"My name's Naomi!"

A cheerful girl grew closer to me. I looked her up and down, analyzing her facial expression. I noticed she wasn't very well-kept. Her hair was messy, her uniform was untucked, and for some reason, I could see her mismatched socks. Wait....

"You aren't wearing any shoes?" I questioned her. She looked down, her smile dropped into a wide 'o' like she was surprised I called her out.

"Oh! Hey! I didn't explain my powers to you yet, did I?"

She returned to her original bright, bubbly smile, and I have to admit I was curious to know what her powers were.

"You did-"

"I HAVE DARKNESIS!" She shouted, interjecting before I could tell her she didn't. She then started jumping up out of her seat and started posing confidently. Three boys came our way and laughed at her.

"Geez, Naomi at it again?" A boy with maroon hair and red eyes teased.

"I think so," a boy with brown eyes and black hair laughed. The other boy smirked along with them.

"You guys say that now, but when I unleash the darkness, it won't be so funny," Naomi pouted.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," the maroon-haired boy patted her head like she was a little kid, and that was when I grasped the class dynamic. Although only four kids were here at the moment, the whole class was like a family already. I won't fit in.

"Since we're displaying our powers, what's yours?" The maroon boy seemed infatuated.

"Uh..." I said. My power wasn't nearly as cool as Naomi's. She could probably morph into shadows, change the daytime, and all types of things with her powers, but I could be overthinking and maybe my ability wouldn't pale in comparison to hers.

"I can see the future!" I lied.

"Whoaaa...Me too!" The boy with maroon hair's face lit up.

"No, you can't," the boy with brown hair butted in.

"Shut up, Jason, you're always raining on my parade," he rolled his eyes.

"No, I tell the truth," Jason said.

"Look new...." He took a deep stare at me.

"Girl."

"I'm Jason. I have enhanced hearing and Dru is our red-eyed friend. His powers are enhanced seeing, and on occasion, due to luck, he predicts things that end up happening," Jason explained.

"I understand," I look to Naomi and she smiles in return, then to Jason, then to Dru.

"Who's that?" I point at another peer who has star-shaped pupils. His eyes widened.

"Star mimicry," he muttered.

"I thought you could pull people towards you?" Naomi said.

"Yeah, I thought you had, like, an air power," Dru said.

"You haven't seen him turn into a star?" Jason seemed surprised. "His air power is his gravitational pull."

"Gravitational pull? That doesn't make sense," Naomi was oblivious to everything Jason explained.

"Naomi, Star, Him, Space, Air," he talked to her like a dog, which made me somewhat uncomfortable for some reason.

Naomi's smile dropped. "Stop treating me like a kid," she mumbled, her usual bubbly demeanor now gone.

"Calm down, Naomi. It's just banter," Jason looked shocked, seeing her smile that was always plastered on her face, now gone. It was weird nonetheless.

The boy with starry pupils intervened. "Jason, I think you should just leave her alone for now."

"What's Naomi gonna do?" Jason smirked. "Be serious, Kacey," Jason chuckled. He cracked his knuckles, predicting Naomi was about to attack.Naomi Lunged at Jason only for him to swiftly move out the way

"Too slow" He taunted Naomi flew her body across the room hitting a desk. Ouch that's gotta hurt.

"Use your power" He sighed. His eyes began to glow a deep blue different from his previous color then

BOOM! Jason punched Naomi In the gut. Spit flew out her mouth while she curled up Into a ball she was now on the floor "Weak" Jason facepalmed. "Naomi you just need-" Naomi threw a punch, then two than three then four. She repeatedly punched Jason In his face. Jason grabbed her fist stopping her mid-punch and tossed her to the ceilling she fell back down on her back. Defeated.

"You could've turned Into a shadow and easily outsmarted me" Jason tried extending a hand to her but she just looked at him. She couldn't speak. Their brawl was stupid but It was something Jason only did to push people she knew he had good intentions but did he have to throw her up Into the air tossing her like a pancake? It's true she can't manipulate shadows but that's why she's In the academy to help her learn.

"Naomi?" I walked to her. "Dru looked at us eager to see some more "drama"

"You're holding back aren't you?" I extended a hand. She did not take mine either and Instead helped herself up not having any expression

"Fair enough" Everyone has an expression of surprise

"Holding back?" Dru repeated.

The room fell silent for a couple of seconds. Minutes flew by and no one chose to speak maybe too much was going on everyone thought of Naomi as the bubbly girl who can't use her powers and Jason as the Tough love type but It has only been 3 weeks since school started so I guess anything could happen even a new girl like myself could shake things up. Then *ding* Class Is In session. 10 kids and 1 adult came rushing In which was weird. That would give about 15 students a small class for a school so amazing the 5 of us sat down In different directions from each other Naomi's smile came back and she chatted with her friend.

Vendetta Pov: Anatomy Class

I sat down next to Naomi who was smiling but looked for some reason tired I couldn't really bring myself to ask anything so I just sat next to her.

"Hey Vendetta! How are you feeling?" Her bubbly smile appeared on her face and I felt at ease she was obviously fine.

"I'm fine nothing special happened" I look around spotting a new girl sitting In the center of class.

"Did you talk to her already?" I asked halfway joking halfway expecting a

"Of course!" because It Is Naomi were talking about the most friendliest person In the world I would say.

"Yep! She was super...nice" She gave me a bright smile. I just shrugged maybe Naomi just wasn't In a good way because usually she would be talking my ear off. I just slumped down In my seat and placed my head on the desk listening to our small class of 15 sound like hundreds Naomi got up out her seat to talk to her other friends this was normal I sleep all day and In school I hate It but at least I have a good teacher hes Nice. The door opened and everyone hurried to their seats I lifted my head up Seeing Mr. Rainn Walk slowly Into class with crutches confused me. It most likely confused everybody else to because Clara who was sitting on the left of me gasped and set a chain reaction.

"Good morning everyone" He smiled.

"Mr. Rainn are you okay!?" Naomi rushed out her seat to aid him In walking.

"Naomi, Naomi I.am.fine" He looked Naomi up and down

"You on the other hand needs to visit Mr. Alexander I see. Naomi's face changed

"No....I just fell" She was obviously lying and the class knew because Mr. Rainn looked at her with a skeptical face.

"Go to your seat sunshine I don't need help" He smiled. Naomi shook her head helping him up to his podium In front of the class then sat down "Thank you Sunshine, Now today will be a easy survey day" He explained. My classmates were basically jumping up and down because they knew they could slack off but I was annoyed how are we ever gonna beat Mystical Academy In the Power Playoffs If we don't train but I didn't protest.

"Does anyone wanna pass out the papers?" He said his legs shaking. I looked at Naomi who also noticed his legs shaking she had a worried look on her face.

"Ill do It!" Naomi practically flew up to the podium. She grabbed the papers from Mr. Rainn

"Okay Ill explain the-" Mr. Rainn fell down to the floor the whole class rushed to his Aide Clara being the first one there besides Naomi who was putting papers on desk the new students sat this one out though she did look a bit concerned.

"Mr. Rainn?!" The class shouted In unison. Price pushed the kids out the way and put his head to his chest I guess trying to hear his heartbeat.

"Mr. Rainn what Is your source type?" Mr Rain looked confused

"There's nothing wrong with me I'm just a bit sick guys." He tried reassuring us. "Mr. Rainn I hear your heartbeat.." Price looked at him worriedly and gulped

"Its slow-w..ing" He sighed

"Your heartbeats slowing down by the second" Mr.Rainn's face looked shocked and I understood why I went outside the classroom to the phone box and grabbed mine dialing 244(Emergency services)

"My teacher has unsteady breathing!" I say sounding worried than hanging up. I did this because that will get them to come faster I burst back Into the classroom and saw Mr. Rain laid across 4 chairs with the curtain that was on the window trying to cushion him

"Vendetta where did you go?" Naomi questioned.

"I called the protectors" I said suspicious

"What did you all do?" I asked

"Were putting It to a vote" Jason said. I looked over at Kacey "Its not like life threatening or nothing Ill just give him some orbit particles and let the hospital take him" Kacey said sitting on the ground.

"Good Idea!" Naomi praised him. Kacey closed his eyes and my feet began to rise so did the others hes using gravitational pull? weird. We all fall to the ground with a *Thud* as a knife flies Into his hand he cut the knife Into his skin. everyone turned the other way besides me. I stared Into Kacey's seemingly calm eyes his star pupils didn't have a inch of dilation hes not scared? hes basically operating and hes not healer of our group Price Is. Kacey's cut ran deep he cut Mr. Rainn's arm open on the verge of fainting he dropped his star power Into his body.

"Price go get the stitches"

"Already On It' He yelled by the back cabinet he ran back up to the front and stitched up Mr. Rainn the hospital trucks and police were heard outside flashing their lights and I took both bodies holding them up

"Ill be right back everyone stay where you are!" I yelled running Into the hallway. Kacey coughed as we went down the stairs

"That was a noble thing of you to do" I sad carrying the two above my head running downstairs

"I thought about what you would've did.." He said embarrassed

"Me?" I said confused. "Yeah your...Strong" He said coughing again.

"Thanks..." A red hue spread across my face. I exited the building to see 3 trucks I place Mr. Rainn In one and Kacey In the other.

"Kacey" He looked up at me.

"Hurry up and get better okay?" He nodded at me

"Of course the Power Playoffs are only a quarter away after all" Kacey smiled.

"No, Not just for the power playoffs" Is what I wanted to say but I just walked off and went back In the building In the classroom everyone was sitting down on the floor talking among their selves

"I guess the schools gonna get us a substitute but for now just please don't break anything anyone" I sat back In my seat

"I'm going to bed" Naomi smiled at me "Goodnight" I laid my head down In response hearing everyone get up and sit down they all began talking quietly.
