Chapter 50: Just a Name
"No.. no don't say that, Jimin..." Jungkook replied as he let out a sigh before walking close to the man and getting down to his knees just to pull him into a gentle hug. Despite the crimson blood Jimin kept over his lips leading down to his chin and chest, Jungkook ignored it at a moment like this and held him close.
"How could you... expect me to wait for you... when you didn't return to me at least by the next hour?" Jimin asked as tears fell down his right eye. "I wanted to wait for you... but being alone isn't the best thing for me to go through now..."
"Jimin, I'm sorry... I'm sorry that I left but I made it very clear that I would return and I did! I did come back to you; my Jimin... my lovely and perfect Jimin..." Jungkook whispered into the hug and could feel Jimin's damp shirt push against his own.
"Don't call me that... d-don't call me perfect!" Jimin hissed through his tears and tried to pull away from the hug, but Jungkook wouldn't let go, he continued to hug the man and listen to him sputter over his own words since he couldn't sob or gasp for air when he would cry. "I'm nowhere near perfect! I can't be perfect. I... I just wanted you to be here with me... you're my weakness... my weakness to everything. But then... then I lost myself..."
"Jimin, when will you find out that you're perfect in my eyes? When will you find out that I will keep my promises? I'm sorry I left for a whole day... I'm sorry that I left you alone with yourself."
"How could you think that I'm perfect like this? Look at me... look at me! I'm covered in blood like the true monster that I am," Jimin continued on and turned his head to face Jungkook after managing to pull away from the gentle hug. Only now, their foreheads were inches away from touching and Jungkook had a closer look into the vibrant red eyes of his lover that matched with the blood he had over his mouth and body. "Can't you see that being alone does these things to me? When I told you that you were my weakness... what made you believe that it was just beautiful words put together? You're my everything... I couldn't handle being alone without you..."
"He's been alone for so long, it's been the last thing he has ever wanted when he knew I was part of his eternal life now," Jungkook thought, looking Jimin in his eyes. He longed to kiss him and promise him many things he knew he would keep, but of course, Jimin carried the bane of his own existence embedded against his teeth and his lips were covered in an innocent soul's blood Jungkook felt queasy about. So there the man sat, keeping his hands latched onto Jimin's motionless shoulders and looking into his tearful gaze.
"I did something horrible..." Jimin cried and moved in until his head was pressed against Jungkook's neck. Carefully, he buried his face against the younger's gentle skin for comfort as his tears kissed the boy's neck carefully. "I killed... I've consumed... so many people... so many within a day..."
Jimin's bloody hands slowly slid up Jungkook's body, guiding his cold hands up to feel every crease to Jungkook's torso just above his shirt. For the first time, he felt Jungkook's gentle body without his gloves blocking it, but this was done with the fabric of the boy's shirt tented over his sensitive skin. Coming in between his warm skin and Jimin's cold touch. But since the fabric of his shirt wasn't thick enough, Jungkook was still able to feel it.
"After all these many years of being alive, you would think I would know how to get over certain things, how to handle certain things and how to live without certain things... but oh how I've tried... I've tried so much... it hurts when I take in anything but I can't live without it... the human side of me despises the taste of blood but the dead side of me loves it... so... much... that it ties itself to my emotions and when I get upset, I crave it... I crave it in so many ways that it suppresses my sanity–or what's left of it."
"Jimin... you don't have to turn to this anymore, I'm here... just like that time you told me when I couldn't get over my own pain. I'm here to promise you that I would never leave you."
"But what if you do? What if I look out the window and see you running off again? You'll leave me again... don't promise me this... you don't know how many times I've been told those same exact words. You should know this by now," Jimin whispered through his tears and inhaled the sweet scent of his partner he missed so dearly. "Why do you leave me every time? Why do you promise me such things and leave me asking why... asking why I was so naive to believe it all? Don't you ever leave me again... I won't be able to take it! You're my weakness, my little raven, my world...Please... please, Hyunwon..."
"Hyun...won...?" Jungkook thought into his silent mind as he looked away from Jimin; feeling Jimin's cold and gentle lips kiss him against his neck carefully through his tears.
Jungkook noticed the wreck his partner was always in. He noticed the way he would slip up and call him by his past lover's name and leave the boy to wonder if Jimin truly recalled his actual name at times. All Jungkook heard from the broken man was the name Hyunwon in times that became so serious, he would sit there and try to brush it off, but this time... this moment right here, left Jungkook silent. He would correct Jimin most of the time, but just this once, he couldn't help but to feel sorry for Jimin.
The boy was sorry for the man who was madly in love with the one who took him for granted and Jungkook understood that Jimin tended to compare him to his past lover, only because they looked exactly the same and their acts were all the same in Jimin's eyes. But Jungkook eventually grew frustrated. Frustrated that Jimin wasn't going to see their differences after the boy proved that he was able to hold a promise.
"Jimin..." Jungkook whispered and looked down, longing to point Jimin's face onto his so he could look into his eyes. But, Jungkook only remained there, looking at the roots of Jimin's black silk hair and counting each strand as his eyes kept staring down at him. "I won't ever leave you... how many times do I have to tell you? What can I do for you to understand that I'm not like the others... they didn't care about you as much as I do! I'm yours... all yours, Jimin and you're mine."
"It's so hard, it's so hard to trust someone after being broken so many times... I want to trust you, but it's going to take a long time to do so..." Jimin mentioned. Concluding his whisper as he continued to wipe his tears from his own face as the blood stains ended up pressed against the boy's neck. "Please... don't ever leave me alone... not again..."
"I'll never leave you, Jimin... I'm your Jungkook; the one who will never abandon you... not like those others. I'm different, Jimin, can't you see that? Can't you see it all? Please tell me you can..." Jungkook whispered and cupped Jimin by his blood stained face and looked him in his eyes once again. "I'll be patient forever if I have to; forever just to get your trust and I understand if it's broken at first but we will fix it all together," Jungkook continued as tears began to race from his own eyes. Showing Jimin how exhausted he has become having to prove himself over and over again, but Jungkook was willing to do it as many times just to show Jimin he was nothing like Hyunwon.
"What did I ever do to be given someone like you?" Jimin added on and pressed his forehead against Jungkook's. Closing his eyes to the feeling as he began to fight with himself over and over again. Wanting to leave the many things behind that kept him from being happy, however, there it stood. Right in front of him, reminding him of the past as he unknowingly held onto it. Keeping it in his mind as a reminder that beautiful things come and go. But just this once, Jimin didn't want to numb himself from the fear of losing someone again, and wanted to believe they would stay forever. He wanted to believe it, but were the painful memories of his many past lovers going to allow it? He hoped it would.
"Jimin... let's clean ourselves up, you can't stay like this. I don't want you to see yourself like this, you're not a monster..." Jungkook whispered against Jimin's ear. Wanting to change the atmosphere of the conversation and lighten things up a bit. He wanted to guide Jimin into better ways of thinking; maybe this would slowly break him away from the horrible memories that haunt him to this day. Especially when Jungkook reminded him of Hyunwon every second.
"No... let me stay this way... it's what I am..." Jimin whispered, but Jungkook refused to let the man that he loved think this way.
"No, it's not what you are. This isn't the Jimin I see. The one I see is just as normal as any other person out there even if he's not a human being, he's so much more than the image he holds up to himself... just as normal and special... Come with me..." Jungkook continued and finally stood up and held Jimin's cold hand; slightly shivering from the touch at first. But he learned to live with it. "Let's take our mind off of things."
Jimin's eyes glistened at the sight of Jungkook standing up and guiding him to where the light would always shun the vampire. But in some way, Jimin was finally able to approach it with Jungkook. His hands finally touched Jungkook's for the first time and he was faced with the warmth he always longed to feel. In fact, he couldn't recall if he had ever held hands with someone just like this. This alone gained so much in Jimin's head without even realizing it. For just that moment, he was able to forget the memories of what once was and the name Hyunwon. To him, it felt as if it was just a name in his mind for that perfect moment.
They reached the bathroom where they both undressed and stood within the shower as the water trickled down their exposed skins. They were so used to each other's bodies, there wasn't a moment of hesitation before they began to undress in front of each other. Jungkook knew he didn't have Jimin's trust when it came to leaving him for a while, but this was the one he was glad to have. The feeling of trusting each other with their vulnerable moments like these.
Within the shower, Jungkook kept his arms wrapped around Jimin's motionless body. They shared nothing but sweet silence as Jungkook felt free to guide his hands up and down Jimin's body carefully and rest his head against his chest to ensure that at the end of every day, Jungkook's heart belonged to him and he longed to display it at a moment like this. A moment so caring, so romantic and forgiving after all the pain Jimin endured an eternity before he met his true partner; Jeon Jungkook.
