Chapter 4: A Flicker in the Dark

The Radiant Rebellion's hideout was buried deep in the ruins of Old Haven, a district long abandoned after the Dominion's first conquest of Nova Haven. The crumbling buildings provided cover from drones and scanners, and the underground tunnels were perfect for evading patrols. But tonight, it wasn't safety that filled the room—it was tension.

Aleron paced in front of the holo-table, the schematics they'd stolen floating above it. His orange eyes flickered with barely contained rage as he studied the plans. "This is worse than we thought," he growled. "Theron isn't just making a device to control reality—he's tapping into ancient magic to do it."

Lyra sat in the corner, her normally calm face drawn tight with worry. Her hands toyed with the hilt of her twin energy blades, her silver hair shimmering in the dim light. "The power... I felt it when we were in the facility. It was the same energy as the one in my visions."

Taryn leaned back in his chair, his cybernetic arm clinking softly as he flexed the fingers. "I hacked through layers of encryption, but the deeper I went, the more encrypted data I found. This isn't just about control. It's about creating something new—a fusion of magic and tech we've never seen before."

Aleron slammed his fist on the table, the hologram flickering. "If Theron completes this, he'll be unstoppable. He'll control both reality and magic."

Lyra stood, her face resolute. "We have to stop him. But there's something you all need to know."

Both Aleron and Taryn turned to her. She hesitated, then continued, "The power he's tapping into... it's not from this world. It's ancient, yes, but it's not just magic—it's celestial. It's tied to the stars, to the energy I've been trained to protect. If he completes the device, he won't just control Nova Haven—he could destroy the fabric of reality itself."

A chilling silence filled the room as her words sank in.

"We need to act fast," Aleron said after a moment. "We hit the citadel. We end this."

Taryn shook his head. "It's not that simple. The citadel is a fortress. We'll need an army to breach it, and we don't have one."

Lyra's eyes narrowed. "We may not have an army, but we have something better. If I can tap into the same celestial energy that Theron is trying to harness, I can amplify our powers. It's dangerous... but it might be our only chance."

Aleron frowned, his protective instincts kicking in. "You're talking about using the same power that could destroy everything."

Lyra met his gaze. "Yes. But if I don't, everything will be lost anyway."
