man from before, Kalina thought as Zero aimed her gun at the man. "Now this is a rare sight. Since when is a servant of darkness a worshipper of the Deity of Nocturne?"

Deity of Nocturne!? Who the hell is that.

The man sighed as he rose to his feet and turned to face Kalina and Zero, his eyes a deep crimson red. "Isn't a man free to choose his own religion?", he asked quizzically, "or did you guys throw that out the window."

"I have no qualms with anyone's religious views, I just find it hard to believe someone who allied with the Darkness and Chaos worshipping the goddess sworn to stop it."

"Okay I'm a bit confused", Kalina blurted out.

The man turned to Kalina. "How could you not know? Anyone who's wrapped up in all of this knows about the Deity of Nocturne, or at least the Goddess of Time's ballad."

Kalina quirked her eyebrow as the man opened his mouth to recite.

"Come pity poor Nocturne she was left all alone, her blood given to Saviors in battle to atone. Queen of nothing, Goddess of death, we all feel her sorrow-so let her be known."

Kalina only stood their in puzzled by the words the man had just spoken. Goddess of death? Saviors? Blood to atone? What the hell is this really!?

The man took one look at Kalina's confused face and laughed. "She really doesn't know does she."

The man laughed some more in mass hysteria. "She doesn't know about any of it does she, about the 13 Days, the Saviors, the Records of Time, none of it! Oh that is very naughty on your part Zero."

"I bet you haven't even told her what she really is."

"Seeing as how I don't know myself I highly doubt Kalina would hold it against me", Zero fired back. "And what about you, if you know so much why don't you just bloody tell us already." But the man wagged his finger like how one would scold a child.

"Sorry that's not my job, I'm just a messenger. A Messenger of Discord to be exact." Before Kalina and Zero could attack the man raised his finger to the sky and called down an arc of red lightning that slammed into his body and caused a shockwave of dark magic to ripple through the temple.

When the debris cleared a large flaming dragon stood at the center of the temple with the man looking up at his flaming draconic beast. Keep them busy, I need time for what I'm about to do."

The flaming dragon turned to Zero and Kalina and roared furiously. "Great", Kalina muttered. "We're fighting the Balrog from Lord of the Rings." The flaming dragon let out another roar as it released a stream of flame. Zero and Kalina dove out of the way of the fire, the two unleashing a spray of bullets.

Meanwhile the man stood before the goddess statue and spread his arms out, a glyph of crimson red demonic energy formed around him as he began chanting in another language.

Zero narrowly dodged another stream of fire, the white haired Demi-God using ice magic to freeze the fire in mid breath before firing blasts of frigid air back at it.

Kalina called out to Zero as she leaped into the air. Zero raised her hand over her head and a glyph of glowing energy appeared. Kalina smashed it as it reformed to a glowing spectral ice sword. Kalina roared as she then dove down and stabbed the flaming dragon in the head with the sword, the beast letting out a final cry before turning into ash in the wind.

After that was over Kalina then whipped out Crimson Blitz and fired a couple of bullets near his head causing him to stop his chanting, the circle disappearing from sight.

"Sorry buddy, but demon fun time is over."

The man then turned to Zero before shifting his gaze to Kalina. "It seems so hard to find good help these days. As the humans say if you want something done....", the man summoned a red glyph and from it a sword began to pull out, a large monstrous demonic blade with chains wrapped around it.

The chains snapped as the man gripped his sword and aimed it at the duo of demon hunters, the sword awash with a demonic glow.

"....You have to do it yourself." And then he charged towards Kalina. Zero immediately pushed Kalina out of the way and she took the full brunt of the man's magical attack, the dark magic knocking Zero into one of the pillars.

"Zero!" Kalina screamed as she ran towards her, only to be backhanded by the blunt end of the man's blade into the goddess statue. "Did you really think you could save your friend and beat me?", he asked drawing closer.

Pain lanced through Kalina's body and she found it hard to move. "You don't even know what you are or the full extent of your powers. The way I see it your a fatal flaw to the plan. Might as well get rid of you now."

Before the man could plunge his sword into Kalina's heart an instinct roared at Kalina to touch the statue's sword. Having no other options she obeyed the instinct, and then a powerful energy blast awoke and knocked the man backwards. The stone sword began to crack as purple light seeped through to reveal itself.

Take full grasp of my power. You who walks with shadows within and will bring salvation to a dying world. Take my power and with it redeem the souls of the forsaken and carve a new and perfect world.

The sword called out to her and Kalina answered the call.

As the light blazed forth once more so did a new weapon. A single edged blade that was purple and black and had spiky ridges on the blade. Kalina took hold of the sword and instantly power flooded her body as she begun to change.

She now wore black metal armor that covered her arms and chest, as well as a stark white cape flowing and a matching white dress that opened up in the front to show her armored thigh high boots. With this new power Kalina felt invincible, and yet it felt like a power she had all alone.

"Damn it! The curse failed!" Kalina turned to the man and with a simple wave of her sword in a arc like motion a wave of powerful magic slammed into him before he disappeared, the wave of magic destroying nearly half of the temple.

Incredible, Kalina thought as she walked over to see a Zero walking out of the debris dusting herself off. She took one look at Kalina and only said,

"Well that's new."

A/N: I thought about this ever since releasing the last chapter earlier today and I couldn't help but compare the Deity of Nocturne to the Goddess Etro from Final Fantasy 13 hence the ballad reference.

Oh and Kana yes bring back the Chronicles of Zero in all it's glory there is no need to polish it up we will devour that series raw. As I said I was a major nerd the Chronicles of Zero book I was at before it was taken down I believe
COZ: Dark Hunter or Devil Hunter I forgot but I was close to COZ: Forever.

Also I hope all those original fans got my Witch Hunt Bayonetta fanfiction reference another great book that was made by KittyKollision but was taken down because some mother@$&% didn't know what fanfiction was. I loved that book anyway, just sayin.

Hope you enjoyed all the references and I finally got her that sword. Let me know what you think as I really want all of everyone's opinion that's reading this.
