Blossoms in Full Bloom Pt. 4

|Fuller|

Our dinner the night before was like every ordinary day, except I could not keep up with the conversations around me. I was in my own world about the girl, and the incident in the car. But there will be no more distractions!

Because it was a school day, and school would definitely keep my mind busy. At least I hoped for that to be true. But life keeps proving me wrong recently.

"Fuller." a voice boomed suddenly, I jolted looking around frantically, to find my friends staring at me strangely.

I sighed in relief, my shoulders relaxed. Knowing it wasn't that weird voice- self conscious of mine, was good to know.

"You've been off all day." David, my friend said quirking one of his bushy eyebrows at me. "Why?"

"Yeah, it's freaking us out." my other friend, Rashaad agreed, only to be nudged by Shannon.

"What he means to say, is that we're worried about you." Shannon said leaning forward clasping my hands, her blue eyes staring at me.

The guys cleared their throats, as I almost did the same. I smiled a little pulling my hands away from hers.

"Don't worry too much, I'm fine guys." I said smiling more, to reassure them.

"What's on your mind?" Jhene asked before sipping her chocolate milk, gaining all of our friends' attention.

"Urm, well..." I started to glance anywhere but at them.

"Oh my god, you like-" Jhene started.

"Don't say god like that." I interrupted quickly, causing her to roll her eyes.

"Yeah, my bad. I didn't mean no harm, you know that." she huffed before continuing to drink her milk.

"Wait, go back. Like what?" Shannon asked glancing between Jhene and me.

"I stand with Shannon." Rashaad spoken up, shooting a smirk my way.

I glared at him, but replaced it with a smile when Shannon glanced over at me. She quirked an eyebrow at me, obviously she wanted her question answered.

I wasn't blind, I knew she fancied me. But I was focused on my studies, and my faith. Well I tried to be, now it seems like I have came to an obstacle in life- It must be a test!

"Someone is on his mind obviously, and it couldn't be just some friend or something. He likes someone." Jhene said suddenly, pulling me out of my thoughts.

Shannon's eyes seemed to pierce through me, as David and Rashaad gave each other looks before looking my way.

"When?" David asked straight away, leaning forward with a grin.

"I can't believe that you, you like someone." Rashaad commented.

"I don't like anyone, I don't even know her name." slipped from my lips, which Shannon's eyes seemed to turn into ice, trying to kill me with her glare.

"So I was right." Jhene replied with a triumph smile, only egging the guys on.

"Just someone I met at church." I mumbled when I was tired of the two pestering me.

David and Rashaad glanced at each other, before bursting into laughter. I furrowed my eyebrows at them, while Shannon rolled her eyes. Jhene paid no mind, she was too busy enjoying her lunch.

"Of course you met someone at church. Why are we not surprised?" David said laying his cheek on his fist, looking at me.

"They know Spanish?" The voice from before asked out of nowhere.

Which it should have known the answer to that since it was in my head. But I tried to ignore it, I didn't want to behave even more odd than I already am it seems.

"Ask them for help! And tell that girl you don't like her!" The voice yells.

"Urgh!" I muttered loudly rubbing my ears, catching my friends' attention.

"You alright?" David asked frowning while the others looked at me with concern as well.

"Yes...sorry." I sighed while shaking my head. "I think I just need more rest tonight." I said before the bell rang.

"Sound out the words, I'll try to help as you go." I explained to the little girl, as she stuck her tongue out while looking at the word road.

I did tutoring every Tuesday and Wednesday after school, sometimes even on the weekends. Before I usually went to church, during the week I went afterward. And if I wasn't tutoring, I was picking up trash from the ground or at a club. Rarely I was at home during the week before church started or doing something productive.

"Rah-o-ahuh-duh" The little girl read, then glanced up at me for confirmation.

"Say 'row-duh'" I explained pointing at the word, trying to help her understand.

As she tried to repeat a few times, I looked around for a clock. I forgot my watch at home, and my mind never crosses to look at my phone first. But instead of finding a clock, my eyes found the mystery girl.

Part of me wanted to get up and go up to her. "Casually" bump into her, or something that wasn't creepy. And get her name, talk a bit. But, a huge part of me knew I shouldn't- couldn't leave this girl alone.

"Call her over." The voice said, getting my attention.

You're crazy, that would be...weird. She may think I was stalking her.

"Get her attention someway!" The voice yelled, ringing through my ears.

"Hey!" Blurted out my mouth, catching the eyes of some bystanders, including the person I was aiming for.

The little girl sitting next to me, that I was tutoring has jumped but I pat her back apologizing, calming her down. I continued to help her read as the mystery girl walked over. While the girl read to herself smiling, I turned my body into the mystery girl's direction.

"I haven't seen you here before." left my mouth before I could think, her lips curled up a bit.

"Just my second time coming here, nice to see you again." She replied while tapping her fingers gently on one of the books in her hands.

"I tutor children here pretty often." I explained as my eyes scanned the books in her hands, but I could only see some of the back.

"That's sweet of you." She said as she glanced briefly at the child, who was still reading. "So, is there a particular reason you called me over here?" she asked quirking an eyebrow with a smile, obviously amused.

I swallowed the lump that was suddenly forming in my throat, as I felt heat rise to my cheeks. "I never got your name." I replied flashing a smile, hoping it wasn't too shaky.

"Your number, should have said number." The voice said, making me grumble.

Her fingers suddenly tighten on the hold of the books, before tapping them. "Blossom." She answered tapping their shoes together, like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz.

I couldn't help it, The Powerpuff Girls were my first thought. But she looked nothing like that red-headed child. The flower was my next thought, but I smiled nonetheless.

"That's an interesting name. By uh interesting, I mean in a good way." I explained clearing my throat as she laughed softly, before smiling briefly. "I mean, it's beautiful."

"Thank you, what about you?" She asked with a pink complexion, while taking the empty seat at the table, as I checked on the girl to help if needed.

"What?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows, turning myself back in Blossom's direction.

"Your name." She replied rolling her eyes with a smirk, causing my cheeks to burn.

"Oh, Fuller. Fuller Cohen."

A/N: Sorry for the "different" formatting, I actually had it like this (hanging sentences, if you see it) on my google docs the whole time. But for some reason today when I copy and paste it here, it kept the format lol. Let me know which you like the best and I'll fix it, or fix the other chapters. And thank you all for reading! ^^
