Multiverse
That was his hero name.
"U-um, yeah?" Midoriya answered a bit hesitantly, "W-why do y-you ask?"
"What do you know about it?" Nedzu inquired.
"I-it's another way o-of reading Izuku...?" Midoriya wasn't going to directly admit anything. He didn't know this world's memories. Izuku didn't even know the laws of this place.
Aizawa stared Midoriya down, watching as the green-headed boy attempted not to squirm under his gaze. "Is that all?"
"W-with all d-due respect, w-why do y-you ask?"
"It must be fair trade, Midoriya. What do you know of the name Deku?"
Midoriya's lips pressed into a grim line. Nedzu merely smiled, "Perhaps we should explain the situation to you..."
Needless to say, Izuku Midoriya walked out of there drowning in disbelief.
~~~
He had heroics last, and that relieved Midoriya. It meant he still had time. Time to somehow come up with a valid reason as to why he knows the name 'Deku' aside from Kacchan.
Aside from Kacchan...
Izuku hadn't talked to much of his friends lately, has he? Izuku blames it on his situation, he's too busy, he's stressed but...
He can't just ignore his friends. So when he made it to the lunch table, the first thing he did was apologize.
That surely caused a round of laughter. "Midori! You're busy and we know!" Ashido said, "don't stress it, it's fine."
Midoriya smiled gratefully, "thanks."
"'Newayz," Hagakure said, "why were you coming to school with Tokoyami-san?"
"That's not exactly my situation to share."
This made Ashido and the others more curious. Yaoyorozu was the one who spoke next, "Is it a personal issue?"
Midoriya nodded, "Tokoyami's, not mine."
Ashido was going to inquire but Yaoyorozu cut her off, "Ashido-san, we can't interfere if it's not our issue."
("Meddling when you're not supposed to is what heroes do!")
Ashido frowned, "but what if we can help Tokoyami-san somehow?"
"It's none of our business, Ashido," Hagakure sounded somewhat annoyed, which Ashido obviously didn't catch.
"But it was none of Midori's business when he decided to help us but he did it anyway."
"That's different," Kaminari said, "Midori wants to help everyone. You don't have to."
"But I want to," Ashido Mina's eyes glinted with the resolve of something very familiar to Midoriya, a resolve of a hero. The resolve of someone that Midoriya thought he'd never see again. "I want to help people, like Midori. I want to see them smile after I try."
Kaminari stays silent at that.
"Haven't you ever tried to help someone after Midori helped you?"
~~~
"You and Nedzu are insane."
All For One looked amused as he stared as his student, "Perhaps."
Midoriya sighed, "Let me get this straight... You want me to fill up the hero course in a year?"
"Yes. Didn't your UA have a hero course?"
"Yeah, but I have no clue if have of them here want to be a hero," Midoriya replied, "I helped someone pick up their things after they dropped them today and that person asked why I helped them. Do you really think they'd want to be heroes here? Everyone's all for themselves."
"But you, Midoriya, have a way of inspiring people," All For One's eyes crinkled, the telling sign that he would be smiling if he weren't wearing the mask.
"So I've been told."
"Additionally, most of the teachers are too busy for this."
Midoriya sighed for the second time, "Okay, I'll do it."
Midoriya couldn't see it but he knew All For One was grinning -manipulative bastard-. All For One replied a "that's wonderful!"
Which left Midoriya wondering, why was he stuck doing the school's dirty work?
~~~
Izuku didn't know what his self here was thinking, but he knew it was insane. His self here didn't have a quirk but was working with All Might, the villain. And not only that, so was Hisashi. This made Izuku dread going home after those revelations. How exactly he found out?
His phone was somehow very secure. It had him thinking that he had some level of hacking. It had added protection from viruses and other hackers. But how had Izuku noticed that? Originally, from the fact that his phone had a troubleshoot terminal. Normally, those things are found on laptops, chromebooks, macbooks... But on a phone? Rarely.
In those encrypted files, he found plans from All Might, various information about the organization One For All, and the origins of it too. The longer Izuku stayed in this world, the more messed up it seemed to turn.
One For All was a propaganda organization started by the Hero Commission Board to control the public. Somehow, they found out about the quirk, One For All. Then as a well-fleshed plan, they sent this world's Toshinori Yagi which had been trained by them specifically for infiltration to get it, made him manipulate Shimura Nana and get One for All. But to Izuku's confusion, instead of having All For One be the villain, it was All Might.
Although, yeah, it was effective in the elimination of heroes, it just drew the question of is All Might truly a villain, or a pawn being used as one? Of course, that was only the simplified version of the history that Izuku concluded from the various files of information, the web, and some of the Reformation's story.
This world was... Confusing. And much to Izuku's annoyance, it only got more confusing since he was called to Nedzu's office because according to Principal Rat;
("The Toshinori Yagi in front of you is much like you, from a different world. He claims to have known you. The reason we're telling you this is that... Well, this was all a mistake. This All Might's original quirk is portal jumping, he reverse wired it and now can pull things in and out of dimensions. Thus, you and Yagi.")
Which merely made Izuku concerned and even more confused but decided to eventually push it off to think about later. And according to Izuku's non-existent internal clock, later wasn't now. In all his thinking, the green-haired teen hadn't noticed that he made it home (which was actually somewhat concerning to Izuku) and now had no reason as to why he can't talk to his dad.
Which then had Izuku's mind rewinding as he remembered a situation he hadn't exactly cleared up- What happened to Tokoyami? Izuku somehow didn't believe that Tokoyami talked to the teachers about his situation, and Izuku forgot about it honestly.
Too many things happened today... I need a nap. Izuku was excited -no, elated- for his nap. He knocked on the door.
Like always (in this world, anyway) the door opened to reveal a face that keeps getting increasingly familiar. Hisashi Midoriya. "Welcome back, Izuku," Hisashi greeted.
"Thanks, Dad," The word 'Dad' still slipped off uneasily to Izuku. Izuku's only father-like figures were Toshinori and Aizawa, totally not his actual dad. Izuku walked into the house and went straight to his room, not even inquiring if there was food left over for him. Which there shouldn't be, considering that Hisashi was at work and probably got takeout.
Izuku facepalmed into his bed and closed his eyes.
~~~
He didn't open his eyes for another two hours. He really needed that nap. Izuku, now fully awake, began comprehending the situation much better, which can be summed up into a few bullet points;
-All Might #2 has a quirk that can f*ck up the multiverse
-He is a part of the f*cked up mutiverse
-This universe's government is trash
-This universe is backwards
-Izuku needs to fill up the hero course by the end of the year.
And this time, he's definitely getting Shinsou in it. Izuku knows he deserves to be a hero.
Izuku sighed.
He has a lot to do.
