49. Weekend Pleasures and Chatty Nights
CHAPTER 49
Weekend Pleasures and Chatty Nights
"You're going home already?" I asked him as he got up from the bed and put his pants on.
"Yes, I have to study," Cole answered. "I can't believe that I spent the entire weekend having sex. What have you done to me?"
"Boys can't get enough of me. It's very normal, Cole." I chuckled, "On the bright side, you don't stutter anymore."
"I-I j-just-"
"No, it's back," I cried, and he rolled his eyes.
"Wait!" I shouted as he opened the door, "It's still the weekend. Tomorrow is Monday, and you could go back to studying. Just enjoy this night."
"I have homework," he said.
"Copy it from me. I'm done."
"What? When did you do it? You were having sex all the time," he said, and I gave him a pointed look.
"Cole, stop exaggerating. We did not have that much sex. You had to see the way Blake and I used to be during the weekends," I said.
"Can we not talk about him?" he asked, and I gave him an eye-roll.
"Okay, fine. We won't. But can we have fun tonight?"
"Why don't you go down to the club? I'm sure that there are a lot of guys willing to have fun with you," he said.
"But I like you better than them," I whined, and he let out a sigh.
"Do you know why you like me better than the other guys?" he asked.
"Because you're hot," I replied.
"No, because you actually talk to me. Try getting to know a guy before sleeping with him, and maybe you might like him too." Cole said.
"Talking is a waste of time. Imagine all the good sex you could have in that time," I said.
"Why don't you give it a try for one night? Go out, find a guy and talk to him, but don't have sex with him tonight. If you regret wasting your time talking, don't do it again. If you liked it, you might actually get a boyfriend." He said and I gave it a thought.
"Okay, fine. I'll do that, but on one condition." I said.
"What is it?"
"You have to come with me," I said.
"But homew-"
"Copy it from me," I said again.
"Addy, you won't get a guy if I'm with you. People would think that you're taken." He said.
"You're not going to be with me, Cole. If I'm going to talk to a guy without having sex, you're going to talk to a girl without stuttering."
"B-Bu-"
"You're already stuttering." I glared at him.
"Cole, I'm not the only one who needs to move on. You need to too. Talk to a girl without being too scared and maybe, you might find someone perfect for you." I said suggestively.
"Fine, I'll go with you," he said, and I grinned.
"But first, give me your homework," he demanded, stretching his arm towards me, and I rolled my eyes before taking my book from my and handing it to him.
"Okay, get changed. I'll quickly copy this down" he said, and I placed a kiss on his lips before walking into my closet.
After I got ready, we drove to Jack's club. As soon as we reached there, Cole started panicking as if he was going to jump off a cliff.
"Calm down, Cole. You're just going to be talking to a girl," I said.
"No, talking to a girl is easy. But you want me to flirt with a girl," he said.
"Talking, flirting; it's all the same thing."
"To you, maybe. But to me they're completely different," he said.
"Then forget the fact that you're flirting and simply talk to her like you talk to me." I said.
"How do I find a girl?" He asked.
"Go dance. You'll find someone," I said.
"I can't dance." His eyes widened in fear, making me do a mental facepalm.
"You don't have to put on some expert moves. Just go and shake your body a little," I suggested, and he nodded hesitantly.
"Okay, I'll do that. And you; if a guy talks to you, don't flirt. Talk to him, and listen when he talks," he said, and I rolled my eyes.
"After taking tips from you, there's no way that I'm getting laid tonight." I groaned.
"That's the point, Addy. You shouldn't have sex with a guy tonight," he said.
"Okay, fine. Now go!" I said, shooing him to the dance floor.
I made my way to the bar before ordering a drink and settling down on one of the stools. A minute later, I had my drink in my hand, and I decided to wait till a guy approached me first.
I got a few perverted glances from a few guys which I chose to ignore and continued to sip on my drink.
"What is an underaged girl doing at a club like this?" I heard a husky voice ask, and I turned to my side to see a tall, handsome man in a dark blue suit.
"I'm not underaged," I lied, eyeing him up and down. His suit looked kind of messy with the first two buttons of his shirt left open, and he had heavy bags under his eyes, giving his pale face a tired look. But I must admit, underneath all that, he looked pretty hot.
He smirked at my gaze as he leaned against the bar, drumming his fingers on the counter.
"Well," he said, dragging his gaze over my body, "You look fifteen."
"What the fuck?! I'm eighteen!" I claimed and he smirked.
"Wait... you tricked me." I narrowed my eyes at him, and he let out a chuckle.
"Don't blame me. Your ego is the one who tricked you," he said, making me roll my eyes.
"I'm Derek, by the way," he introduced, extending his hand towards me.
"Addelyn," I said, shaking his hand.
"So, a young girl drinking alone at a club," he said. "What put you in a sad scene?"
"Love." I sighed, sloshing the drink my glass.
"I have time to hear about it." He took the stool next to mine.
"Really? You want to hear a failed high school love story?" I asked.
"I don't mind it. We've all had those," he said, gesturing the bartender for a drink.
"Then I want to hear yours first," I said.
"A girl willing to listen; now that's attractive." He smiled, and I was impressed that stutterman Cole actually gave a good advice.
"Okay, this is going to get depressing," he warned and I chuckled.
"I can handle it. Go on," I said.
"I was, and still is, in love with this girl," he said, "Her and I were the most inseparable couple all throughout middle school and high school. We had never been with anyone but each other."
"That sounds nice." I smiled, wondering how different things would've been if Blake and I stuck to monogamy from the beginning.
"Well, college came, and we decided that maybe we should take a break and see if there were better people for us, or if we really were perfect for each other."
"So, she found someone else?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No, she didn't, and neither did I." He smiled. "After college, we both wanted each other more than ever, so we decided to get married one week after graduation."
The bartender arrived with Derek's drink and he gave him a polite smile before sipping on it.
"We had bad timing though. On the last day of college, there was a party. I got drunk and slept with a girl there, and it was only after my honeymoon that I found out that she got pregnant with my child."
"Oh, this just got more depressing than my story," I said, and he let out a chuckle, shaking his legs in a fast rhythmic motion.
"And it gets worse from there," he said, making me raise an eyebrow. "My wife and I tried to make our relationship work with me having another child. But after a while, she got lonely and told me that she wanted a child of her own. But I had to say no because I wasn't ready for another child. After that, we kept having fights regularly, and finally, she moved out."
"So, that was the end?" I asked.
"I guess so," he said. "After a few months, I realized that I couldn't live without her, so I went to see her, and asked her to come back. But by then, she was having a child with another man. A year later, my son and his mother left for London when she got a job there. I haven't seen them since." He finished.
"I'm sorry that happened to you," I said, placing a hand on his, feeling his hands shake vigorously.
"Are you feeling alright?" I asked, frowning at his dead cold hands, "You're shivering."
"Yeah, I'm fine. There are these meds that I need to take, but I didn't because I had a meeting today and those meds make me sleepy," he explained, and I nodded.
He gulped down his drink in a single sip, making me raise my eyebrow.
"Slow down," I said, and he let out a laugh.
"I can handle worse." He winked, and I gave an eye roll to his cockiness.
"So, how do you cope up with all this?" I asked, sipping on my drink.
"I have my ways," he said casually before ordering another drink.
"What ways?" I asked, leaning in closer to him.
"No, you're not going to get that out of me easily." He smirked.
"How can I get it out of you then?" I asked, and a devious smile appeared on his face.
"Go on a date with me," he said, picking up his drink as the bartender approached us with it.
"Wow, so this did work," I said, and he gave me a confused look.
"What worked?" he asked.
"Well, I sort of took guy advices from the most inexperienced friend I have." I chuckled. "Surprisingly, it worked."
I turned my gaze to the dancefloor to see Cole wiggling his body in front of a girl. I laughed at his attempt at dancing before turning back to Derek.
"The answer to your question: yes, I'll go on a date with you," I said and he smiled.
After that, we spend sometime drinking until I felt a tap on my shoulder, and I turned around to see Cole standing behind me with a panicked look on his face.
"Addy, we need to leave," he said, looking behind him nervously.
"What's the wrong?" I asked.
"You know that girl I was dancing with?"
"Wiggling with," I corrected and he narrowed his eyes at me.
"The girl I was dancing with, well, she has a boyfriend. A really huge boyfriend," he said, his eyes wide with fear.
I heard Derek let out a chuckle, and I sighed, turning to him.
"I guess I have to go now," I said, disheartened.
"Give me your number," he said and I grinned as he lent me his phone. I saved my number in and gave him a short kiss on the cheek before saying goodbye.
Cole drove me home, and one the way, I told him everything I learnt about Derek.
"Are you sure you want to get involved with this guy?" Cole asked.
"Yes, why not?"
"Keeping the timeline of all the things he said, he should at least be twenty-six," Cole said.
"I don't mind." I shrugged.
"Addy, you're going from having to deal with one Terra to two women and a child," he pointed out.
"They're not in his life anymore," I said.
"The woman he loved might not be. But his child and its mother will always be in his life. Are you sure you want all that in your life?" Cole asked.
"Cole, I'm not planning my entire life with him. It's just one date. And if things don't work out, I'll just leave. It's not that hard." I shrugged.
"Leaving isn't easy. You know that from experience," he said.
"It was different with Blake. I'm not falling in love again," I said.
"What if you do?" Cole asked.
"I won't," I said. "Besides, I just want to have sex with Derek. Nothing more."
"There you go back to just sex." Cole rolled his eyes.
"Don't be jealous, Cole. You're still my favorite." I grinned, leaning forward to place a kiss on his cheek as he drove into my house.
"Are you coming in?" I asked as he stopped the car.
"No, we have school tomorrow and we better get some sleep," he said.
"You're coming in," I said with a finality as I unbuckled my seat belt. I moved closer to him before softly biting his neck, making him let out a whimper.
"Addy, we shouldn–" his words were cut off by his own moan as I sucked on his skin, creeping my hand up his leg to his bulge.
"Okay, fine. Just one single night," he said, making me grin before getting out of the car.
He switched off the vehicle, getting out of it as I walked towards my door. He reached me and I crashed my lips against his, unlocking the door in the process before pushing him in.
I heard a cough interrupting us and I pulled away from Cole before turning to the source of the sound to see Blake standing in my living room with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
"Your maid let me in," he said, clenching his jaw and looking away from us.
"I'll just leave then," Cole said awkwardly, and I waved to him as he left the house, closing the door behind him.
"I know you told me that we shouldn't spend a lot of time alone, but I was hoping that you would let me stay here," Blake said, following behind me as I climbed up the stairs.
"You can. What's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing much. My parents are just in a mood again," he replied.
I nodded as I entered my room and frowned when he followed me in.
"Your old guest room is still available," I informed.
"I like this room better," he said, taking off his shirt, and I rolled my eyes.
"I'll go freshen up." I sighed.
I took a short shower and changed into my nightdress before walking out to see Blake fast asleep on my bed. I smiled, climbing in with him and snuggled closer to him, looking at his face. I caressed his cheek and softly kissed the tip of his nose before I heard a ping from my phone.
I picked it up from my night stand, switching it on to see the message.
Can't wait to see you on our date, it's said, and I smiled though something felt wrong to me.
Nowadays, everything that I did felt wrong. Cole, Derek and all the nameless guys I've slept with; they all felt wrong, and the only thing that felt right was the one sleeping beside me. But in reality, he was the one I should keep away from because it wasn't right to go after someone else's boyfriend.
"I love you, Blake," I whispered, resting my head against his chest, "I will always love you."
Author's note
Blynne shippers with hope, sorry, but he was not awake 👀
And the rest of you who was waiting for Mr. Perfect to come and swoop Addy off her feet, Derek isn't it and there never will be a Mr. Perfect because I don't believe in perfect characters. So, you can love him despite his flaws or hate him, but I won't make it him perfect.
Also, Fun Fact: If I had time [which I don't], I would've written a sequel to TQW of Asher's story, and the plot that I had planned for him is Derek's background story. Since I'm not planning to write the book, I though why let the plot go to a waste.
Of course, it's supposed to be a little different since Asher does not have anybody he's been dating since childhood, and the girl he got pregnant wasn't a random girl, but his ex 👀And he does not necessarily have to split with his gf before college and get back together with her or anything. It all goes a little different.
But the pregnancy, marriage, wife getting pregnant with someone else... yes, it has all that 👀With a happy ending instead of Derek's depressing life though... [Spoiler for a book that I'll never write: he is supposed to end up with his wife]
The ending of TQW will leave an opening for that storyline [he'll have one ex and one girlfriend] but that won't lead to anything since I'm never going to write it.
