Wang Yibo's POV ~

7 Year Old Yibo

"Ah-Kuan, Hurry and leave with your brother and sister...Go to our forest villa, Baba and MaMa will return later. Make sure that he does not find you... Go now. Mama and Baba love all three of you."
I hear Mama's sweet voice echo in my ears.

Holding my GeGe's hand I am pulled by him and we start running. My little Mei is crying in his arms. Why are Mama and Baba not here with us?

"Kuan Ge, why are Mama and Baba not coming with us?"

I seek his eyes but they are avoiding mine.

"Yibo. Mama and Baba will be home soon. Okay?" he skillfully dodges my question.

Nodding my head I let it seem as if his wavering voice went unnoticed by me.

Something is not right!

Still running through the woods I can hear the rustling of trees but....the wind is not blowing then how?

I turn to look behind me when I feel my brother covering my eyes. Panicking I hug his legs as he shoves my face into his embrace. People are surrounding us, I know.
Mama, Baba where are you!?

I hear a voice then another and another and then I hear a loud cry, my sister's cry.

Kuan Ge leaves me and sprints forward only to be thrown away by a person. As I see my brother fall unconscious, I can feel their eyes on me.

I gulp. His blood-red eyes peer into me as I rush to my brother's side.

I try to wake him but he does not wake up.
I call out to him but somebody drags me away by my neck.

Holding me in place, I wail and struggle but the man doesn't inch at all.

"Shhhh little Yibo, Shut up."

I bite his hand and he winces in pain. Slapping me across my face my head starts spinning and my vision blurs.

I can hear him call someone's name.
"Wen....."
My ears ring with my sister's wails and I miss out his name.

"No!" I scream in his arms. He's holding my sister.

"Kuan Ge!! Help! Somebody help us! Anyone!"

No. No. No.

I wriggle, I cry, I scream as I see that Wen sinking his teeth in her neck.

"Please, I'm begging you, let her live! If you want blood, take mine.... Just don't harm her."

They don't listen to me. And they don't show mercy either as my sister's cries stop. They make me witness the light of life leaving my 2-year-old angel. I couldn't protect her. I couldn't be the best Ge for her. I have failed her.

No!

He throws away my sister as if she were garbage and walks towards my brother.

Not him too!!

"Somebody please.....please save us! Maa, Baa?" I call for help but apart from the creatures of the night there isn't a single trace of life around.

He walks over to my GeGe with my sister's blood tainting his teeth.

Why is this happening? My pleas and cries are lost in the surroundings as I see him suck the life out of my brother as well.

Never would I have comprehended us, siblings, losing our life to bloodthirsty vampires.

He turns to me and I become aware of my fate.

The same fate that was written for my brother and sister.

I don't cry. I don't want to look weak in front of these merciless beings. If death is to come then it may.

Glaring into his eyes I notice him halt.

He is speaking with the other vampires and I try to listen as hard as I can.

"If this was the correct guy then Xiao Zhan would already be here trying to save him."

"Yes, you're right but what if he really is the correct one. Maybe Xiao Zhan is too far to detect his scent?"

"No, it can't be. His scent is too strong. It's making me go crazy not tasting his blood. Xiao Zhan should've been here in minutes if we consider this brats scent."

"Well if he's not Xiao Zhan's mate then I might as well drink him. God, the Wangs have delicious blood!"

Who is this Xiao Zhan? What Mate? And delicious blood?

I shiver as I see the one who killed my family walk towards me. His red eyes gaze deep into my soul.

In seconds his face is nuzzled in my neck, he sniffs and my calm facade falls apart.

My body trembles as his fangs sink into my being.

"Xiao Zhan..."
I whisper unknowingly.

The sound of wings flapping grows louder and my feeble heart races in its last minutes.

And the last thing I remember is another set of teeth penetrating my skin, filling me with life...

I guess the grim reaper doesn't want me yet.

Xiao Zhan's POV ~

"Ah-Cheng! He's here!"

My body jolts as a strong scent of sandalwood and petrichor teases my being.

Sharply inhaling his sweet scent my blood boils as another strong smell enters me.

Blood! HIS blood! Which creature dares to harm my mate!?

"Zhan! Who's here?"

I turn to look at my brother and he freezes.

"Zhan..." he whispers.

I smirk as I reply, "MY MATE is here!"

Zhou Cheng smiles at me and I hear the cracking of bones.
"Oh! Then let us go meet him, shall we?"

My eyes turn purple before my form changes as well.

Whoever you are, if anything happens to my mate, I swear you wouldn't live to see tomorrow!
