Chapter Three
Ciel' s POV
I hit her. The scene keeps replaying over and over in my head. I hit a girl, who was frail and injured. She touches her face, and stares up at me for a moment, tears streaming down her face.
Then she pushes past me and runs away.
"Damn," I mutter. I begin to pace. I still can't believe I hit her. I am dumbstruck.
"My Lord, what is troubling you?" Sebastian appears in the doorway.
"I hit her," I whisper. He cocks his head to the side. "Go find Juliette and attend to her leg," I say. He bows and leaves.
Juliette' s POV
I hear a knock on the door.
"Juliette, May I attend to your leg?" Sebastian asks.
"I'd rather bleed!" I shout. I bury my face in my pillow. The door opens and Sebastian walks in.
"If I don't fix it, it will get an infection." He cleans it with alcohol and begins to wrap it.
"The master would like you to serve him his dinner."
"Of course," I say. He finishes wrapping it and looks up at me.
"What happened to your cheek?" He asks. I look away an hold back tears. "I see. Well, the master left a big bruise there." He tentatively touched my cheek. He leaves. I bring dinner to the master. He doesn't look at me the whole time. He must hate me.
Ciel' s POV
Juliette brings me my dinner and will not meet my eyes. What is going on in my head? Why am I caring about her emotions. I see her place her hair in front of her face.
"Juliette, come here," I say. She walks over to where I sit.
I reach forward and brushed the hair out of her face. She shivers, and I see a tear escape her eye. I gently wipe it away, but she winces. I pull my hand away to see a large bruise the size of my hand formed on her cheek.
Her dark eyes look up, and she is trembling in fear. I sigh, and grab her hand, pulling her into a tight embrace.
"M...master," she says. She lies limp in my arms.
"I'm sorry Juliette," I say. She gasps, but then excepts my embrace.
"Master, I apologize for what I said, I..." She breaks off.
"I just want you to know that I regret hurting you," I say. I feel moisture drip onto my suit. I pull away to see she is crying.
"This has been my home since my parents died. This is all I have. I'm sorry master," she says.
"Your job is your home?" I ask. I see hurt flash across her face.
"I assumed it was more than a job, but I suppose I was mistaken. I'm sorry that disturbs you master," she says and turns to leave.
Juliette POV
My Romeo became Tybalt before my eyes as he yet again mocks my emotions. I feel my heart break as he implements unnecessary cruelty upon my heart. It is as if he has reached into my soul and crushed it.
