Chapter Twenty-One

Chapter Twenty-One

"Wake up, Madeline." a kind voice said. I blinked my eyes open a few times, wondering where I was. I was laying in a bed, blankets covered me. It was freezing, and light poured in through one of the windows. I was wearing my old night gown that...I had left in the other world....

I wasn't in Narnia anymore.

"Madeline? Are you alright?" a little girl asked as she sat on the side of my bed. I knew that face. I knew thoughs freckles and cute little buck-teeth like the back of my hand. I hugged her, I wrapped my arms around her little shoulders. I was so relieved to see her. I hadn't realized how much I had missed her til I had woken up and saw her sitting on the side of my bed.

"Lucy. What are you doing here?" I asked her. She looked at me, unsure of something. I smiled, knowing exactly what she was here for. I stood up, took a step forward, made an invisible 'N' on my cheek, and then crossed my heart. She squealed happily.

"Yay! I thought I was going crazy for a second!" she said.

"Where are your brothers and sister?" I asked her. She smiled and took my hand.

"They're down stairs eating breakfast!" she said and started to pull me out of the door.

"Lucy! Wait! Let me get dressed first!" I said. She stopped dragging me and I walked back into my room. I quickly changed out of my nightgown into a skirt, and t-shirt. I sat on my bed and sighed, disappointed that I wasn't in Narnia anymore.

"Do you know if your brothers and sister had the same dream we did?" I asked her. She gave me a small smile.

"Yes, I had asked them when we all woke up. But they all had forgotten the signal, so they asked me to come up and ask you." she said to me. I thought for a second.

"Lucy, when we get down there don't tell them that I had remembered. Don't speak of this to anyone, I want them to be the ones to ask me if I remember." I said to her. She looked shocked, and I wasn't surprised. She began to speak, but then stopped. We walked down to the kitchen, and I saw all three of them sitting at the kitchen table, eating their breakfast. My heart beat quickened when Peter and I  made eye contact. What would he say? Was he lying when he said that he remembered? I sat down next to Lucy as Mrs.Mcready handed me my plate of eggs. I slowly ate my food, and stopped to look at each Pevensie every few moments. They looked as if we were still strangers.

"Madeline?" Mrs.Mcready asked, pulling me out of my trance. I quickly looked at her.

"Yes, Mrs.Mcready?" I asked her. She eyed me suspisciously.

"Are you feeling well?" she asked me. I honestly wasn't sure. My heart was shattering as I discovered that none of them remembered. I felt it in my gut that they honestly would have no idea what Narnia was. I stood up from my seat.

"Actually, I'm not sure. My head feels funny, I think I need some fresh air." I said and left the room, receiving strange looks from each Pevensie. I heard Mrs.Mcready calling my name, but I didn't care. I continued to walk, not caring. For once I wasn't going to listen to her. For once I was going to do what I wanted to. I didn't care about anything anymore. Everyone I cared about couldn't remember what we had been through.

"Madi! Wait!" Edmund shouted and rased after me. I stopped and turned around, hope in my heart.

"Yes, Edmund?" I asked. He looked up at me. He took a step forward, made an invisible 'N' on his cheek, and crossed his heart. I squealed with joy and hugged him.

"You remember!" I said and hugged him tighter. We both laughed and danced around. Peter, Susan, and Lucy ran into the hall to see what was the matter. Peter saw me hugging Ed, and his face turned red with jealousy. I smirked and stepped away from Ed. I took a step forward, made an invisible 'N' on my cheek, and crossed my heart. The other three erupted in cheers and wrapped me in their arms for a group hug. We all laughed as Mrs.Mcready eyed us suspiscously.

"Maybe you five should go outside." she said and walked back into the kitchen, leaving us in a heap on the floor. We all laughed and hugged again.

"I was so scared that you guys had forgotten." I admitted. We all stood up from the floor, Susan smiled at me. I was happy to see her again. She was like the best friend I had always wanted. No, she was like the sister I had always wanted.

"We would never forget you. You're like a sister to us. Well, most of us." she said and we all chuckled as we walked outside. I hung back, and so did Peter. The guys pretended not to notice and left us to chat alone. I could hear Lucy giggle, and I had to chuckle. She was such a mischievious little child. But she had me wrapped around her finger. That was one of her many amazing qualities, she could wrap anyone around her small little fingers.

"So..." I said, smiling at him. He smiled back and wrapped his arms around me. I hugged him back, loving the fact that I was with him again. His strong arms felt so right when they were around me, it felt so right to be with him. Peter meant everything to me, and I didn't know what I would do without the crazy goon.

"I love you." I told him. I meant what I said. I truly did love him. Even though some times he was a goof ball, I still thought he was an amazing person. He squeezed me tight.

"I love you too." he said with a grin and kissed my cheek. Then we ran outside to regroup with the others.

I had a really good feeling about this.
