Marvelous Clay Discovery pt. 6
∆Clay∆
I hadn't been with Fuller in a while. He was the only person I was helping at the moment, so I needed to fill my schedule with something to keep me from more trouble than I may already do.
"This is kidnapping." Arlo scowled from the corner of my eye as I drove us down the road.
"You're not a kid, and if anything I kidnapped your plant so you would come into my car with me somewhere." I rolled my eyes as I made a turn towards the plant shop.
"I already have food, no need to buy me any." they said as I pulled to a stop, parking the car.
I said nothing until we walked first into the store. "Doesn't your plant need a friend, some company?"
"I'm all the company my cactus needs-"
"Wow, I haven't seen you in a while." A voice grumbled, I turned my head in the direction of the voice to see Marvon. Obviously he was pleased to see me.
I grinned waltzing over with Arlo right behind me, them sighing as well made our way to the counter Marvon stood behind. "Good to see you too, so my friend here needs a spray bottle for their plant and a friend."
"My cactus is happy with just me...but that bottle would be nice." Arlo mumbled the last part, causing a smirk to find its way onto my face.
"If Arlo doesn't want to have cacti, then they don't want it. But you can look at the spray bottles in the back. I suggest the turquoise one with rhinestones, not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but long, well tall-"
"Like this dick." Words that were supposed to only stay in my head seeped past my lips.
"So childish." Arlo grumbled pinching his forehead, as Marvon stared at me with wide eyes and his skin darker than usual.
"And that's why you're no longer allowed inside the establishment." Arlo explained to me with a plastic bag in hand, a little sun with a happy face on it.
"It was an accident, and it's just a little thing not big enough where I should be kicked out." I huffed as they got in the car.
"I think you deserved it, you should have not been thinking that way. Besides, you know Marvon can't stand you. Yet your chose this place to go to."
"Whatever, let's go get something to eat." I shut the door for them before they could and sped off as they were putting on their seatbelt.
"You know...if you like Marvon why don't you just be nice to him and get to know him-"
I stopped immediately in the middle of the highway, cars curved around me quickly and I heard honking in all different directions.
"WHAT THE HELL CLAY?!" Arlo glanced around wildly and slammed their fist on my thigh to make my foot push down on the gas, but I didn't budge.
After a moment I laughed and started driving again, I'm sure everyone in their cars hated me.
"You need help, if you got us killed what were you gonna do?"
"Sleep forever."
Arlo immediately punched my arm causing me to wince from the impact. Their hit was a lot harder than before. They eyed me coldly, I wouldn't be too surprised if they forced me to pull the car over and walked home.
"I don't understand why you have to be such an asshole, why are we even...what even are we?"
That's something I asked myself to time to time. Arlo wasn't exactly nice, but who was I to say that. We so happened to connect during Theater, a class we both dreaded to take and their still in school while I barely show up there weekly.
"You just really scared me...you could have got us seriously hurt."
"I promise you, that you would have just been fine."
"How could you promise such a thing, especially from that? And what about you?" they scoffed looking away from me, down at the bag that held the spray bottle and so happened to have a cactus in it too.
"I just can, and to your comment other I don't like him that way. I'm the one who helps with love and stuff, I don't get into it. Well unless you count you and I."
"I have no idea what you mean but I hope you're not confessing to me."
"EW! I mean I love you maybe, but not that way." I turned up my nose at them as they let out a sigh in relief.
"Thank god, otherwise that would have made things awkward. You know I don't like those kind of relationships." They said and silence stayed between us for a while. "So are you a matchmaker or something?"
"Or something." I answered and they gave me a confused stare for a minute but nodded.
"So that's your job? How is that going for ya?"
"Yeah, long story. Also another long story, but let's say I got myself a handful. Not only will I have to help this guy with this girl...but I think his family may need some help too. I checked things out but didn't speak to him or stay long. So my job just got more complicated." I sighed and glanced over at Arlo for a moment to find him blinking at me. "What?"
"You sound serious for once."
I shot him a glare but their shocked features didn't leave their face. "It's kind of the reason why I still have my place to myself so yeah."
"Well you have to tell me more about this weird occupation. In return I will get Marvon to like you, since you seem to have trouble with helping yourself to do what you do for others."
"I said," I turned to look at them with my eyes blazing. "I. don't. like. MARVON!"
