♠Us Against The World (Jarley)PT1♠
~~~Joel's P.O.V~~~
SHUT UP IT'S BONNIE AND CLYDE BUT JARLEY, YOU KNOW I CAN'T STAY AWAY FROM THAT IDEA--
"Sorry your boyfriend cheated on you, though.." I remarked pouring a cup of coffee.
"Not that I care or anything.. If he wants to go down and cheat on me, then good riddance." Elise waved her arm away before starting to balance the food on a tray.
"Something tells me you do care." Another voice perked up, as Elise raised a pointed finger. "Can it, Laurie!"
"Can't do that, Eli"
Elise grumbled before grabbing the tray and walking into the actual diner. That lovely ray of sunshine was Elise Brooke Newsmore. She is... a tiny demon. No exhautration, she's a whopping 4'11, but of course wears heels to assert her dominance over poor unsuspecting people.
The angry grump was Laurie, she mostly worked here to keep in charge. She basically watched to make sure we didn't burn down the kitchen. And of course get on Eli's nerves by teasing her. She was pretty chill though, so was Elise when you were on her good side.
"Blue, customers are here!" Eli called out.
"Coming!" I grabbed a notepad before walking out to the main place at a guy sitting near the windows, reading through a bit of notes. I looked around to see if anyone else was coming to sit by him.. Nobody, he was alone.
That was odd.. Nobody ever came to this Cafe alone, if I'm being honest.. Guess a pride thing, but this guy obviously didn't care. I shook my head before making my way over to him
"Hello, welcome to the Heartgraves Cafe.."
"Interesting name you got there," He remarked, blowing his hair out of his face. His voice was softer than anticipated, but was mostly smooth talked.
"Named after the owner,"
"After the owner or a bad break up?" The guy remarked, snickering softly at his own words.
"Uh, I'm not sure, haven't asked.."
"Unfortunate, I would have loved to know." He mocked pity as he looked up at me and I got a good look at him. Deep grey eyes that shone with mischievousness, a cocky smile on his face. His deep red hair that was curly and flopped into his face. Pale skin with freckles doting his entire face. He wore an oversized coat with fingerless gloves.
Needless to say his aesthetic was probably red.
Lots of red.
"So, are you here to stare at me or take my order?" He asked, his grin growing even cockier.
I felt my face slightly heat up before nodding. "Uh yeah, I'm here to.. Take.."
"Coffee, just coffee, I'm not in a spending mood," He answered before waving me off.
"R-Right.." I nodded before walking away.
"Oh, Sugar?"
"Don't call me that." I responded before he got the chance to say it again.
He grinned even more, "Kay... Sorry.. Sugar, I was gonna ask for a pen?"
"A pen?"
"Yes, the thing you use to write with? That thing that lets out ink? A pencil would also be acceptable Si, muchas gracias." He smiled before leaning back in the seat.
"Uh... want me to charge you for the pen?" I asked as he shook his head. "No, I'll give it back," He promised before looking out the window across the street. I looked out the window as well, a couple of shops, a small bank, and a gas station. There wasn't really anything on this street worth looking for. Wondering why he came to a place like this..
"Mhm..." I quickly raced back into the kitchen, beelining straight for the coffee maker.
"That guy was totally hitting on you." Laurie giggled.
"What?"
"He was hitting on you, Joel," She repeated.
I finished the coffee before grabbing a couple of cream and sugar packets. Remembering to grab a pen, before I walked back out there.
"Yeah, um, no. He wasn't just being an odd customer."
"He's kinda cute though.." Elise said longingly as she stared out from the kitchen. I chuckled softly, shaking my head before grabbing the tray.
"Maybe you should've taken his order instead." I teased as she looked up at me with a glare, her lips pressed into a frown.
"Gimmie that damn coffee." She tried to grab the tray from me, but of course I was able to hold it from her reach as I spun towards the door, she tried to again grab the coffee, the tray, or me but I had already walked out to the diner to his lonesome table.
"Coffee, and some sugar and cream." I placed the tray down.
"Lovely, and a pen?" He asked before his gaze landed on the pen, "Finally, everyone looks at me weird when I ask for a pen, sugar. Thanks for it."
"I should probably clarify my name is Joel.. not.. sugar.." I explained as he grabbed his coffee and pushed the tray towards me again.
"I like sugar better, It's sweet like you...? ugh that was disgusting, forget I said that." He waved me off, preferring to take his coffee black. I personally didn't like black coffee, but he didn't mind it apparently, pushing the cream and sugar packets towards me.
"Uh-huh... Listen, should I charge you now.. Or?"
"Yes, put it on my tab though,"
"We don't have tabs here?"
"Darn. Well, I guess you can just pour the coffee out, I'm not very spendy today, sugar." He shrugged, pushing the coffee back to me. I felt a small pang in my chest before I pushed the cup back towards him.
"I have no money, I'm working on-"
"Free of charge.."
He raised his eyebrow, in which I noticed a piercing on it as he stared at me, his face was a bit stone as he took me in. He looked away.
"You sure?"
"Tell me your name, I'll hold it to you to pay me back. I'll pay for you."
"You sure you aren't a cop trying to arrest me?" He asked suspiciously as he stared at me up and down again.
"I promise."
He seemed to weigh the choice in his head before placing his cup down again. He looked around before offering his hand to me. We locked hands as he gently shook it.
"Olsen. Harley William Olsen." Harley greeted shaking my hand gently, his face still a bit worried.
