5. Mr. Love Em and Leave Em

Besides school, he did have his work on his album going strong.

Getting signed to Da Factory Hitz was a dream, but since his sister, Sarena was not in charge of A&R anymore, she took on his role as manager and she was up in their faces about him. She was his ride-or-die, his biggest fan.

Whereas before they only had him on songwriting, Sarena fought to get him in the studio to record some of the songs he was writing. He had ghostwritten some of Tone's rap songs for his album and wrote several for his sister Tennille.

Now it was his time.

He could blow. He knew he had pipes. Even without his sisters being the famous Kelly sisters, he would have gotten a record deal. Eventually. He was only twenty-one, and he was not expecting it to happen overnight. He planned on finishing college before setting off for L.A. to land a deal. Now he could stay local and be close to his family.

At Da Factory Hitz studio, he holed up in one of the recording booths with an engineer and did what he did best, sing.

He liked to sing about love and being romantic with girls, although he was nothing like what he wrote about. Fuck love, and he didn't have an ounce of romance in his body. Sex them and rest them. He never bought a girl a flower, took them on a date, or whispered sweet nothings in their ear, but he knew that's what they wanted. He knew about the female fantasy and he gave them that in song.

The new song he worked on was called "Last Girl Standing," but it was about him and that he was a guy that every girl wanted. A song about how he had his pick of the hottest girls and no one was the right one for him. So maybe the last girl standing would be the one.

He doubted what he was singing, but he knew a good song.

After he recorded "Last Girl Standing," he left the booth and was shocked to see his sister Nola sitting with the engineer listening.

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

"Bored, came to see what you were up to."

"How did you know I was here?"

She held up her phone. "Because you tweet every single thing you do. I told you boy that is dangerous."

He grabbed his sister in a hug. "Ain't nobody gonna do shit to me!"

"You're packing?"

"Packing what?"

He was not stupid, he knew all his sisters carried the heat. He knew Victor trained them with guns and fighting. He was not about that life, but good for them.

"You want to come down to the gun range and practice with me? I go once a week."

"Nope. I ain't trying to do all that."

"Yo CJ, you want to hear the playback?" his engineer said to him.

"No, I'm cool, you can roll out, Imma just hang with my sis."

After the engineer left, he sat at the board so he could play with and mix up his song. He was not only a writer, he knew how to produce as well.

"Heard the song?"

"Yeah, I like it. Are you in love or something? Who was that song about? You have a girl ready to be the last one standing?"

"No one. Just a song. Fiction."

"Okay, sure, Mr. Love Them and Leave Them."

He grinned, that sounded like an idea for another song.

In a few months, he had grown close to Nola and she knew all his deep dark secrets. She knew he slept around with many girls, and never had a girlfriend. She knew how he felt about his mother, loving her and loathing her at the same time for putting up with their father.

Whenever Nola talked about her mother, he envied her. He wished his mother was more like that and would not put up with Christopher Sr.'s antics. That man was scum. He never wanted to be anything like him.

"Me? Love them and leave them?" He chuckled at her. "Hmmm, that seems to be you, lil sis, I mean, isn't that what you did to my boy?"

She groaned at him and laid her head down on the table as he continued to mess with the levels of his song. What happened between Nola and Tone was still a mystery to him. He knew Tone worshipped the ground Nola walked. That boy had it bad for his sister.

Then suddenly, out of nowhere, she broke up with him. That man was a mess for weeks, literally going crazy over his sister. Since he had gotten close to Tone as well, and considered him his best friend, he was split between the two. Tone wanted him to find out what he did wrong, but Nola never wanted to talk about it.

"All you have to do is say the word, and my boy would take you back." He snapped his fingers. "Just like that."

"You think?" She sat up, grabbed her phone, and scrolled through some things. "Look!"

He took her phone and looked at what was on display. It was Tone's IG page and it was filled with pictures of him and that fine-ass Riyah James. Baby girl had a smoking hot body, and face like an angel, she was top tier.

"Dammmmn! He smashing Riyah! On God, I'd drink her bath water."

"Eeew!" Nola snatched her phone from him.

"Oh, my bad, I mean...yo, why do you care? You dumped him."

"I know."

"And he's moving on, probably just smashing, so...."

"I know!"

"What?"

"We weren't...you know, doing all the things. Maybe that's what he needed. Good for him."

"So you're happy he's moved on? Sounds like you're jealous."

Nola smacked the back of his head. "I'm not! I do not want to be with Tone. I just...it's weird seeing him with someone else that's all."

"Bro didn't even tell me, you know I'm giving him hell." He grinned, thinking of how lucky his friend was. "I want all the details."

Nola smacked him in the back of the head again.

"You're going to get tired of meaningless sex, girls that mean nothing to you, and not connecting with a person. Grow up CJ, it's not cute."

He stopped the playback of his song and turned to his sister to give her his full attention.

"I could say the same for you. Wasting away after you let a guy that was crazy about you go. My homie was saying the L word to you and shit...that's where I get the nerve to write these corny-ass love songs, because of what he felt for you. I know that was real. So why did you push him away?"

"This is not about me."

"Then don't get into my relationships or lack thereof."

They sat there quietly for a while. Yes, they both were fucked up. Maybe it was baby of the family syndrome. Nola never had her father around, all her life, and he had a deadbeat around. He did not see real love between his parents, and Nola never saw that either.

"I want to be happy one day, CJ, but...I need to get through my own shit. Losing my sister, all that..."

"She was my sister too."

"I know." Nola wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "I'm so glad you came around before all of this and I got to know you. I can't even talk to my sisters about it. It seems like they have all moved on."

"They haven't. They're hurting too."

Not that he went to see any of them in recent weeks. He saw Sarena often, but that was it. Tennille was always too busy traveling and living it up in L.A. Krystle was now in Italy, so good luck ever building a relationship with her. Kitty was surrounded nearly twenty-four-seven by guards and the media, she barely left her house.

He needed to get to know the rest of his sisters as well as he knew Nola.

A/N: CJ will have an interesting dynamic. Raised as an only child, now he has all these sisters he does not know. Realize it's been less than a year he has known about them. No time to bond because they all have their own lives. Another reason I wanted to write his perspective.
