A Lesson Learned

Author's Note: Thank you to annewheelerfab1 for letting me use Pumpkin again in this story. Anyway you should really check out her stories especially her Adventures of Pumpkin book it's really good and she has some stories that include Little Mal so if you wanted to see more of Little Mal you can check those out as well. Anyway I hope you enjoy this chapter and please let me know what you thought.

"I can not believe she did this! Mal has just spent over 400 dollars! Without asking me!" Evie screamed out as she was beyond mad. Which was making the others feel uncomfortable as they had seen Evie's angry side and it was never pretty.

"Okay calm down. I know it's bad but..." Tessa began but didn't get to finish as Evie just shook her head no not even wanting to hear it.

"I don't care! MAL BERTHA QUEEN! GET IN HERE RIGHT NOW!" Evie hollered out making the small girl get scared as she had never heard her mommy yell before and she quickly ran over to Evie with her new puppy friend following.

"What were you thinking!" Evie practically yelled out as soon as the small girl entered the room. Normally Evie managed to control herself but she had officially reached her limit at this point.

"I sowy mommy! I no mean to!" The small girl cried out as she backed away from Evie and hugged onto Lola who was the closest to where she was. Evie just quickly grabbed Mal from Lola as she turned her around towards her.

"Don't look at Lola, look at me! Mal answer me right now! Why did you spend over 400 dollars without asking me!" Evie yelled out, making Mal start crying as Evie was scaring her. "Evie, I think you need to stop. The kid didn't know. Look at her you're scaring her," Lola told Evie as she didn't like seeing Mal looking so scared and especially over her own mom.

Evie just stopped her screaming as she looked at the innocent little girl who was now shaking and crying. Evie just watched as the small girl hide herself away from her as a scary realization hit Evie. She had just reacted like how her mother used to when she had made a mistake.

And she made her own child cry and hide away in fear of her like she used to do with her mom. Evie felt completely sick to her stomach as she never wanted to be like her mom.

Evie had worked so hard to not be anything like that monster and yet despite all that she still managed to scare her own child for making a mistake.

"Oh my gosh Mal I am so sorry! I didn't mean to," Evie cried out as she tried to hug Mal as she had been so mad about what Mal did that she forgot how scary she was being to the young four year old.

"No!" Mal cried out as she ran over to Lola again and just buried her head in her shirt to hide herself away from Evie.

"Okay well I think I should probably go now. Bye Tessa it was nice getting to catch up. I'll call you later okay. Pumpkin come on let's go!" Georgie quickly called out to her dog as she could tell things were starting to get tense between the sisters and she didn't want to be involved.

Pumpkin just looked from Mal to Georgie as she hesitantly made her way to Georgie. Pumpkin wanted to help the small girl but she also could tell Georgie was uncomfortable and just wanted to leave right now.

Once Georgie left with her puppy things immediately broke lose as Evie was feeling like the worst mother ever for making her own child hide away from her.

And it didn't help that most of her sisters were now mad at her as well as they didn't like seeing Mal so scared. "Okay stop looking at me like that! I get it already! I'm the worst mother ever! Just stop looking at me like that! I can't take it!" Evie sobbed out as she took off running. She couldn't take the look her sisters were giving her.

"Evie come back!" April and Tessa cried out as they immediately ran after their sister leaving just Lola on the couch and the young purple haired girl who was still crying and clinging to her.

"Hey kid, it's okay. She didn't mean it. She was just upset," Lola told the young girl trying to calm Mal down but she just kept crying.

Mal wanted her mommy but she was still scared. She had never seen her mommy like that before and it was terrifying.

"I want mommy!" Mal cried out making Lola nod as she was about to get up and get Evie who was now sitting outside as she didn't feel like being inside right now as she was still feeling guilty and didn't want to see her baby scared of her.

"Okay I'll go get Evie," Lola told the small girl who clung back into her as she shook her head no. "No! I want mommy but I'm still scared. I didn't mean to be a bad girl. Alexa did it. I didn't know. I sowy. Mommy no wike me no more cause I was a bad girl," the preschooler cried out making Lola sigh as she was enjoying having all the love and attention but she knew it was wrong.

Mal was just upset right now but Evie hadn't meant to scare Mal like that. Evie just lost her temper. It happened to them all.

"Hey kid, that's not true. Your mommy loves you with all her heart. You know that. Mal sometimes parents get upset and they can't help themselves. They just lose their temper and they can come off as scary, but you know what," Lola told the 4 year old trying to calm her down and get her to not be scared of Evie anymore.

"What?" Mal asked a she wiped her tears and started to calm down. Lola just smiled as she wiped the rest of the tears away. "Evie loves you so much. You're her whole entire world and she wouldn't dare hurt her baby. I know Evie can be kinda scary when she's upset but she would never hurt you or even get close to it. And right now she probably feels horrible for scaring you," Lola told Mal who smiled as she finally felt better.

"You really think so?" Mal asked Lola who laughed as she helped her up. "Yeah I do! So you want to go see your mommy now?" Lola asked the small girl making Mal laugh as she nodded.

"Alright come on let's go see your mommy. Oh and Mal," Lola told the young girl, making her stop as she looked at her. "Yeah Auntie Lola?" Mal asked Lola, making Lola laugh as she picked Mal up and put her on her shoulders.

"That was awesome! But Mal next time try to keep it to under 100 dollars you're less likely to get caught," Lola told her niece making Mal giggle as she nodded.

"Otay I will!" Mal told Lola who smiled a little then went outside to find the spot where Evie was sitting with April, Tessa and now Ava who had just gotten home from school.

"Hey you okay?" Lola asked her sister, startling Evie as she hadn't been looking up to see that Lola had now joined with the others. "Lola! You can't just sneak up on me like that," Evie cried out, making Lola and the others laugh as they quickly got up leaving Lola and Mal as they saw Lola had Mal and they knew Evie needed to talk with Mal alone.

"Sorry but someone wanted to talk to you," Lola told Evie as she placed the small girl down then moved out of the way so Mal could run over to Evie.

"Mommy! I'm sorry for being a bad girl. I no do it no more. I love you mommy! You love me?" The young girl told Evie as she ran to her mommy and hugged onto her making Evie start crying as she just pulled the young girl closer to her.

"Aw of course I love you sweetie. I'm so sorry for getting so mad and scaring you. I was just upset because Mal I know you didn't mean to but 408 dollars is a lot of money. And mommy needs money to be able to get us food and to keep us living here. Now I know it was an accident but Mal I want you to know you can't do that anymore okay," Evie told the small girl in her gentle voice making Mal nod.

"Otay mommy I sowy. I no do it again," Mal told Evie, making Evie smile as she picked Mal up. "Okay good now let's go child proof Alexa. And Lola proof it too because I know you're listening right now. And this goes for you too," Evie told Mal and then Lola who was still standing and watching the two make up.

"What did I do?" Lola asked Evie making Evie roll her eyes. "Do we need to pull up the Amazon account again?" Evie asked Lola, whose eyes widened. "Nope lesson learned," Lola quickly told Evie as she went back inside.

"Mommy I have a question?" The young girl asked Evie once they had finished child restricting Mal's Alexa to not be able to buy anything from Amazon anymore.

"Sure cutie what's your question?" Evie asked Mal who just looked at the box that had just come in with all her stuff. "Can I keep my stuff or does it have to go bye bye," Mal asked Evie who just looked at the box.

"Okay so Mal here is what we're going to do. I'm going to keep the stuff but if you do a good thing like listen and clean your room and do well in your schoolwork then I'll give you one thing back until you get everything from this box back. That way you're actually earning the stuff you made me buy. Sounds like a deal?" Evie asked the small girl who nodded.

"Yeah but mommy can I have the night light now cause I only got it cause I get scared at night. Pwease mommy," The young girl told Evie who just found the Toothless Sleeptime light as she got it out.

"Okay fine this is the only thing you can have back until you earn the other stuff back. Deal?" Evie told the small girl who nodded as she looked at the new night light.

"Yay otay mommy deal! Oh and mommy I got Pumpkin and Dragon some stuff too. Do they have to earn their stuff too?" Mal asked Evie who just sighed as she turned on Mal's nightlight and tucked her into bed.

"We'll see okay. Now good night Mal I love you. And I hope you learned your lesson," Evie told her daughter as she kissed her on the forehead then got up.

"Night night mommy! Love you too and yes I did!" The young girl told Evie, making her smile as she got up and slowly closed the door then met back up with her sisters.

"Well today was definitely eventful," Evie told the others as she joined them on the couch after putting Mal to bed. "Yeah no kidding. I'm just glad it's finally done with and I don't think she's ever going to do that again," Tessa told the others who nodded.

"Yeah no kidding but Evie um are you okay. You seemed really freaked out today when Mal got really upset," April told Evie who just slowly nodded.

Evie was still freaking out about how she had reacted earlier as she still felt guilty even after they made up but Evie couldn't tell her sisters that. Then they would worry and Evie hated worrying her family.

"Yeah I was just a little taken back by how I reacted I guess. But yeah no i'm all good now. Anyways it's getting late now and I have to be up early because I just got a call and Ava we already have a fashion show out of town they want us at starting tomorrow," Evie told Ava who just looked at Evie in both shock and excitement.

"Wait, you're serious!" Ava asked excitedly, making Evie laugh as she hugged her. "Yeah I'm serious! They love our designs!" Evie squealed out, making Ava laugh.

"Oh my gosh that's amazing! Okay yeah I'm going to go pack right now and try to sleep. I'm so excited right now!" Ava squealed out as well making Evie and the others laugh as Ava ran off.

"Oh and um I hate doing this but I kinda need someone to babysit again," Evie told Lola, April, and Tessa who all looked at each other.

"I'll babysit again. I feel bad I was supposed to watch her earlier but I had work and stuff and got distracted. I'm off for the week though starting tomorrow so I can watch her," April told Evie who just smiled as she hugged April.

"Okay great thanks! I'm gonna get some sleep now, good night and again thank you so much!" Evie told April as she left for her room.

"You know I was going to offer to babysit," Lola told April who just rolled her eyes as she got up. "Lola you're the one person who should never be trusted to babysit. And I don't know why Evie keeps doing that," April told Lola, making Lola roll her eyes.

"Because unlike you I understand her and what she likes. But you said you can handle it so um good luck you're gonna need it," Lola told April as she got up and left as she was mad that April had basically taken her job. Lola was always the one to babysit except for days when she would be busy.

"Okay well um don't listen to Lola she's just upset because she likes babysitting. But don't worry if you do get overwhelmed Lola and I will be here to help. Just like we did today," Tessa told April who smiled as she nodded.

"Yeah that's good to know thanks Tess. Now I think I'm going to head up to bed now. If I'm going to be babysitting for a few days I'm definitely going to need my rest," April told Tessa, making her laugh as she nodded.

"Yeah of course night April," Tessa called out as she sat back on the couch and turned on the tv as she always had trouble sleeping. "Are you watching tv again?" Tessa heard making her look over and smile as she saw the young purple haired girl stand by the entrance way.

"Yeah I am do you want to watch it with me?" Tessa playfully asked the preschooler who laughed as she ran over and sat by Tessa on the couch.

"Auntie Tessa I got Pumpkin some stuff but mommy took my box away. Can you make sure she still gets them?" Mal told her auntie as she cuddled up on her and started to get sleepy.

"Yeah of course I can," Tessa told the small girl who smiled. "Otay good. Night night Auntie Tessa I love you," Mal told Tessa as she curled up on her and fell asleep.

"Hey sleepy head. It's time to get up," Mal heard when she woke up the next morning as she looked up to see Evie who was dressed and about to leave.

"Hi mommy where we going?" Mal asked, making Evie sigh as she hated this part. "We're not going anywhere. Ava and I have to go for a fashion show, but you're going to stay here with your  Aunties April, Lola, and Tessa for a few days," Evie told the four year old who shook her head no as she hugged onto her.

"Nooo! Mommy no go! Mommy no go!" The young girl cried out making Evie sigh again as she hated making her baby cry but this was an important life changing opportunity and Evie couldn't pass that up.

"Aw Mal I know but it's okay. You're going to stay with your aunties this time. It's not going to be like last time I promise. I love you sweetie I'll see you in a few days okay," Evie told Mal who just kept crying as she refused to let go.

"Okay Mal I'll tell you what if you promise to behave I'll give you back another toy from the box," Evie told Mal who calmed down as she nodded.

"Okay good! Here you go. Now you have to promise to be a good girl and to listen to your aunties," Evie told the young girl who smiled as she looked at her new toy.

"Otay mommy I pomise and I love you too. Bye bye mommy and bye bye Auntie Ava," Mal told Evie, making her smile as she hugged Mal again one more time and then left with Ava.

Once Evie left with Ava, Mal got up as she ran to April's room and jumped up on her bed. "Hi Auntie April mommy says you're in charge for the next few days! So what's for breakfast cause I'm hungry!" Mal cried out as she jumped up on April making April groan as she was already regretting this decision.
