46. Fishing Lakes and Sleeping Arrangements

*Edited*

CHAPTER 46
Fishing Lakes and Sleeping Arrangements

I felt someone stamp on my leg, and I opened my eyes to see Cole pacing around the tiny space of the tent, shirtless in a pair of sweatpants.

"Excuse me, my leg!" I exclaimed as I saw him walking around as if he didn't just stamp on me.

"S-Sorry," he mumbled.

"What is up with you?" I asked, and he abruptly stopped, turning to me.

"I-I had sex," he said before pacing around again.

"It's just sex; not murder," I said, rolling my eyes.

He walked towards the corner of the tent before picking up a pink silk dress that looked an awful lot like my nightdress from last night.

"Uhh... I f-found it outside the t-tent." He held it up to me.

"What the fuck? How? I left it by the lake."

"I d-don't know," he said.

"How long will this stutter last?" I asked, giving him an annoyed look.

"I-I d-d-don-"

"It just got worse." I groaned as I pulled the covers off me.

Cole's eyes widened and he quickly shut his eyes before turning around. I looked down at my naked body before throwing my hands up exasperatedly.

"Really, Cole? Last night you had your hands and mouth all over my body, and now you can't even look at me." I scoffed.

I got up from Cole's mat and walked up to him before tapping on his shoulder.

"Cole, turn around," I said softly, and he turned to me with his eyes closed.

I laughed before standing on my toes and softly kissing his lips. I pulled away from him to see his eyes slowly open and a smile appeared on my lips as I took my dress from his hands.

His eyes wandered down my body and I smirked seeing the lust forming on his face before turning around, looking at my dress.

"This has mud all over it." I grimaced, "I can't wear this. Do you have anything I could use?"

"C-Check my b-bag." He pointed at a duffle bag in the corner.

I walked towards it and looked through the shirts in it before picking one up with a smirk on my face.

"I want this one." I said, holding an old jersey with 'Hamilton' written in bold across the back.

"Not that! It has my name written on it!" he exclaimed.

"I know," I said, pulling it over my head, "Anyways I'll have to do the walk of shame. I'd rather have people knowing that it's you than some random low-life."

"B-But no one's even aw-wake. It's f-five in the morning." He said and I groaned.

"Well, in that case, I'm going to go sleep on my mattress. I can't believe that I carried a freaking mattress here and I had to sleep on a mat. Not even a sleeping bag; a freaking mat!"

"Mats are less restraining than sleeping bags." Cole defended.

"You know what's better? A mattress."

I placed a kiss on his lips and gave him a wink before walking out of the tent. As expected, the very few people who were awake now had their judging eyes glued on me.

I found Blake's tent left open when I reached it where Luke slept peacefully on my dear sweet mattress. Blake sat on his sleeping bag with his legs crossed and his elbows propped up on his lap as his head rested on his palms.

"Blake," I called softly, and he looked up at me tiredly.

"Why are you awake now?" I asked.

"I didn't get any sleep," he said blankly before looking away from me.

"You didn't sleep last night?" I asked.

"No, I was busy searching for my best friend who left the tent in the middle of the night and never came back."

"I was—"

"With Cole, I know. I guessed it when found Luke here."

I lowered my head and walked to my mattress, sitting on the edge.

"I'm sure everyone awake now figured it out too with you parading with his name on your back."

"You don't have to be so mean." I pouted.

"Oh, I'm mean? I spent the entire night worrying about you while you were fucking Hamilton and now, I'm mean?"

"Shut up," Luke grumbled in his sleep, snuggling into my pillow.

"Luke! Get out!" I shouted, rocking him. He fluttered his eyes open with a frown.

"Go to your tent or—"

"You'll have sex in front of me." He mumbled sleepily before grabbing his things from the floor and tiredly walking out.

"I was going to say that I'll pull off his blanket." I shrugged once he was out.

Blake clenched his jaw and look away from me, making me feel a pang in my chest.

"Blake, are you mad at me?" I asked, getting off my mattress and crawling towards him.

"Do you know how worried I was? I found your clothes lying next to the lake, and I thought..." he trailed off, his hands trembling slightly.

I cupped his hands in mine. "I'm sorry. I should've told you."

He stared at me for a while and his eyes softened before he leaned in closer to me and pulled me into a tight hug. He placed a few kisses on the side of my face and rested his head on my shoulder, making me smile as I wrapped my arms around him, enjoying the way his warm body felt against mine.

"I don't know what I'll do if something happens to you," he whispered, caressing my hair.

"I'm fine, Blake."

"I didn't know that last night." He sighed before burying his face in my hair.

I pulled away from him and grabbed his face in my hands.

"You need to sleep," I said, placing a soft kiss on his nose. "I'm going to sleep too. I barely got any sleep last night."

A scowl formed on his face, making me roll my eyes. "I didn't mean because of Cole. I meant, I missed my bed."

"Change your outfit. I'll wait outside," he said. He got out of the tent, and I zipped it up before quickly changing into fresh clothes that appropriately covered my body to prevent Blake from getting horny like last night. I unzipped the tent and Blake entered before closing it as I climbed on my mattress.

He got inside his sleeping bag and zipped it up before closing his eyes. As I watched him, I felt bad seeing him cramped inside that little thing when I had a whole big mattress with me.

"Blake," I called and he hummed with his eyes still closed, "Sleep with me."

"I'm good here," he mumbled.

I rolled my eyes and got up from my mattress before kneeling down next to him, making his eyes open.

"I'm not going to sleep till you come with me," I said. He sighed, but a faint smile took over his lips before he unzipped his sleeping bag.

I grinned and climbed back on my mattress just as he got in along with me. I pulled the covers over us and snuggled closer to him.

It's funny how I try so hard to get over him, and all it takes is a single touch to get me falling in love all over again.

I didn't know how long I slept before being woken up by everyday high school ruckus. Opening my eyes, I found Blake sleeping next to me. He had his head resting on my shoulder and his arms wrapped around my waist, making a warm smile appear on my lips.

I pushed his hair back and closed my eyes, placing a lingering kiss on his forehead. I pulled back and saw his eyes open as he looked at me with a smile.

I got up and opened the tent, stretching as I stepped out. Asher spotted me from a distance and came rushing.

"What did you two do for this long?" he asked, eyeing the us.

"We were sleeping," I answered.

"For this long?" he asked and I raised an eyebrow.

"It's four in the evening," he informed and my eyes bulged out of its sockets.

"Really?" Blake asked.

"Yes, hurry up! We're going fishing."

"Fishing?" I asked with utter horror on my face.

"Oh, come on, Addy! It would be fun! We get to catch fishes then eat them ourselves!"

"Is this mandatory?" I asked, and he nodded, making me sigh.

"I'm going to take rest for 5 more minutes," Blake said lazily before falling back onto the mattress. I chuckled and leaned down to kiss his cheek, making him smile before I followed Asher out of the tent.

I spotted a crowd at a distance and walked to it. On seeing Cole, I hopped over to him and sat on a log beside him.

"You slept for long," he commented.

"Yes, Cole. I guess you really wore me out last night." I smirked and a bright blush filled up his cheek.

"Uh... I-I... w-"

"Cole, you better get over this stutter of yours because we're going to be doing this a lot more times." I whispered in a sultry voice, moving closer to him.

A smirk appeared on my lips, seeing him sit still before I softly pressed my lips against his. He froze for a second before responding back, making a satisfied smile appear on my lips.

I put my hand behind his neck and pulled him closer to me as I slipped my tongue in his mouth. It just started getting deeper when we heard sound of metals clinging.

I turned my attention to the sound and saw Terra staring at us with shock as a bag carrying a few fishing rods lied on the ground in front of her feet.

"Don't break what you can't afford, Terra!" I shouted to her, seeing a rod's parts come loose, earning a few snickers from the students present there.

"Addy, don't be like that," Cole warned, but I ignored.

As if she broke from a reverie, Terra turned her attention to the bag lying on the floor before bending down to pick the rods up.

Cole stood up from his seat and walked towards her before helping her out. He picked up the rods and placed it inside the bag that she held in her hands. She closed the bag, barely making eyes contact with him and mumbled a thank you before walking away. His face fell and he slowly walked back to me in disappointment.

"Are you alright?" I asked and he nodded but I knew he wasn't. I chose to not say anything until he spoke again.

"We're going to go fishing, and we need to be in pairs. Umm... do you... w-want to... uhh..."

"Let's go get our fish rod." I smirked, getting up and lending him a hand. He smiled before taking my hand and we walked towards a teacher handing them out.

After getting the rod, we walked towards our friends standing at a distance. As soon as I reached, Hazel gave me a grin, pulling me away from the boys as Kate followed us.

"You really slept with Cole last night?" Hazel asked.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"Everyone knows," Kate replied.

"Really, Terra didn't seem to," I said.

"Everyone who is anyone knows." Kate corrected and I chuckled.

"I have more important things to ask," Hazel said, "How was it?"

"It was okay." I shrugged.

"Who is better? Blake or Cole?" Hazel asked.

"Wha—"

"No, who is bigger? Blake or Cole?" She changed her question.

"Umm... Hazel," Kate called, tapping on her shoulder and horror filled inside me before I turned around to follow Kate's gaze.

I cringed seeing Blake and Cole stand there with Asher, Jack and Luke behind them. They both looked at each other with a grimace as Asher smirked, walking over to Hazel and wrapping an arm around her.

"We wanted to what you were talking about," Asher said.

"I wish I didn't know." Blake grumbled.

"I want to know the answer." Jack grinned, earning a smack on the head from Cole.

I ignored him as my eyes caught a figure walking towards and I groaned when I realized that it was Terra. She walked over to Blake, holding a fishing rod, making him smile at her.

"Where is the lake?" I asked, diverting the attention from her.

"It's the same lake we were at last night," Cole replied, and a disgusted frown appeared on my face.

"Oh my god! We had an orgy with fishes!" I freaked, making everyone give me weird glances.

"What?" Cole asked with a grimace.

"Addy, no. Just no," Asher said before turning to Cole, "Don't mind her. She overreacts when it comes to anything animals."

I pouted at him and Blake chuckled before hugging me from the back.

"I think it's cute," he said, and I smiled.

Terra's face fell on seeing us, and everyone but Blake noticed the change in her mood. She quietly walked away without any words, making Blake alarmingly remove his hands from around me.

"You messed up," Jack said, shaking his head.

"What did I do?" he asked, glancing at us and Jack gave out a sigh.

"Rule number one of having a girlfriend: don't flirt with other girls in front of your girlfriend," Jack said.

"In front of you girlfriend?" Kate raised her eyebrows, making Jack's eyes widen.

"Rule number one of having a girlfriend: don't flirt with other girls." He changed, making Kate roll her eyes before she pulled him towards the lake.

"I guess that I'll have to go apologize," Blake said sadly before walking away.

"Do you feel like strangling him to death sometime?" Cole asked me, narrowing his eyes at Blake as he walked towards Terra.

"Nope, I feel like strangling Terra," I said, standing on my toes and pecking his lips.

"Are we going to keep kissing all the time?" he asked, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Yes, why not?" I shrugged.

"There are people watching," he said, looking around. "Do people always whisper so much? Isn't this weird?"

"I'm used to it," I said. "I grew up listening to my maids gossip about how my parents didn't want me. Little high school rumors are nothing compared to that."

"Tha—"

"You don't have to say anything." I interrupted, not wanting any conversation about my parents, "Let's go catch those disgusting fishes."

"You'll have to clean them before cooking it," he informed.

"Asher will do it for me. He's my personal assistant for the trip." I shrugged, making him chuckle.

After a boring eternity of sitting in front of the lake waiting for fishes to catch onto the hook, the night came by and we all had a fish for dinner. After eating, Cole and I walked to the bonfire where most of the students had gathered.

My eyes met with Blake and Terra wrapped in a single blanket as her head rested on his shoulder. Blake said something making her giggle before he placed a kiss on her forehead, making my heart clench.

I wanted to be the one with him in that blanket. I wanted him to hold me and kiss me like he used to. I wanted him so desperately. Why couldn't I stop wanting about him?

Terra's gaze fell upon Cole and me, making her smile drop. She gave Cole an awkward smile before her gaze moved down.

"She has barely even looked at me since she saw us kiss." Cole sighed sadly.

"Talk to her," I suggested. "Why don't you spend some time with her?"

"You think Blake would like that?" he asked.

"Does it matter?" I asked and he shook his head before we both walked towards Blake and Terra.

"T-Terra," Cole called and I rolled my eyes at the stutter as Terra and Blake looked up at us. "Uhh, I-I w-was—"

"Do you want to take a walk with him?" I asked Terra, interrupting Cole.

"O-Oka-" Terra started before I interrupted her.

"I swear to god, someone's getting a broken limb if I hear more stutter tonight."

Cole lent a hand to Terra which she took. They walked away as I sat next to Blake. I watched their retrieving figure as he wrapped an arm around her and placed a kiss on her head.

"So... you and Cole?" Blake started and I internally groaned at the thought of having this conversation. "Do you like him?"

"Blake, we spent one night together."

"And you were with him the whole evening," hee said.

"Why not? We're friends." I shrugged.

"It didn't look like friends," he said.

"Blake, we're friends who had sex last night. It's that simple. You of all people should understand this," I said.

"So, it's like how we used to be," Blake said in a low voice.

"Exactly! I'm glad you got it."

He looked away from me and moved his gaze to the floor with a dejected face.

"What's wrong?" I asked softly, making him look at me again.

"You're going to have everything we had with him. You're going to grow closer to him. You're going to spend every day with him, and he's going to have you as much as I did or maybe even more. But with me, you barely talk to me nowadays. So, after a few years, or maybe just months, where would I stand in your life?" he asked. "I don't want us to grow apart, Lynne."

"Blake, I can't say what would happen in the future, but nothing's going to stay the same. We're going to get caught up in our own lives, and maybe we won't be in each other's lives," I whispered, feeling my heart clench at the thought of ever living without him.

"But I don't want that to happen," he said, looking into my eyes.

"You'll have Terra," I reminded. "You wouldn't need me."

"I said this before, and I'll always says this—Terra isn't replacing you," he said. "I've only been dating her for a few days now, and I don't what will happen, but whether she's there or not, I don't want to be away from you. I'll need you," he whispered, placing his forehead on mine. "Would always you need me?"

"Cole can never replace you, Blake," I assured "Whether I'm near you or not, nothing can change the way I feel about you. You'll always be the silly boy who befriended someone like me on the first day of my school."

"Someone like you?" he asked.

"Let's not deny that I'm not the most liked person around here. But you liked me." I smiled.

I was lucky after-all. Even if he didn't date me or love me the way I did, I couldn't have been luckier than to have him in my life, to have him so close to me even if it was just as friends.

"It's barely been seven hours since we woke up and I'm already so tired," I said, looking at my watch.

"Too much sleep does that to you," he said. I placed my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes.

"I missed spending time with you. Your rule of only hanging out around other people sucks," he said, wrapping the one end of the blanket around me.

Wrapped in a blanket with him, I smiled to myself.  I didn't have to be his girlfriend to have everything. I just needed him even if I was greedy for more of him.

I just need him, I thought, feeling myself drift to sleep. After a while I felt my body being lifted by a strong arm. I snuggled into his chest as he started walking with me. Soon, I felt my body lower onto my mattress before the covers were pulled over me.

I dozed off to sleep but woke up after a while when I heard two voices from outside.

"She's my best friend." I heard Blake say.

"But I am your girlfriend. How do you think I would feel when you're always flirting with her or blowing me off for her?" The other voice fought.

"I'm not blowing you off," he said.

"You told me that we would spend the night together, but now she's sleeping your tent," Terra complained.

"She fell asleep and her mattress was in my tent, so I brought her here," he reasoned.

"Blake, I don't have anywhere to sleep. Asher's already asleep in my tent." Terra said, "You were the one who suggested this, and now I'm left without a place to sleep because of you."

"Terra, I'm so sorry." He said, "We'll figure something out, okay?"

He walked back into tent and I sat up straight on my mattress.

"You're awake?" he asked.

"I'll leave." I offered.

"You don't have to. I'll think of something." He rolled up his sleeping bag and picked it up.

"Good night," he whispered, leaning down to kiss my forehead.

I sadly watched as he walked out of the tent before falling back onto my mattress. After a few minutes I saw a figure enter the tent and zip it up.

"Cole?" I called and he turned to me, "What are you doing here?"

"We made some switches which put me in here. Blake and Terra are in my tent," He said, clenching his jaw. "Could you believe that asshole? He made me move out of my tent so that he could spend the night there with the girl that I love."

"Don't blame him. Blame Terra. She's the one who pulled him out of his tent. She could've just come and slept with you instead, but no. She just needs to have Blake," I said, feeling my blood boil.

"But Blak—"

"Let's stop. This could go on forever," I said, and he sighed, spreading his mat on the floor.

"No need of the mat. Come sleep with me," I said.

"O-On t-the bed w-with you?"

"Yes, Cole," I laughed, and he hesitantly walked over to me. I moved aside, giving him space on my bed as he slowly lied down.

"So, where's Luke?" I asked.

"With Hazel," he replied, "Luke's the one who came up with the whole switch just so that he could be with Hazel. Blake and Terra weren't that happy with the arrangements."

"Asher is probably going to kill all of us in the morning," I said, and he laughed.

I placed my hand around his waist, resting my head close to his shoulder.

My heart felt weird. If it had a face, it would look like Blake's grandmother that one time she caught us making out—shaking her head and looking grimacingly over her glasses.

I hated my heart sometimes. Here my body was with a single guy, but it still wanted someone else's man.

Author's Note

That had all four ships, but mostly Blynne and Caddy because it's from Addy's POV.

Welp, Caddy had a lot of supporters in the last chapter, but some of you were a little (or very) upset about it. And then there were a few who shipped both... hehe. So, who do you ship?

So, if you liked what you read, vote.

If you want to keep reading, add this to your library so you'll know when I update.

And if you made it till the end, thank you for reading and I love you so much!
