006. launch party drama

Warnings: drama, Lisa Rinna trigger, and cute moments between Hailey and Chris.

Sorry it's taken me a while to update but hope you enjoy!

-

Today was Hailey's launch party for her new limited edition jewelry line with Disney and she was so excited for it.  She couldn't wait to see people's reaction and their reviews on the collection.  She had already sent it out to some celebrities and social media influencers.

Chris was also going to spoil his wife today and made sure her launch party went as smoothly as possible.  He woke up early and let his wife sleep in a bit as he kissed her cheek and pulled the covers off of him.  They both had a baby monitor on their night stand table next to their bed and he noticed some movement from Aurora in her crib and decided it would be better to wake her up now verses in another hour when she might start crying.

Today the film crew was going to be at Chris and Hailey's home for her launch party but today was also the first time she would be seeing Kyle again since their argument at Disneyland.  And if Hailey were being honest she was really nervous.  Sure, they had gotten in arguments before, but never had to go through it live on tv before and she hadn't really seen this side of Kyle before.  All she did was tell Scott what happened on their girls trip and she freaked out on him because he didn't like what Rinna did?  The more Hailey thought about it, the more upset she got with Kyle.  So yeah, she was nervous about today even though she should be excited for everyone to see her new jewelry line.

Her family along with some of Chris' family was going to be here because they all knew how important this was to her.

Hailey had asked her favorite cupcake place, The Cupcakery.  She asked for Banana Cream Bomb, Coconut Bliss, Pina Colada and Red Velvet.

"Is everything almost ready?" Hailey asked Cheryl who was her party planner for the event.

"Just about," Cheryl told her as she was finishing setting up the table where the girls would be.

Cheryl had been in the business for over fifteen years and when Hailey had reached out to her to help her set up for this launch party, of course she said yes!

There were pink roses and peonies in vases that lined the middle of the table with white flowers paired with them to make it appear as though it were a pink enchanted forest.  Before they entered, was an easle that had a big enchanted book that read:

Once Upon a Time. . .

It went into the detail of the making of Hailey's newest launch with Disney.  There was a bartender with drinks and concoctions Hailey came up with like Midnight which was a blueberry pomegranate cosmopolitan, Kiss the Girl which was a fruity drink and had cotton candy on top, Under Your Spell from Beauty & The Beast which was a mango jalepeno-infused tequila and lastly True Love's Kiss which was a strawberry spritzer drink.  Hailey tried to match the drink flavors to the name of the film as best she could.

There was a pretty floral back drop where the women could take some pictures if they wanted.

"Her husband is so fine," Garcelle comments and Sutton agrees.

"I don't know how Hailey got so lucky," Sutton shook her head as they both drooled over Hailey's husband.  Not only in looks but how great of a husband he seemed to be and person.

"Is it bad if I'm mainly excited about this party just to be around him more?" Sutton asked and Garcelle let out a loud laugh.

"As long as you don't try anything," she smirked at her friends comment.  "I think we all know that he knows he's fine," she made a noise.

"With someone who looks like him?  It's obvious," Sutton agreed and they took a selfie and posted it on their instragram to hype up Hailey's launch with her permission.

"What are you gonna do when you see Scott?" Kyle asked Lisa as her Kyle and Erica were all in a car together on the way to Hailey's home.

"I have no problem confronting him when the time is right.  But I'll be nice right away."

Kyle let out an unattractive snort.

"You should confront him," Kyle tells Lisa and Erica gives her the side eye.  She was confused.  Wasn't Hailey her best friend?  Why is she acting this way about someone and her family who she's known for a long ass time?  Didn't make any sense.  "And Hailey too.  What?" She asks Erica as she looked at her and noticed the look she was giving her.

"Nothing," Erika raises her hands up in defense.  "I'm just wondering where all this anger is coming from towards Hailey and her family..."

"You weren't there," Kyle scoffs.  "I was being attacked."

"I love you Kyle, but don't you think you're overreacting?  I mean from what you told us..."

"What?" She asked rather harshly and even Lisa was confused too.  But Lisa didn't mind.  Anything to bring good tv.  She was after all a hustler.  She worked hard for this gig and she loved it.

"Nothing," Erika says.  "It's just, I'm a little confused where this anger is all coming from?"

"She doesn't have to explain herself," Lisa says in defense of Kyle.  "She was sticking up for me."

"Absolutely and I get that.  But why are you so pissed?  Scott didn't say anything about you, did he?"

Before Kyle could answer, they had arrived at the Evans home and got out.  Erika had to admit in a way she felt bad for Hailey who didn't even know what was coming for her.  And at her own jewelry launch party too.

When Kyle came, even though she was still pissed at Hailey for what happened at Disneyland, she greeted Chris and his mom as well as his brother Scott.  But she was cold with Scott and didn't give him her usual warm greeting.

"It's good to see you again," Chris cleared his throat after he took a sip of his beer and the production team got all of this.

"Hi honey," Erika greeted the actor after he gave them all a hug and introduced them to his family.

Hailey was out in their back yard as she hadn't realized the time and made her way inside when she saw that the first group of people were here.  She had no idea that Rinna knew everything so when she came in she was thrown off by Rinna's cold greeting.  Kyle was a little apprehensive to greet her best friend but she still loved her even though she was currently pissed at her.  She knew how to play the part well.

"This is so beautiful, Hailey," Kyle commented as she looked at the decor.  "Looks like a real fairytale."

"Thanks," Hailey smiled.  "Cheryl was amazing help.  If you girls want drinks the bartender is over here."

"I'm gonna need one," Rinna cracked a joke as she did her laugh and Erika agreed as well.

"Me too," Erika said in agreement.

Part of her wanted to warn Hailey of the drama coming her way but at the same time where's the fun in that?  This was after all a reality tv show and the fans lived for the drama so she decided to play along.

Eventually, everyone made it, looking their best and now everyone was mingling.

"What kind of adult makes a collab with Disney?" Kyle asked bitterly as she muttered it when Hailey wasn't near.

"Oof," Garcelle commented as she made a face at Kyle's comment.  "I don't know, I think it looks beautiful," Garcelle complimented the work that Hailey put into it.

"Whatever," Kyle rolled her eyes as she walked off, no longer interested in looking at the jewelry.  She just wanted the lunch to happen so that they could leave.  Garcelle's eyes widened and Sutton squinted hers as they watched the brunette stomp her way over to Lisa and Dorit.

From what she knew, Kyle and Hailey were best friends and they had gotten along so well the last time they met Hailey.  What the hell could have happened between then and now?  Apparently a lot.

Everyone except for Lisa and Erika felt out of the loop and wanted to know what happened between the two.

"If you all want to take a seat the table, we will get started with our food now," Hailey says after they've had time to chat and look around.

They all find their name written in beautiful cursive writing as the chef brings out the meal.  Earlier trays were passed around with fried chicken, ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, crab cakes and mini avacado toast.  Now, they were being given lemon chicken with spaghetti noodles.

"This is so nice," Dorit compliments and the women all agree.

"Thanks," Hailey smiled at them and Lisa decided to after a while of conversation flowing, to jump in.

"I have to say Hailey, I was really hurt by what your brother-in-law had to say about me," Rinna opens her big mouth and doesn't care that this was her launch party and a big deal.  "Why would he say that about me when he doesn't even know me?"

Apparently Kyle told her everything.  Thanks Kyle.

"Why would you think now was a good time to confront Hailey about what was said?" The producer asked Lisa.

"I mean when is any time a good time?  This is the first time I'm seeing her since Lake Tahoe and I just want to know why Scott said what he said," she answered.

C O N F E S S I O N A L

"He was standing up for me because he didn't like how you treated me during Lake Tahoe.  So this was a conversation he was having between him and Kyle," Hailey told her.

"But why is he inserting himself in our drama?" Lisa demanded not backing down.

"He wasn't," Hailey let out a small laugh as she thought it was annoying how Lisa was being.  "He asked how Lake Tahoe was and we told him what went down.  That's not inserting himself in anyone's drama," Hailey said standing up for her brother-in-law as Scott and Lisa were in the kitchen watching the whole seen unfold.

"Own your shit," Lisa pointed her finger at the socialite.

"Should we go out there?" Scott asked his mom as they watched the women at the table.  Scott felt bad that he was the cause of all of the drama.

"No, no," Lisa shook her head.  "Let's give it a few more minutes and then go out.  I think your in the hot seat."

"He was asking what happened on our trip that got me so upset," Hailey said.  "So I told him and he didn't like what he heard.  Why don't you build a bridge and get over it already?  I mean damn."

'Oh shit," Garcelle said with an impressed look on her face as she watched their interaction.

"Well he doesn't need to be asking anything," Lisa Rinna buckled down as Kyle just watched, not standing up for Hailey.  If she were being honest, she kind of liked being the pot stirrer sometimes.  Even if it was at Hailey's launch party.  Sure she knew fans didn't like it when she did this but at the same time they should be thanking her.  Otherwise what else would they be watching?

"Oh really?  And who made you Queen?" Hailey asked as Garcelle made a face as she agreed with Hailey.  Finally someone else was saying this other than her.  "And what about you, Kyle?  I don't appreciate you running to Lisa and telling her what we talked about."

"Oh shit," Garcelle commented knowing this could get ugly.  She felt bad for Hailey since she knew that this launch party was a big deal for the socialite.

"She was a true friend and told me what was happening behind my back," Lisa defended Kyle.

"Just because we've been friends for a long time does not mean my loyalty is to you," Kyle tells Hailey with an attitude that shocks Hailey.  "I don't see anything wrong with what I did.  I was just letting another friend of mine know what was being said about her."

"Honey, I think Hailey just thought you would have her back," Erika says to Kyle which shocked Garcelle that Erika didn't take Kyle's side.  "Do I think it was right what Scott said?  No.  But you also didn't have to make this into a bigger deal than what it was made into."

"Exactly," Hailey nodded her head.  "I feel like you betrayed my trust, Kyle."

"I didn't betray anyone, Hailey," Kyle says doubling down on her point of view.  "This is what I believe in and I felt like Lisa had a right to know what was being said about her.  End of story."

"Well, at least I know where I stand with you now," Hailey said as she tried to keep cool and not completely lose it.

Scott decided right then he couldn't take it anymore.  This was Hailey's big day and he couldn't just let his sister-in-law get attacked for something he said.  He wouldn't allow that.  So he walked outside at the protest of his mom and the women looked to see who was coming out.

"Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear you guys.  I can't let my sister-in-law get all the hate for something I said.  Yes, I said that about you, Lisa, because quite honestly you do act like a bitch," Scott said as he looked at the hustler and Garcelle let out a small laugh but covered it up with a cough.  "What you did to my sister-in-law on that trip was really shitty and she was trying to be nice and get to know you.  You keep telling everyone else to own their shit but why don't you own your shit?"

Dorit's eyes widened as she looked at Lisa wondering what she was gonna say next.

"You know what Scott, screw you," Lisa said and Hailey's eyes downcasted as the launch she had worked so hard for was now ruined.  All because Kyle had to tell Lisa what happened.

"With pleasure, sweetheart.  If that's the best you got," he gave her the middle finger and walked away with a big grin on his face.

Everyone was now gone with their gift bags that Hailey put in some favorites in there to thank everyone for coming.  Hailey was frustrated.  Her and Kyle hadn't fought in years and part of the reason why she did this show with Kyle was because she really talked it up with her.  Saying how they would be able to spend more time with each other and that it would be a great experience.  But so far, she was beginning to regret her decision to say yes to this.

She felt strong muscular, comforting arms wrap around her as her husband brought her close to him and began kissing her jaw and neck.

"Everything okay?" He murmured still peppering kisses on her neck.

"I don't know," she shrugs her shoulders, enjoying the feeling of her husband's lips on her skin.  "Today didn't go as I thought it would.  First with Rinna then with Kyle," she shook her head.  Part of her forgot that the production team was still at their house right now but they had asked the couple if they could stay for at least fifteen extra minutes to get their side of what happened today.

"You have to admit though Scott telling Lisa off was funny as hell," Chris started laughing and Hailey did as well for the first time that day.

"Oh my God, did you see the look on her face when he asked her to own it?" Hailey was laughing so hard she had tears coming out of her eye.  "That was iconic!"

"Scott told me when he came back his heart was beating so fast out of excitement.  He felt bad for you.  I did too," Chris looked hurt for his wife knowing that her launch day hadn't gone as planned.

"Aww baby," she kissed his pouty lips and cuddled into him further.  "I love you."

"I love you too.  What do you think about maybe talking to Kyle one on one without everyone there?" Chris asked as he swayed them side to side.

Scott was now gone back to his home but their mom, Lisa, was staying with Chris and Hailey.  She wanted to see her grand-babies more while she was in town.  Scott was currently dating a guy named Zach and had been for almost a year now.

"Mmm maybe," Hailey replied knowing that her friendship with Kyle was worth saving if she could.  "I just don't want this to come in-between Kyle and I's friendship."

"It won't baby," he kissed her neck.  "You guys have years of friendship together!  Kyle loves you."

"Your right.  I'll try calling her tomorrow.  Tonight though, I was thinking about getting a tattoo for at least Charlotte and Mason.  Something that symbolizes them," Hailey tells Chris.

"Like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Mason and Power Puff Girls for Charlotte?" He questioned knowing his kids so well.

"Yeah," she nods her head with a small smile.

"I think I'll get them with you," he tells her.  "I could always add more to my collection."

"Really?" She asks shocked.

"Yeah," he nods his head.  "Let me call up my tattoo guy and see when he can come out."

"Okay, thank you," she smiles at her husband.

She knew that she already had tattoos for them but she wanted more and something fun for them.

*

She was going to get Bubbles on her left wrist.  She knew her dad would not be happy with her getting more tattoos.  The other tattoo she was getting was going to be a smaller one with Dodger and Buzz's paw prints, sparkles and a half moon in the colors blue and pink on her right ankle.  In his opinion, Hailey already had way too much.  But Hailey didn't care.  It was her body and if her husband loved them, that was all that mattered to her.  Her mom didn't really have an opinion on them but she loved the tattoos that Hailey always got.  She just figured if her work didn't care, neither did she.  Her makeup artists are able to easily cover them up if they need to.  Besides, it wasn't like she was like Melissa.  Melissa had a ton of tattoos but Hailey loved them all.  So did Justin.

On the inside of her forearm she was going to get a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for Mason, specifically of Leonardo since that was his favorite.  She was getting the pose where he's smiling and more laid back as he's leaning on a sword and has one resting on his back with his legs crossed.  Whereas Chris was getting one with Leonardo smiling and his arms crossed together.

Last minute, Chris decides to turn to his wife with a suspicious grin on his face.

"What if we got a couples tattoo?" He questions.

"What were you thinking?" She asks intrigued as she leans forward.

"What about this?" He pulls up a picture on his iPhone 6S.

"I love it," Hailey nods her head in agreement with a small smile on her face.  "What made you just now decide to get a couple's tattoo though?"

"Just thought it was time," he grinned at her and leaned forward to place a sweet, short kiss on her lips.  "I love you."

"I love you too," she tells him.  "Thank you for this today.  I really needed a distraction from the launch party disaster."

The tattoo artist finished with Hailey's as she had the "and beyond" with a rocket on the inside of her forearm just below her elbow.  Chris had the "to infinity" with a rocket in the same place on his arm.  The artist bandaged up Hailey and Chris' tattoos as they paid her and the tattoo artist left.

The night was pretty calm compared to the day they had earlier.  Hailey just wanted to be around her family.  Lisa was making popcorn for them and brought out all the goodies of movie theater snacks, Hailey kept stocked in the walk-in pantry.

She brought the Buncha crunch chocolate for Hailey along with the watermelon Sour Patch Kids and Twizzlers along with a few others for everyone to share.  Hailey helped her mother-in-law carry everything in on a tray she had so that she didn't have to carry everything.

"Thanks for being here this weekend, Lisa, really," Hailey told her as they were in the kitchen setting it all up.

"I wouldn't miss it," Lisa told her as she gave her a quick hug.  "I'm only sorry that happened on your launch day," she ran her hand soothingly up and down her arm.

"I'm over it now," Hailey told her.  "I just want a movie night with my favorite people."

"And a movie night is what you'll get," Lisa smiled at her daughter-in-law as they moved into the living room.
