13. Delicate Statues and Fated Heart-to-Heart

CHAPTER 13
Delicate Statues and Fated Heart-to-Heart

Blake's POV

"Bye Blake"

She ripped her hands away from my grip with a smirk before turning away and leaving with Cole.

I felt an arm slump over my shoulder and I didn't need to turn my head to know that it was Asher.

"She just walked away." I whispered as I kept my eyes trained on Lynne and Cole.

"Yeah, I saw that. It was pretty hilarious." Asher commented with a smirk, making me narrow my eyes at him.

"Who needs girls anyways?" He asked and turned to look at me, "I'll be your date."

"I'll call you if I ever get that desperate." I said and walked over to the table of drinks as he followed behind me.

He huffed, "I'll have you begging for me in no time."

I laughed as I took a glass of champagne from the table, "Was sex with Hazel so bad that you turned gay?"

"What sex? Every time we get somewhere close to doing something, she starts asking about all the girls I've been with and tells me to go take an STD checkup."

I laughed and shook my head.

"Do you think she's having sex with Luke?" he asked.

"Why would I know about Hazel's sex life? Ask Lynne." I suggested

"She won't tell me." He groaned, "This is driving me crazy. She's been texting Luke for the past one hour."

"Why are you even in an open relationship?" I asked.

"Because we're going off to college next year. A real relationship comes with too much attachment. Whereas an open relationship is simpler to leave."

"You could've just avoided getting into a relationship."

"But I like her and I want to be with her, but I don't want to get too attached. So, this is my perfect solution. And maybe we could have successful long distance open relationship later." He explained, "I know, I'm smart."

"Nope, I still think that you and your solution's dumb."

He rolled his eyes, "Oh, look who's talking, Mr. Friend-with-benefits."

"Lynne and I are nothing like you and Hazel."

"I don't see the difference." He shrugged.

"You two have feelings involved. Lynne and I have a no feelings relationship."

"Sure. I definitely didn't see any feelings when she walked off with Cole." He scoffed sarcastically.

"You're very annoying." I said narrowing my eyes at him.

"But you still love me." He grinned.

"I'm going to go find Terra." I said.

He pouted, "You're ditching me too."

I rolled my eyes, "Go find Hazel and ask her to dance with you. Sitting here with me and whining isn't going to get you anywhere."

"Fine." He huffed.

I walked towards the direction Cole came through before and finally found Terra sitting alone in one of the tables.

"Hey" I said as I sat down next to her.

Instead of responding to me, she looked away.

"Terra, why are you avoiding me?" I asked but she didn't answer, "If this is about my mom, I'm sorry for her behavior. But I want you to know that I don't care what she thinks. You're my date tonight and I'm not going to forget about you just because she told me to."

Terra turned to face me. "Thank you" She said, "for being so nice to me."

I smiled at her and she returned the gesture. We remained in the same position as we silently gazed into each other's eyes until we were startled by the sound of something breaking.

I turned towards the source of the sound and saw a statue broken on the floor with a little boy staring at it. His mother grabbed his hands and scolded him before dragging him away from there.

"Oh my god!" I heard Terra gasp, "Isn't that statue worth thirty-five thousand dollars?"

I raised my eyebrows at her, "Thirty-five thousand dollars? For that crap?"

"Yeah. It's sculpted by someone famous. Umm...." She scratched her head as she thought, "Claud Renoir, I think."

"Terra, I know an expensive thing when I see it. That statue is not worth that much. And if it was, it wouldn't be placed out in the open for five-year olds to touch." I told her, making her frown at me.

Terra's face showed confusion for a second before it turned into a look of realization.

"She can lie more fluently than I could sing ABC." She muttered under her breath.

"Who can?" I asked.

"Addelyn", She replied and I looked at her with an amused smile.

"She was probably joking with you. Don't take it seriously." I said and she nodded in agreement.

My eyes averted to the dance floor where Lynne still had her hands wrapped around Cole. A feeling of regret came over me as I saw her with him. She should've been here with me tonight. Not him. If only I didn't mess it up.

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard sobs coming from my side. I looked at Terra and noticed the tears falling down her cheeks.

"Hey, are you crying?" I asked softly.

I wrapped an arm around her and pulled her closer to me which made her rest her head on my shoulder as she cried.

"Don't cry, Terra. It was just a joke. People fall for such things all the time." I tried to comfort her but she kept crying.

"That's not it." She sobbed.

"Then what happened?" I asked.

"She... she k-knows about m-my mom." She cried, "A-And she's using t-that to m-manipulate m-me."

"What do you mean?" I asked as a frown made its way to my face.

"S-She told m-me that I-I don't b-belong here becau-because I-I'm just t-the m-maid's daughter."

She fisted my shirt in her hands and continued to cry, staining my suit in the process.

I looked around and noticed a bunch of people throwing disapproving glances our way. My mom was one of those people who glared at us, no doubt planning a lecture in her mind for letting Terra create a scene. But I ignored her and focused my attention back on Terra.

"She said t-that she'll send m-my mom and me t-to the streets an-and I was so scared, Blake." She stopped to catch a breath, "I was s-so scared because she-she h-has the power to d-do that and I-I'm a no-nobody."

"She wouldn't say something like that." I whispered mostly to myself while I found it hard to process what she said.

"You don't b-believe me?" She asked, raising her head from my shoulder.

"I didn't mean it like that." I said as I put a hand on her cheek, "It's just not like her to say something like that."

She took a deep exasperated breath, "You expect too much from her, Blake."

"I'm sorry for what she said. I'll go talk to her."

By now she had stopped crying and her face showed pure anger.

"Talk to her?" She shouted, "Didn't you talk to her the last time? She's not going to listen to you, Blake. She does not care about anybody but herself."

"She's not like that, Terra. You don't know her."

"Neither do you. You don't know her as well as you think you do. Because you keep pretending like she's an angel when she's actually nothing but a bitch."

"That's not true." I whispered.

"What more proof do you need, Blake? You know about her drugging me and you know that she threatened me to stay away from you. And now this." She pointed out, "Why do you still trust her?" She asked softly.

"She's my best friend and I know her well. I'm sure there's a reason why she's being like this. I'll talk to her."

She defeatedly shook her head, "You won't learn, will you?"

I took a deep breath and decided not to respond her question.

"Go wait in the car. I'll talk to her and then I'll drive you home."

I took out my phone and texted Lynne to meet me in the back entrance of the hall. I walked Terra towards my car and went to the place that I said I'll meet Lynne.

After ten minutes of waiting, I heard the sound of a pair of heels clicking on the floor.

"If you're expecting me to have sex in this place, you can forget about it." I heard her voice as she emerged from the exit of the building.

"I didn't call you here for sex." I told her.

She raised an eyebrow, "That's a first. Then why am I here?"

"I know about your conversation with Terra."

She smirked, "Did the little bitch already come crying to you?"

I rolled my eyes, "Lynne, why would you say something like that to her?"

She gave me a lopsided smile and walked closer to me.

"I change my mind." She said and locked her arms around my neck, "I don't mind having sex here."

I removed her hands from my neck. "You can't seduce me into forgetting about it."

"Well, it was worth a shot." She said taking a step away from me.

"Why would you say something like that?" I repeated my previous question. "Do you know how much you hurt her?"

"I love hurting her." She stated with a sinister smile playing on her lips.

"Lynne, this is not a game. You can't just hurt someone's feelings because you enjoy doing so."

"Could you stop talking about her?" She asked, "Seriously, you're making my head hurt."

"Be serious, Lynne."

"I'm serious about the fact that I'm fucking tired of hearing her name all the time. I had to tolerate it from Cole all night and now you."

"We wouldn't be having this conversation if you would just learn to respect her."

"She does not deserve to be respected."

"Why not? She didn't do anything wrong."

"Why do you keep defending her, Blake? I am your best friend. So, you're supposed to be on my side." She shouted.

"That's not how this works, Lynne. What you did was wrong and I can't support you in it." I said calmly.

She clenched her jaw and looked away from me.

"Why did you say that to her? Answer me, Lynne." I whispered softly as I stepped closer to her until I was standing right in front of her.

I rested my forehead on hers and closed my eyes. "You've been so closed off recently that you don't talk to me the way you did before." I said but she didn't respond.

"Lynne, please tell me what's wrong." I begged.

"Tell me what's bothering you. I can help you." I said hoping she would speak up but she remained silent.

"Please, talk to me."

"I can't." She finally spoke.

With that, she turned around and walked away without sparing me a last glance.

Author's Note

Soooooooo, that was....... umm, I have nothing to say.

That was another one of Blake's POV. And we saw Asher's thoughts on the open relationship. Those two guys are stupid as fuck, to be honest.

Well, I'm gonna change my schedule of uploading a chapter. So far, I've been updating every alternative day but now I'm gonna change it to every two days.

I actually had all these chapters written in advance except the last three ball chapters which I wrote in the last moment. So, now I ran out of contents and I need time.

So, if you liked what you read, vote.

If you want to keep reading, add this to your library so you'll know when I update.

If you have absolutely anything to say, good or bad, feel free to comment and let me know.

And if you made it till the end, thank you for reading and I love you so much!

Okay, have fun, enjoy life.

Signed,
Me
