Cleopatra

Life had done one thing for her. It had passed her by. Nothing else really. She floated through life never forming deep enough roots to stay. Having a relatively normal childhood, she could not even blame her parents for her uneventful life. A harsh divorce of her parents or financial struggles or teenage rebellion- nothing.

It was not for lack of trying, don't be mistaken. Her parents fought, and she tried her best to make it worse. Making up imaginary affairs for her father though might not have been the best route to take, seeing how her mother had a hard enough time convincing herself that she had married a man and not a genetic crossover between a toad and a tarantula. The idea of him seducing another woman had been laughable and so, that plan failed miserably. So she moved on to the next mission, but she could never push her father into bankruptcy with her arduous and irresponsible xeroxing.

She could have runaway from home but try as she might, she was not exactly a stunning beauty to ignite timeless passion. She tried to take up smoking but the sting of betrayal from the cigarette which had set her hair on fire was too hard to overcome. At last, she thought, setting your head on fire must garner some attention but sadly burning five strands of one's hair didn't make the cut for front page news.

She didn't understand how it came easily to others. Affairs with teachers, drug addiction, dropping out of school and what not. Some people were just blessed more than others she supposed. No one ever said life was fair. Average in school, arts and don't even get me started on how she was at sports.

Finally she was tired of it. She had had enough. She decided to take matters into her own hands. She had tried to be a failed artist but that plan had a minor hiccup owing to the fact that she worked in a bank. But that would be her last failure. She was going to marry a confidence trickster and lose all her savings investing in his fraudulent schemes.

The thing she did not realise is, if a man has a shifty look of a fraud then he probably wasn't one. At least not a very good one, seeing how mastering control over shifty looks is the first lesson in trickster school. She just ended up being married to a nervous guy who looked like he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar for no reason at all. He gave her a full filled marriage with no hint of affair and blessed her with two mind numbingly boring children who dotted every i and crossed every t.

Could anyone imagine a more tragic fate?

So perhaps that is why she did not move out of the way when a swerving car coming from the wrong side of the road hit her. She knew she was going to make headlines. With the knowledge that her wish had been full filled, she died with a smile on her face.

Well, her wish would have been full filled weren't it for the fact that, the car that had hit her, had been that of an famous actress scheduled for her downward spiral. The accident did make headlines, but it was the actress's face which splashed across media and not hers. And the story was covered by all main media for the next two weeks which focused on how reckless and irresponsible celebrities were, citing this accident in question as example.

Well, some people did have all the luck in the world.
