Blossoms in Full Bloom Pt. 12

|Fuller|

"I wonder how those two could even be together in the first place, dad is such a wimp." Melanie grumbled as we watched our grandmother and grandfather drive off.

"I thought you were talking about grandparents for a second there." I sighed walking inside and she followed close behind. "You shouldn't talk about our parents like that though." I mumbled when we were now possibly in earshot, as she closed the door and locked it.

"You're right, mother has just broke our father into itty bitty pieces that he just follows into her every command."

Before I could react to what she had just said, someone cleared their throat behind us. We both whipped around to see our dad with steam practically fuming from his nose and ears. His face was as red as the tomato paste mom used in the meal.

"Oh, hey dad." Melanie said shooting him a quick smile like everything was all peachy and well.

"You shouldn't talk about me or your mother in front of us or behind our backs." Father ignored her smile, still steaming as he walked over to his chair to sit.

"But isn't it true? She has always been this way hasn't she?" Melanie grumbled, before going on to tell the story on how our parents met.

"Are you asking me out, to the prom?" Francis asked behind long eyelashes, piercing Louis with her dark brown eyes.

Louis gulped with a red face. "Ye-Yes ma'am." His blue eyes darken more as his face, almost in lust.

"Alright, pick me up at 8 on the dot. Don't be late or I'm telling everyone you peed your pants asking me out and I rejected you." She said taking a picture of him on her flip phone.

"That is not our love story!" Mother and Father cried out in union, except dad's whole face and even his ears were redder than before.

Guess mother joined the party. For once they actually seemed similar to each other. I started to take some quiet steps to get to the hallway to sneak out.

"Sit down, both of you. Now." Mother snapped her fingers and pointed to the couch.

With a huff, we both sat down and Mother took a seat on the couch across from us. Father sighed cleaning off his lenses of his glasses with his sweater. "We actually met later in my freshman year, and I met her through a friend somewhat." he grumbled before starting the story.

"Aww I'm sorry hun." Sherry said with a frown.

"Who's that?" Louis asked glancing at her as we walked down the sidewalk.

She covered her phone before giving me a look. "None of your business." she hissed but then he slightly heard the same question from the phone. "Oh um, just Louis- No! I do not! He's just someone I know from school."

Louis rolled his eyes at her before slipping her phone away. "Hello, this is Louis." His voice cracked.

"Hey!" Sherry glared trying to snatch it back but he ran away a bit, it was hard to keep it out of her reach with her being taller.

"Hey, I'm Francis." The girl laughed quietly on the other end. "What's happening over there?"

"He stole my phone!" Sherry hollered about launch forward to tackle him into the grass or street.

Louis ran ahead with Sherry on his tail. "I would never steal! She's lying." He breathed out while running.

"Um...okay then, well tell her to call me back when she can."

"Wait-" but she hung up before he could get out another word.

"Woah woah WOAH, hold up, who's Sherry?" Melanie bellowed, interrupting the story.

"Sherine." We all said in unison to Melanie who blinked before crossing her arms with a huff.

"But...Sherine wouldn't do that-"

"She's an adult now, of course she wouldn't. Now shut your pie hole and listen to the story." Dad grumbled causing Melanie and I to glance at each other in shock.

"Now to think of it, the Louis in this story doesn't sound like anything like our father either." Melanie stated earning a roll of the eyes from mother.

"That's because he's telling it wrong." Mom replied causing father to scoff.

"I am not, and you know so Francis." He retorted but Mother only turned her head away to look at us.

"I think Melanie did a better job than you did." Mother hummed while grabbing her purse.

"Told you so." Melanie said jabbing me in the arm.

"Her story was completely wrong." Father muttered with his face getting red again but soon paled a little as he frowned. "If my story is so wrong, why don't you tell it?"

"I have better things to do than to tell a story to the children, their almost adults by now. They can tell their own stories." Mother rolled her eyes earning a sigh from father.

"You weren't always this way."

"And you weren't always in the way, my way." Mother seethed snapping up from her chair, causing Melanie and I to jump a little but for once dad didn't jump.

"I don't understand why you have to be such a bitch." Father said staring at her and Mother stood there like a gaping fish as he stood up slowly.

He snatched up his journal that sat on the desk nearby before marching off to I suspected to be their room. We all watched after him and eventually the spot he disappeared to. Mother finally closed her mouth unlike Melanie and I, which we probably had our eyes bugging out. Mother glanced at us with her mouth in a thin line.

"Go to bed you two- Now." The last word that started as a scream, a command, cracked into a whimpering plead.

I shot up from my seat immediately. I was ready to go a while ago, but Melanie seemed to be glued to her seat. Somehow I pulled her up and was able to drag her to her room. For once, I really wish I had stepped in.
