Chapter 36: The wedding
Soyoung's POV
"This is the wedding garment and jewellery that his majesty has sent. Please get ready," Eunsang said as he pointed towards the servants holding the garment and the jewellery boxes.
"Keep them on the table!" I said as the servants put the things on the table and bowed.
"You all may leave!" As all of them were about to leave, I said, "Sir Eunsang...not you!"
I took out the brooch from my dress as Eunsang turned around and looked at me with confusion.
"Come here...I need to show you something that is so not right in this room. I can't believe this happened....it caused me so much inconvenience." I furrowed my brows as I dipped the pin of the brooch in the liquid that I put on my nails.
Eunsang came near and said, "What has gone wrong?! The last time I checked everything was fine..."
"Here...." I showed him the brooch.
He raised his eyebrows at me in confusion, "This brooch?! How is this a problem?!"
"Let me show you how!" As he was focused on the pin, I pricked his forehead with it.
"Ouch!" He rubbed his forehead, "Your majesty, what was...ahh..." He grabbed his head and sat down on the floor.
"I...I can't....ahh...." Slowly he became unconscious.
"This is my gift for Sian!" I smirked.

Sian's POV
I was sitting on the throne, all bored. Ugh...I hate this shade of red...
But I suppose it wouldn't have been so annoying if my bride was Eunsang. Talking about Eun, where the heck is he?! I scanned the crowd but didn't spot him...but I did spot Yeji staring at me. She is the only one other than me who is wearing red...why on earth is she wearing red?! Anyways, none of my business.....I didn't see Eun for such a long time...is he sobbing somewhere?! Is he jealous?! Is he hurt?!
I called my bodyguard, "Where is Eunsang?!" I asked.
"I don't know, your majesty. Haven't seen him around since morning," He bowed.
Ugh...I just want to get done with this stupid wedding quickly so that I can go find him.
"THE BRIDAL PROCESSION IS ENTERING THE HALL," The guard outside announced as the people in the hall stood up and bowed.
The eunuchs brought in a palanquin followed by the queen's maids. I rolled my eyes and went near the palanquin only to see that she was casually sitting inside wearing an unusually long veil. I rolled my eyes and extended my hand for her to take it and come out, I noticed that Lady Iseul grabbed her hand and placed it on mine.
My eyes widened as soon as I touched the hand....this is Eunsang! I lifted the veil a bit and gasped. It was indeed Eunsang but his eyes were closed.
"You all...leave him- I mean her...I will take her with me to the altar," I said and the maids bowed and moved backwards.
I picked up Eun in my arms and carried him to the altar in bridal style as everyone in the hall was awestruck.
I put him down on the throne and looked at the priest, "Begin the ritual!"
"Yes, your majesty!" He bowed while blushing.
I sat down next to Eunsang and wrapped my arms around him to support him.
"Eun....can you hear me?!" I said but there was no response from him. What did Lady Soyoung do again?! I can't tolerate her...I grabbed Eun's hand and checked his pulse, "He is not poisoned like last time...he is just unconscious. My spiritual energy shall bring his consciousness back."
I held his hand tightly and transferred some of my spiritual energy to him so that he comes back to his senses.
That's when I noticed her in the crowd among the maids. She smirked at me and gestured that I and Eun were looking great. I glared at her...my blood was boiling.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard Eun coughing beside me...he is conscious again.
The priest looked at Eun suspiciously that's when I started coughing as well...
"Ahh...my throat is so dry....*cough* *cough*...you continue with your rituals, royal priest...don't worry about me," He bowed and continued to do what he was doing.
I rubbed Eun's back, "You are safe with me, Eun...try to stay calm. We are getting married."
He gasped, "W-what?!"
"Why are you shocked? You don't want to marry me?" I asked.
Eun, "I-I-I want to...but..."
Even though I couldn't see his face, I knew he was blushing.
I spotted Lady Soyoung again in the crowd and smirked, "Thanks to the queen that we are getting married.
"The bride and groom shall bow to each other now," The priest said.
We both stood up and faced each other. He deep bowed at me two times before the final bow for which I bowed my head while he deep bowed at me.
"Your Majesty, here's the ring...put this on her majesty's finger," the priest gave me a blue diamond ring.
I took Eun's hand and slipped it on his ring finger before kissing his knuckles.
Then the priest gave him another blue diamond ring and said, "This is for His Majesty, dear queen..." Eun took the ring and slipped it on my finger.
"This is the holy wine...to seal this sacred marriage," He raised the two cups, "May you both become soulmates for an eternity," He gave us the cups.
We crossed our right hands with each other while holding the cups.
"I promise that I will always stay by your side...I promise that I will always love and protect you," I whispered.
"I promise that I will serve you with my soul and body and will always make you the happiest person in the entire universe for my love for you is eternal," He whispered as we both drank the wine.
"LONG LIVE THE IMPERIAL COUPLE!" Everyone cheered.
I lifted Eun's veil a bit and went underneath it as the crowd gasped and started murmuring.
"What are you doing?!" Eun looked at me with wide eyes.
"How can I not kiss you on this auspicious occasion?!" I cupped his face and kissed him with all the love that I have for him as his long veil covered us both.
He kissed me back shyly as he said, "I still can't believe this is happening..."
I caressed his cheek and said, "Probably tonight you'll believe." I winked and removed the veil over my head and fixed it properly over his head.
"You both have so much love for each other that it's making me so happy....may God bless you both with a lovely heir," The priest blessed.
"Thank you for all your blessings! We both promise to be the best monarchs!" I said.
"LONG LIVE THE KING! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!" The crowd cheered.
"You all may proceed towards the banquet hall and enjoy the feast," I said. Everyone gradually left the hall except for me, Eun, and Lady Soyoung.
As Eunsang lifted the veil, lady Soyoung said, "I was told that I am supposed to give you a gift...I hope you liked my gift."
I smirked, "Well...I did like this gift very much and that's why I must repay you with a lovely gift as well...expect it sooner," I glared at her.
She narrowed her eyes at me, "I don't want to waste my time and energy on you right now....bye." She turned around to leave.
"Stop! Change back to queen's clothes and meet me at the banquet hall." I said.
"I refuse!" She said.
"This is my order!" I said.
She turned around, "And why shall I obey?"
"Because you have promised to cooperate and we have to attend to guests at the banquet hall. So you better be obeying my orders," I made myself clear and turned to Eun, "You go and change as well..."
Eun nodded and as he passed by Soyoung, he looked at her and said, "I don't know if I should thank you or resent you but the thing that caused you inconvenience was very convenient to me."
"A good queen shall take care of her subjects so I decided to start with you," She said as both of them coldly stared at each other for a moment before leaving the hall.
"I shall change into something pretty as well...this shade of red doesn't suit me at all," I made my way towards my room.

3rd person POV
"The way he carried her...the kiss....the wedding...everything is making me SICK...UGHHH!!!!" Yeji threw away the pillows from her bed as tears rolled down from her eyes.
"Your Grace, calm down..." Lady Yun said
"SHUT UP!" Yeji slapped her. "UGH...I STILL CAN HEAR PEOPLE CHEERING FOR THEM..." Yeji yelled.
Yeji grabbed Yun and said while crying, "Do you know how the king used to look at me when I first came here?! He used to adore me but now he doesn't even care about my existence."
Lady Yun bowed and said, "Y-your Grace, how about you give the queen your gift right now? I heard that she went to her quarters to get changed."
Yeji wiped her tears and grabbed the small box from her table and smirked, "You're right! I must work on getting the king back instead of wasting my time here crying.

Soyoung's POV
As Iseul fixed the crown over my head, I heard Seojun, "Your Majesty, chief noble consort Yeji is requesting an audience."
"Let her in!" I said and soon the door opened and she came in followed by her lady-in-waiting.
They both bowed, "Long live the queen."
I looked at her and asked with a smile, "What brought you here?!"
"Your majesty, I brought you a herbal drink. It has been a long day for you but this will make you look more beautiful and fresh at the banquet hall..." She said as he held out the glass containing the drink.
"Why suddenly you are giving me this?" I asked looking at her.
"Uhh...I wanted to thank you for appointing me as the chief noble consort and also by seeing how much His Majesty and the people love you, I want you to shine always...hence I have brought this drink for you," She bowed politely.
"Her Grace has made it with her own hands, your majesty," The lady-in-waiting said.
"Is that so?!" I took the glass and sniffed, "I am so impressed by your gesture but I want you to drink it," I smiled and her eyes widened.
"N-no...how can I drink it? This is for you, your majesty," She said.
"Yes, but you are too kind and I want you to look more beautiful...hence, consider it as a gift from me...you won't refuse the queen's gift, right?!" I smiled and gave her the glass.
She looked at the glass and swallowed the lump in her throat.
"What happened? Drink it!" I said.
She took the glass and purposefully dropped it, "Oh no....I-I am so sorry, your majesty...Lady Yun, please clean it.
"Yes, your grace," Lady Yun knelt to clean it.
"Listen Yeji, do not fool around with me," I glared at her, "I have appointed you as the chief noble consort and I can also demote you to the most lower-ranking maid."
"I am sorry, your majesty...I don't understand you," She said.
I smiled and said, "You bought this herb from sir Jimin...didn't he tell you that you are only supposed to use half a spoon of this herb and any excess amount will make you look ugly instead of beautiful?!"
Her eyes widened and Lady Yun dropped the broken pieces on the floor again as soon as she heard me.
"Lady Yun! Do your work properly...else I will punish you!" I scolded her.
"S-sorry, your majesty!" She bowed.
I turned towards Yeji, "I think you knew the guidelines of using the herb...then why did you put the excess amount in that drink and tried to make me drink that?!"
"I-I..." She was speechless.
"This is a serious offence against the queen. Thus I am forbidding you to attend the banquet hall today...you shall remain in your room for the rest of the day," I said.
Yeji, "Your Majesty, I-"
"This is a small punishment for what you've done...if you further try to argue with me, I will put you to death!" I glared at her and called Seojun, "Seojun, escort her and Lady Yun to her room..."
"Yes, your majesty," Seojun bowed and guided them out of my room.
"What a scheming woman!" Iseul gasped.
I sighed, "This is just palace life..." I said as I looked at the carnations that Jeongguk gave me.
I poured herbal water into the carnation vase and said, "I wonder how the knights are doing?!"
Iseul patted my back and presented me with a whip.
"This?! This is the whip of the Cha mansion.." I said.
"Yes...the whip that the lady of the Cha mansion uses..." She said.
"How did you get it?" I asked.
"Wook brought it today..." She said, "You will require it to teach the scheming ladies in the harem a lesson."
I chuckled, "Thank you, Iseul."
"Shall we go to the banquet now?!" She asked and I nodded.
...................
Jin's POV
As we were returning to the capital after the victory, we met the royal army on the way. From them, we got to know that Lady Yeji didn't become the queen and the queen is someone called Lady So.
"Queen So's beauty is out of this world, sir!" The general said.
"Really?! But I don't think she is more beautiful than our wife!" Jimin said.
"But she is dead, sir. You all only presented her head to the king..." The general said.
"Yes, for you all..." Jeongguk smiled.
"Huh?!" The general was confused.
"Leave him...what is her clan name?!" I asked.
"We don't know...the king randomly brought her out of nowhere and claimed her the queen...but they both make such a lovely couple. They are madly in love with each other and they are a match made in heaven," He said.
"Or a match made in hell..." Yunki rolled his eyes.
"Hyung, his yin and yang energies weren't balanced and that's why he couldn't make Yeji the queen but who is this woman he found?!" Namjun whispered.
"I am curious as well!" I narrowed my eyes.
"Only one way to find out...." Taehyun said.
"Yeah...let's go to the capital as soon as we can!" Hosung said.
"We've rested enough! Let's get going everyone...we must reach the capital today." I said while mounting my horse. The others followed my lead as we all marched towards the capital.
