what a plot twist you were...
HOPE WAS MAKING HER way to class, but as she was about to turn a corner, she saw Millie crouched down in front of a little girl that looks to be around ten years old. The girl was crying, head between her knees, shaking. The hall lights were flickering and the pictures on the wall was shaking.
"Hey, it's okay, sh, I'm here," Millie's voice was soft and comforting. She was running one hand gently through the girls hair, letting her almost like a dog, while the other hand held the little girls hand gently.
Hope watches with a fond smile as she watches the scene. Maybe she should've walked away, but she always finds herself glued to whatever Millie is doing. And right now, not only were her words comforting to the little girl, but also to Hope.
"I know first days are always hard, but I'm here for you, Luna," Millie spoke softly, a small smile painted on her features. She was wearing pink sparkly lipgloss that matched her light pink flowy dress, hair pulled back on french braids with cute little white flowers stuck in the braids.
Millie didn't care if she sometimes looked like a little kid on the clothes she wore, she didn't care that sometimes the mean teenagers would laugh at her if she wore a tutu. Wearing cute dresses and having flowers in her hair made her happy, made her feel more alive than she really is. It says more about the other person judging her than it does about her.
"You're actually so brave to be here, and I think that's amazing," Millie continued, eyes bright and shining as the little girl lifted her head to take a peek at the teenager who has taken time out of her day to comfort her. "I just got here like a month ago, myself, and I think you're handling it better than me." That was a lie; Millie was ecstatic to be here, all things considered — with Alaric previously attacking her and then finding out that her birth mother owns the school, it was a doozy. But, Millie couldn't be happier that she decided to join the school.
Not only has she connected with her birth mother, but she has two younger sisters who she loves very much, and she has made many great friends. And she has met and befriended Hope Mikaelson. For some reason, that small detail is what makes Millie the happiest. There is something about the tribrid that reels the zombie in. She likes it.
"Really?" The little girl looked up with bright green eyes. Her short blonde hair was very curly and bouncing as she stared up at the older girl.
"Really." Millie nodded, tugging lightly on a curl, grinning down at the young girl. "You'll make friends in no time, don't you worry." She leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to the girls forehead. "You already have one; me."
The girl's smile widened and she sniffed, wiping away her tears. "Really?!" Her childlike voice carried in the hallway. "A friend?" She now looked a little sheepish, and held up her pinky. "Pinky promise?"
Millie giggled and interlocked her pinky with hers. "Friends forever." She pulled back slightly and slid her purse which was in the shape of a daisy, off of her shoulder. She unzipped it and shuffled around for a second before pulling out a candy bar. "Here you go, peaches." She smiled as the girl grabbed the candy bar and held it to her chest like it was a treasure. "I think it's time you go to class, huh?"
Luna nodded and stood up with the help of Millie. "Thank, missy." She stood just below Millie's shoulders, seeing as the zombie is a really short person.
"You're welcome." Millie bent down slightly to press another kiss to the kids forehead. "Off you go." She stood there, smiling as the little girl skipped off to class.
Hope stood there, in the corner of the hall, eyes wide, heart hammering, cheeks warming up as the blonde girl's smile just widened as the kid turned the corner.
Millie's smile was one of happiness growing, much as a spring flower opens. Hope could see how it came from deep inside to light her eyes and spread into every part of her. The blonde's smiles are the prettiest prettiest thing Hope has seen in a while, for it extends to her eyes and deep into her soul. Millie is the gentle touch, the honesty that is a purity, her childhood innocence so vibrant and free.
The tribrid seemed to be frozen as she realized what has been happening for weeks.
She's falling in love with Millie Moore.
Hope's heart seemed to stop as those words rang loudly in her head. Im not falling, I'm already in love with Millie Moore. Fuck!
Before the blonde could notice her in the hallway, the tribrid was quick to run away, all the while panicking about her new finding.
IT WAS A FEW HOURS LATER, and Millie was in her joined room with the twins, sitting at her easel where she's painting Hope's smiling face. She had seen the girl earlier that day talking with Lizzie about something in the cafeteria, her eyes bright, smile carefree. And Millie had to memorize it, and the only way that was possible was to quickly start painting.
Now, as she has painted about half of Hope's beautiful face, Millie paused for a second just to stare at it, thinking back to the twins' birthday party.
Millie couldn't help but blush. Why does Hope Mikaelson have to be so pretty? She placed her free hand in Hope's, and was surprised when the auburn haired girl brought their combined hands in the air and twirled her in a circle.
The small blonde forgot how to function for a second. Hope's angelic laugh, her lingering touch, everything about her is so effortlessly perfect.
Millie wrapped one arm around her waist, keeping their other hands entangled, swaying back and forth to the music, inching closer every second. The small blonde laid her head on her chest, face hurting from grinning.
"Are you okay?" Hope mumbled, loosening one of her hands to gently push Millie's blonde hair behind her ear. "You haven't said much."
"Just too happy to say anything," the blonde admitted truthfully. She wasn't going to lie; she hasn't felt this happy since she turned into a zombie. Of course she loves her mom and Ravi, and was happy with them, but this was different. Hope is different.
"I'm happy that you're happy," she pulled back slightly, their eyes connecting for a few seconds before her eyes dropped down her body. Millie blushed heavily under her gaze. Their eyes met again and she looked away bashfully, cheeks turning a delicate pink under the birthday lights.
Thinking back to it, Millie most definitely had a crush on the tribrid upon the first time talking to her. But that night... that night changed everything.
Millie just sat there, staring at the half painted Hope, cheeks turning to a bright red as realization hit her.
She has fallen really hard for Hope Mikaelson.
