Chapter 14: A Quick Run

Jungkook waited a while before he made his way out of the hotel room. The moment he sat over the bed, expecting Jimin to be out of the hallway, he distinguished all his fears and once again, allowed his curiosity to take him further. At this point, he couldn't imagine Jimin punishing him terribly for leaving the hotel room after all the kind things he's done for him. Jungkook believed Jimin was just bluffing just so he would make sure the boy wouldn't escape. But of course, Jungkook dared to take a step further.

Quickly, Jungkook sprinted down the hallway of the sixth floor. Cautiously looking around and hugging himself due to how cold the dimmed floor became. Only now, the flickering lights didn't seem to give out much light now. Within seconds, all lights of the hallway went out and he was left to venture through the dark. Trying to grasp a sense of where things were before.

"Could this be one of the signs? Jimin must have kept this hallway dark and cold just to make sure I wouldn't escape..." Jungkook thought and extended his hands out to finally reach the elevator. "It's isolated up here... he knows exactly how to keep someone held captive to the point where it makes me wonder if there were people before me in the same position..."

Jungkook whispered to himself just to drain out the eerie silence as he tapped onto the button on the elevator to travel down. Just as he stood there in the dark, waiting for the elevator doors to open, the hairs on his neck suddenly began to rise. His heart pounded and the sense of something staring at him creeped up from behind him. Jungkook let out a sharp exhale and imagined Jimin already standing behind him.

"What are you going to do to me, Jimin?" Jungkook asked and turned around just to see that no one else was there...or so he thought. "I'm losing my mind here... there's no way Jimin would stay on this floor to test me," Jungkook thought before he heard the elevator chime and stepped in. But just as he turned around to press the button to the third floor, the uneasy feeling never went away.

The sudden itch of looking up and dying to find the source, demanded Jungkook to become curious at the wrong time. But the boy only stood within the elevator and peaked out into the dark abyss. Silence whispered into his ear until... he heard the shivering sound of an animal biting down onto what sounded like ripping flesh coming from one of the abandoned rooms close by. This caused Jungkook's heart to race as he repeatedly pressed onto the button to the third floor until the elevator doors finally closed shut.

"W-What was that...?" Jungkook whispered to himself and listened to his heart pound like gunshots being fired from afar. "Maybe... maybe I'm hearing things... there's no way an animal would be up there..." Jungkook assured himself and listened to the elevator play its continuous melody like always.

Jungkook couldn't help but to wonder what caused a sound like that to echo within the walls of his mind, but he knew better not to ask Jimin and let the man know about his escape from the room he was bound to. Jungkook just stood at the elevator and watched the floor travel downwards until... it stopped on the fifth floor.

"Please don't be Jimin..." Jungkook begged underneath his own breath while he kept his arms wrapped around his shivering body; still thinking of the horrendous sound playing over and over again in his mind while he tried to get rid of it. But no matter what he did, there was no way he could dismiss the sound of flesh ripping and being consumed in one bite.

When the elevator doors pulled open, Jungkook's horrified gaze met with Hoseok once more. The sight of the pale and weak older man left the boy relieved, but also surprised at his extended stay. Jungkook expected the man to be gone by now, but here he was, standing before him as if he never left in the first place.

"Glad to see that you're still alive..." Hoseok spoke as his deep voice dragged from one word to the next, expressing how tired he was from just the tone of his voice. He wore about the same black coat and matching pants with thick boots. He dressed as if winter was already creeping around the corner and his pale skin displayed the white snow of the first snowfall.

"Hoseok, what are you still doing here?" Jungkook asked curiously. Still trying to ease his rapid heartbeats from the sound he heard on the sixth floor. "How long are you planning to stay h-here?"

"What are you talking about?" Hoseok wondered and held the elevator door open to buy them more time. The way this man questioned the young boy, left Jungkook's head tilting to the side. "You should already know by now... no one is ever allowed to check out of this hell!"

"No one...?" Jungkook wondered and suddenly realized that he wasn't the only one being locked up in one room. Was that the true reason why he never found anyone wandering around the hallways of the hotel during his first stay? Jungkook tried to clear his mind and threw the sound he heard on the sixth floor, to the back of his mind at the moment. "Are you... locked up in your hotel room too?"

"No, I'm just not allowed to leave the hotel. Of course, we're allowed to wander around freely. But if we escape the hotel, we're done for..." Hoseok added and finally let go of the button. Knowing well that if he kept the elevator up on the same floor longer, he would have to face Jimin since the man was always wandering around the building at any given time. "Why are you asking this? Did Jimin switch up the rules? You're not allowed to leave the hotel, I don't recall him saying anything about leaving the rooms..."

"He... told me to never leave my room..." Jungkook mentioned and watched Hoseok grow silent and look at the helpless lamb in the eyes.

"Then... I guess you're just special..." Hoseok concluded as the elevator doors finally pulled ajar on the third floor. "I'm not one to warn you to stay in place, just don't get caught by him... good luck. If you ever can, don't forget to visit me on the tenth floor. It's not safe to discuss anything out in the open..." Hoseok whispered and gestured his head towards the opened elevator doors. "I'll be waiting..."

Jungkook noted how discreet Hoseok's words were as their conversation was cut short once the young boy walked out of the elevator. Jungkook only managed to keep in mind the invitation to Hoseok's room and remained silent. But his mind didn't seem to process the part where Hoseok mentioned something about the hotel having 'rules'. Could there really be such a thing within a hotel like this? Jungkook already knew this place was horrifying, but the idea that he wasn't the only one being held captive, left him remembering the endless daydreams Seokjin would have just staring out of the doors leading to the exit of the hotel.

"Seokjin... I bet he's suffering too.. everyone here is held captive, but why am I kept in Jimin's room like a prized possession?" Jungkook wondered and finally approached his hotel room. Right now, he couldn't focus on stressing about the many questions that boiled in his mind and only hoped to get into his room and take a hot shower to ease the stress he was put through.

Just as Jungkook tried to open the door, he realized that it was locked and let out a sharp exhale. "Please... no... I came all the way over here and forgot my key!" Jungkook thought and continued to fidget with the door in hopes that he could at least break in. The boy kept his hand latched onto the knob as he kept pushing the side of his hip against the center of the door. Even if he wasn't strong enough, Jungkook refused to return to the sixth floor now. At this point, he didn't know if he would ever have it in him to run back up to Jimin's room now just so he wouldn't get caught.

Surely, Jimin's actions were very questionable and the way this hotel locked away their unlucky guests, left Jungkook thinking that it was better to escape the hotel while he still managed to have enough energy. So as the boy kept slamming the side of his toned hips against the door to his hotel room, he finally pondered up the idea to rush inside, wash up, change out of his clothes, and gather all of his things to escape. Something in him knew nothing would happen, but his curiosity left him wondering what Jimin would do to him.

Minutes went into waste as Jungkook then began to kick against the door until he heard a nail hit the ground from within the hotel room. This allowed the old lock to break and suddenly allow the boy in. Jungkook didn't waste another second as he pushed his legs forward and got into the room once the door opened.

"I'll have to be quick," Jungkook thought and quickly pushed a drawer against the door so it wouldn't swing open on its own without the lock and the loose doorknob. Jungkook figured that he could take a quick shower in case Jimin was to walk in and find him here; in a way, Jimin wouldn't be able to tell if the boy had plans to escape, so Jungkook refrained from packing up until he was out of the shower.

The boy was quick to find his extra set of clothes and raced to the bathroom to make sure he was clean after such a long time he wasn't able to get up and wash himself. As soon as the boy stepped into the shower and switched the hot water on, he released all thoughts and only focused on the moment and himself before poisoning his mind with more stress about escaping the hotel.

"I can do it... as long as Jimin doesn't catch onto me, I can actually get out of this place..." Jungkook pondered to himself as he used one of the small shampoo bottles to scrub his short silk hair. "But... where will I go if Namjoon doesn't care?" Jungkook wondered.

That was the only thought that kept him from making an escape. After he escapes the hotel, where else could he go if Namjoon didn't want him? Would he return to the club and give in to his unhealthy drinking habit? Something in Jungkook still believed his brother figure was waiting for him to return while all the words he overheard that night, still bothered him. There was nowhere to go even if he managed to escape Jimin... but if he managed to return home to Namjoon, he wouldn't feel at peace when the place no longer felt like home. Not when he knew how Namjoon truly felt about supporting him.

Eventually, Jungkook stepped out of the shower with mixed emotions. He couldn't help but to wonder if he should stay or leave while he still could? Of course the hotel wasn't the best option alongside going back to Namjoon, but since the boy was afraid of confrontation, he couldn't tell which one he was more afraid of.

The young and confused boy then stepped out of the shower and dried himself off with a towel before putting on a bathrobe that was neatly folded into the towel rack. He concealed his naked body and avoided looking at himself in the mirror before he stepped out of the bathroom. But just as he stepped out, he suddenly heard the familiar chuckle that left his heart sinking to the bottom. His eyes scattered across the room, realizing that the drawer was pushed to the side and Jimin was sitting over the bed with a cryptic smile.

"Going somewhere?~" Jimin called out, sitting over the crimson bed without his mask and top hat concealing his perfect features.

There sat the perfect yet, mysterious man over the vibrant bed with his hands fixed over the comforter, and his devilish gaze locked onto the helpless little lamb standing by the bathroom doorway. Jimin then gave a gentle smirk and tilted his head before he raised his own hand up to the top buttons of his dress shirt and tugged the gentle fabric. Undoing the first few buttons with a tug and finally setting his hands back onto the bed while he kept his horrifying glare locked onto the terrified lamb.

"Answer me, Jeon Jungkook..."
