It sucks that I have to write this, given all of the notes I've put everywhere else throughout the story, including in the description and the first chapter, but I guess some people are just too lazy to read what is right in front of them.

For those of you confused, I'm writing this later, after this story has existed for about seven years, because I'm sick and tired of the comments. This is for those of you who are reading this story for the first time and are sensitive to the following. 

My main character, Scarlet, exhibits homophobic and transphobic behaviors. Clear as day. Yells at Grell, all that fun stuff. Now, I would like to explain why. 

As I've mentioned in notes that you will run into in the first real chapter of the story, this fanfic is set in the Jack the Ripper arc, and as most of us know, Black Butler takes place in Victorian England in the late 1800s, or late 19th century. During this time, being a trans person was rare, and looked down upon greatly. Same goes for homosexuality. Being caught could result in being thrown in prison. Scarlet merely believes in what she was taught growing up during the time period that she lived in. 

While I'm at it, I may as well admit that I also wrote the first chapter of this story, again, about SEVEN YEARS ago. I was a different and less informed individual back then. I thought some of the lines I wrote where Scarlet was mean to her "brother" were funny. I wanted to make people laugh, not yell at me for being transphobic. So if I've offended anyone, or you become offended by what you read, I'm truly sorry. It was never my intention to offend a community of people that I truly do support with my whole heart. 

I hope for one thing from this. I want you to read my story and prepare yourself for the real world. You're not going to be able to escape homophobic and transphobic people or characters in the media. Others are going to write character far worse than what I've done.

So no, I'm not going to take my story down. I worked hard on it, and that's what matters. If I haven't scared you off yet, then please read on, and I hope you enjoy. Scarlet's journey is a fun one, and I promise you, she learns from her mistakes and opens her eyes soon.
