Chapter 41: "AVENGERS! ...Assemble."
Captain America breathed heavily as his slouched form straightened and his body turned. He looked to the left and an orange portal opened behind him. Three silhouettes walked through the portal and stopped once Steve could see them properly. King T'Challa smiled at him, with Shuri on his left, and Okoye on his right. He nodded lightly before The Falcon soared through the portal and glided around Steve. Steve watched as his friend flew, while multiple other portals opened on the ground and in the sky, all from different countries and worlds.
Thanos watched every portal expand as more and more heroes walked through. Doctor Strange, Mantis, Drax, and Star Lord walked through their portal that came from Titan. Quill removed his mask as his eyes darted across the battlefield. He took in every detail and every villain they had to defeat. Spiderman used his webs to swing through the portal and land in front of Quill on a large piece of rubble. His smile grew after his mask removed itself.
"YIBAMBE!" T'Challa chanted.
"YIBAMBE!" All his warriors repeated.
"YIBAMBE!" T'Challa continued.
The rest of the warriors walked through the portals, as did other heroes from other worlds. Heroes that were previously thought to be deceased.
"YIBAMBE!"
Ships flew through the portals that stayed in the sky. Ships that didn't come from Earth.
"YIBAMBE!"
Thor summoned Stormbreaker into his right hand as he smiled at the display of hundreds of heroes and warriors that had come to their aid. Tony sat up and his eyes widened at the sight of his wife in her new blue and silver iron suit.
"YIBAMBE!"
"Is that everyone?" Doctor Strange asked Wong.
"What? You wanted more?" He asked with his face scrunched up in confusion. As if on cue, Ant Man broke out from under the large pile of debris and rubble, now significantly larger than any being that stood on the crumbling ground. He lowered his right hand and unclenched his fist to allow Bruce, Rhodes and Rocket to jump down. Rocket landed on War Machine's right shoulder. He cocked his gun and smirked, ready for battle. He looked up and saw his fiancé, (Y/N), still on Scott's right palm. Her wings were still wet, not entirely, but enough to impact her ability to fly. But she had a plan, so Rocket wasn't worried. His smirked grew bigger as his eyes fixated back onto their enemies ahead.
Once everyone was through the portals and got into their fighting stances, they all lined up and readied their weapons. It was only then that Thanos has begin to realise that there was now a chance that he wouldn't win, and that the Avengers refused to lose.
"AVENGERS!" Captain America called from the front. It was silent. Nobody made a sound or moved a muscle until Steve Rodgers said the word. "...Assemble."
Thor let out a battle cry, Black Panther followed pursuit. And right after, everyone had joined them. They all ran forward together as a unit, into battle. (Y/N) ran to the edge of Scott's finger and launched herself into the air. She dove down and went into a fast-paced glide. The wind slipped through her feathers and carried the excess water with it, allowing her wings to dry extra fast. As (Y/N) dove further, closer to the incoming enemies, Thanos pointed his double-sided sword, and his troops ran forward towards the Avengers.
Once (Y/N)'s wings stretched fully, they were completely dry. She reached behind her back and grabbed her rifle, killing multiple of Thanos's henchmen in a straight line before she pulled up. Every member fought viciously against the monstrous creatures, and it consistently looked as though the Avengers had the upper hand. Everyone that managed to survive Thanos's snap had paired up with the warriors that were brought back by Bruce when he used the gauntlet.
Captain America and Thor fought beside each other, and in the process had accidently swapped hammers. "No, no, give me that." Thor said with his hand stretched out. Steve passed Stormbreaker back to him. "You get the little one." Thor said as he threw Mjolnir back to Steve before leaping into the smoky sky.
Bucky and Rocket used their own guns with their backs facing each other, just like they did during the battle against Thanos's goons in Wakanda, five years ago.
Iron Man blasted each creature with his suits weapons until he was knocked down by one of Thanos's larger minions. The monster was about to land the final blow before it was pulled back by Spiderman's webs and crushed underneath Ant Man's giant foot. "Hey!" Peter gasped as he jumped over the dead creature. He ran over to Tony and helped him back on his feet. Both of their masks were now removed, as they locked eyes. "Holy cow! You will not believe what's been going on. Do you remember when we were in space? And I got all dusty? And I must've passed out because I woke up and you were gone." Peter rambled. Tony barely listened, instead he took in all the details of the boys face.
"But, Doctor Strange was there, right? And he was like, 'It's been five years! Come on, they need us!' And then he started doing the yellow sparkly thing that he does all the time- What are you doing?" Tony cut him off with a hug after Peter had imitated Doctor Strange's hand movements. Tony hugged the boy tightly, as words weren't enough to express how much he had missed the kid that he viewed as his own son. Peter sighed calmly yet shocked, "this is nice." He hugged father figure back, just as tight.
Quill flew over the enemies as he blasted their heads and hearts. One alien jumped onto his back and Quill fell down into a broken part of a ship. He fought two aliens and kicked one down before he shot him. The other punched Quill in the face. Star-Lord fell on his back as the alien held his weapon up high. Before he could strike down, he died instantly from a blast in the back. Quill threw him off and sat up abruptly when he caught sight of a familiar green assassin. He took off his mask and stared in wonder and hope. "Gamora?" He asked with a raspy breath. He walked out of the broken part of the ship, towards his lover, who he previously assumed to be sacrificed by Thanos. "I thought I lost you." He recalled. He placed a gentle hand on Gamora's right cheek. "Hi..." He smiled.
Gamora reached for his hand but grabbed his wrist firmly. She pulled and twisted it back so it wasn't on her face. "Ow-" Quill winced.
"Don't-" Gamora kneed Quill in the groin. "-touch me!" And she kneed him again, before Quill fell onto his back in pain.
"You missed the first time." He gasped. "Then you got 'em both the second time." Nebula walked up next to Gamora and simply watched Quill roll around in pain.
"This is the one?" Gamora asked her sister, as she had expected someone more warrior-like if they had the ability to sweep her off her feet. "Seriously?"
"Your choices were him, or a tree." Nebula pointed out.
'What?!' Quill mouthed to her, still in visible pain.
