Prologue:

Georgia thought she already had her moment of truth six years ago.

"I hate you, I hate you, I HATE YOU!" Scarlett had screamed, her ten-year old self's brilliant green eyes burning with betrayal. 'Its all your fault.' They accused.

Georgia knew that she was right. It was all her fault. But she didn't want Scarlett to hate her, not ever.

"I'm sorry Scar-lie! I'm sorry!" Georgia answered with panic in her voice. "I had to do it!" She looked at her with all the pleading she could muster, begging with everything she had, "Please don't hate me!"

"You don't get to say anything!" Scarlett snarled. She didn't give her a chance. "You did this!"

"Scarlie...please..." Georgia felt her eyes start to prick, seeing even as a ten year old that it was inevitable at this point.

She was going to lose her forever.

"Don't call me that ever again!" Scarlett glared through her tears, the heat in her eyes the last time they would show anything real. "I'm done with you!"

But despite how it changed her life, Georgia now knew that that moment was only the beginning. It was that day, six years ago, that sent her spiraling down to this moment:

Her moment of truth was now.

All sound has ceased, the ringing in her ears from all the noise silenced. All feeling has vanished, leaving an empty numb shell that only remembered how to see, to watch time sputter to a perfect stand-still.

Dust and ashes that surrounded her body fell like fading stars.

"No." A mouth moved, a sound hoarse and unrecognizable. But Georgia mind failed to register the one word that she whispered so tragically. Something else captured the brain's attention, the little it could understand in its messed-up state:

A burst of insane laughter.

"You did this." Another whisper, this time with clearer pronunciation. Georgia's heart gave a little jolt at those words, realizing how it was now she who said the three words, but sank back into its numbness a heartbeat later.

"I'm sorry. Oh wait, did I say sorry?" Another round of giggles, a completely wrong sound that Georgia couldn't help but hate right away. "Oh my, I'm such a liar today!"

"You...didn't stop them. You let them go." The accusation in her now weak voice couldn't be missed by the dumbest person in the world.

"Oh honey." Georgia saw a hand reach out and to pat the top of her head like she was a good dog. "We both know that isn't true. You had quite the part in all of this."

The hand stopped patting and moved away from her broken, ruined body. "It was nice chatting, but I got to leave. Time flies sometimes I guess."

The person started to walk away from the body in the midst of all the destruction, looking for the first time oddly as if that was where it truly belonged. Georgia saw the person's mouth move, the betrayer smirking as the last sentence caused her light-blue eyes to widen as wide as saucers.

"I think this is the last time we'll see each other, don't you think?"

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I know this is very confusing right now, but it will make sense at the very end of the book. I promise:)
