Examining

School... Was a drag, to be honest.

Izuku Midoriya felt about done with it, but what's new?

On his way home, he experienced some strange things. One, there was someone watching him.

Two, that someone stands out so much and isn't necessarily quiet.

Izuku didn't want to deal with this right now. If they needed something, they could meet him at the park, that's what everyone does nowadays anyway.

When Izuku walked into the house, he was greeted by such a pissed of Hisashi, that he almost slammed the door and left. But of course, he didn't, he knew that'd only piss of Hisashi even more. Izuku didn't want that, this man had connections, connections that Izuku doesn't. Therefore, Izuku's an angel when at home, who knows, maybe Hisashi has an assassin stashed somewhere-

" Izuku ."

("Izuku." His mother looked at him with the most beautiful smile, but her eyes told everything about the exploding anger underneath. "-----, ------- ----." Izuku was so afraid of her anger he didn't hear what she said, but he didn't dare ask.)

Izuku glanced at Hisashi, "Yes, dad?"

"I told you to drop out of the hero course."

You tell me a lot of things, Izuku didn't dare say that now. He knew that staying silent would piss Hisashi off even more. It was unnerving how much he knew about Hisashi when it's only been a few weeks. "It's a process, dad."

Hisashi gritted his teeth in barely suppressed anger, "Izuku Mikumo Midoriya."

Izuku knew he was in some deep sh*t right now, "Yes, dad?"

"You are not a hero, and you never will be."

Ironic, Izuku found himself thinking, The Izuku from this universe would think otherwise though. But I'm not that Izuku, I'm Deku. "Okay, dad."

And there, Hisashi blew up. He grabbed Izuku by the hair, "Listen, you little— you will not be a hero. You will inherit One for All, you will continue the bloodline."

Izuku covered his mouth to prevent himself from doing anything in pain, he looked into Hisashi's eyes. The irony, Izuku thought, I already have One For All, you old fart. "Okay, dad."

The grip on Izuku's hair tightened, "Don't 'okay, dad' me, Izuku, who do you think you are?"

Oh, I know what I am. "Okay, sir."

The grip on his hair tightened again.

"Okay, Hisashi-san!"

His hair was let go. Hisashi glared at Izuku, "finally. I decided that until you complete the family business, you are not my son."

What's the family business? Izuku wanted to ask so badly, villainy? He stayed silent, however, to prevent the burning wrath.

~~~
Izuku went to school the next day, and surprisingly, he didn't go to the office trying to drop out of the hero course. Hell nah, no matter what Hisashi says, Izuku's not giving up. Though he was in for a surprise when he walked into his 'hero class' for the day.
"Midoriya!" Nedzu chirped in greeting.
"Principal Nedzu," Izuku replied, "Why is..." He looked around spotting a few others like Aizawa and Present Mic. "...everyone here?"
"We decided that you should be the proctor of the hero exams!"
"Hero exams?"
"Yes," All For One said, "We can't just immediately put those people you have on the list in the hero course, they need an exam."
Izuku nodded, "Okay. So what will the exam be on?"
"We have absolutely no clue," Toshinori Yagi said.
Izuku glanced over to where Yagi was. He didn't notice Yagi was here, and for no reason at all, it unnerved him slightly. "Okay. So how are we going to figure something out?"
"What did you have as an exam back in your universe, Midoriya?" All For One asked.
Izuku wasn't used to people knowing that he wasn't from here. He had to remember that yes, he did tell the teachers here. "Well... Back home everything was different. The exam was still dangerous even when we had quirks, it'd be somewhat impossible without a really good plan or a quirk."
Nedzu noted how he referred to the other dimension as his 'home,' which made sense since he wasn't from here. "Did you guys fight robots?"
"Yes."
Nedzu nodded, "That used to be the entrance exam."
The room was silent as everyone thought of something. "Do you young'ins still play tag?" Yamada asked.
Izuku tilted his head in confusion, "Tag? I haven't played that since—"
"Why are you asking?" Aizawa asked in such a way that it sounded like Yamada's question was an annoyance, which it probably was.
Suddenly, Nedzu's eyes sparkled, "We can have them play tag!"
The teachers and Izuku snapped their attention to Nedzu. All For One was very confused, "What do you mean?"
"They have to tag specific moving objects or people for points," Nedzu grinned as he spoke, "They can also steal another person's points by tagging them."
Izuku's lips thinned to a line, "How will this work? What will they tag?"
Nedzu's eyes scanned the room, "I hope you guys still remember how to be a pro-hero."
~~~

Izuku frowned as he stared at his food. The talk with Todoroki seemed to be playing on repeat in his mind.

"Midori?" Hagakure asked.

Izuku looked up at her, "Yes?"

"Is there something wrong?" Hagakure asked.

Izuku sighed. He found himself doing that way too often now. "No. Not really."

"Hey, you guys know that history quiz we have right-?" Ashido asked, "Does anyone actually remember the Reformation clearly?"

Kaminari hummed, "Yeah. That's basic knowledge, Mina. You see-"

Izuku tuned out the conversation from there. He saw Kacchan casting him a worried glance. And then, once again, he felt something watching him. Izuku looked up again and scanned the caféteria, and surely enough, he caught the person.

...Mineta? Why was he- Izuku jumped slightly when Kacchan poked him.

"Who are you staring at?" Kacchan demanded.

Izuku shrugged, "The wall on the other side looks very interesting today."

Kacchan frowned, "Are you okay? There's something wrong."

Is Mineta stalking me or something? He's been watching since yesterday. Maybe I should go to the park today... "I'm fine," Izuku said, "There's just a lot on my mind."

Ashido shrugged, "If you say so."

~~~
Izuku was walking home. Everything was quite peaceful until he felt the hair on the back of his head stand up. He quickly scanned the environment and continued on his trek home.
When opening the door to his house, Hisashi doesn't even bother greeting anymore. Izuku did the normal procedure and walked into the house, "Hello, Hisashi-san."
"Did you drop out?"
"I'm not in the course if I haven't taken the exam," Izuku lied. He actually had no idea if he also had to take an exam, most likely a different one than the one they discussed today.
Hisashi narrowed his eyes. "Okay. You have a job order. I expect it to be completed by tonight."
"Yes, Hisashi-san," Izuku replied. He quickly walked away, getting into his safe place called his room. A job order? Izuku glanced at the computer on his desk. He placed his bookbag down on the floor next to the desk as he sat in the chair. Izuku logged in tiredly, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
When he saw the order, time seemed to have stopped.
'Order 456: Get information on former pro-hero, 'Shimura Nana'. Locate possible locations of 'Shimura Tenko.'
The second half can be completed later on. URGENT. I need the information right away. $124.'
First of all, that's a lot of money for this order, Izuku frowned, Second of all, who is Shimura Tenko?
Nonetheless, Izuku got to work.
~~~

Izuku felt himself remembering a lot of things in the silence that was the night. But one thing seemed to have his brain on overdrive.

"You will inherit One For All, you will continue the bloodline," Hisashi had said.

Does that mean that everyone in my main family has had One For All or am I just overanalyzing? He couldn't have meant One for All specifically, right? If yeah, then am I related to Shimura Nana? To All Might? But that shouldn't be possible. One For All isn't genetic, it chooses its wielders...

Izuku let out a sigh. This just got much more complicated.

~~~
Why was he so tired? It was morning now. Izuku did a quick visit to the park and he saw a little girl. That little girl turned out to be someone he knew so much, in his universe anyway. He couldn't believe he actually saw her. Eri?
The little girl, as if called, seemed to look his way. She tilted her head and then frowned. The girl opened her mouth to say something but quickly closed it again. Her hands were fidgeting with the hems of her dress.
"Hey, are you okay? Are you lost?" Izuku asked, slowly walking towards Eri.
"I don't speak to villains."
