Chapter 24

"Nice try." He mocked before throwing himself at her. Something gleamed in the firelight and slashed at her before she could move out of the way. Rozinov blinked before looking down at her stomach where the dagger stuck out at an odd angle. She coughed up blood and spat on his face

"Rude," she muttered a dark snarl ripping open her face.

-Anala-

"Rude," I muttered, forcing a snarl onto my face. I grab at the man's hand and drag him closer to me, digging the blade further into my stomach.

"You don't even have the decency to kill me," I whisper, lifting my knee and kicking him in his groin with such force I am sure something exploded down there. The castrated man looked as if he lost all his breath. His scared face turned a pretty shade of purple, and his white eye looked ready to pop out. He falls to his knees before me, holding whatever was left down there.

I jerk my arm back and punch as hard as my body can hit. Throwing the man into a tree.

"I don't know if you worthless pieces of shit pray, but if you do, now would be a good time." I grit, a smirk crawling onto my face.

"Torture," I whisper to my souls, and I gasped in shock when the rush of power and electricity made every cell in my body spark to life. It was almost distracting enough to ignore every wolf cry out in pain.

Almost.

I could still hear their cries of pain when the souls began showing them everything I have ever felt in my life. Every stab, every gunshot, and every whiplash. All of those sensations were attacking their minds. They were distracted, and I found my chance.
I put pressure on my stomach as I limped my way to the captive vampires.

"Run," I growl at them, and they all flinched away from me, scared of what I might do. My heart and gut twisted in pain at their reaction, but I shrug it off.
They weren't blind or deaf, they could all see what I was doing, and they were scared of me.

"LEAVE." I screeched at them, and several of the mothers grabbed at their children and bolted into the forest with incredible speed. I look at the man who stayed kneeling in front of me. I raise an eyebrow, and he lowers his head.

"Thank you. How can we repay you?" The man whispered. I jerked my head to the werewolves screaming in pain. I looked around and found a discarded gun a couple of steps away from me. Limping towards it I gingerly picked it up and held it to the vampire.

"Shoot them," I whisper, he looks up at me, perplexed by my request.

"I know this is hard to understand, but if I kill them...I would have to take their souls." I pause shuddering at the thought. I didn't want more...and even though their deaths would still be on my head...I still couldn't pull the trigger.

"But I cannot claim another man's victims. For their sake...shoot them in the head." I whisper. The vampire nodded his head and took the gun from my trembling fingers.

"My pleasure." He answered and walked to the closest wolf, writhing in pain. The wolf's long black hair clung to his sweat-stained forehead. He looked up, staring into nothing before the vampire walked over to him and pulled the trigger. I look away from hearing more shots.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spot movement and notice the man with the dead eye barely crawling to another wolf who was still alive. The vampire walks over to them and points the gun.

"Not those two." I voice loudly, and the vampire hesitates and walks away.

Thirteen more shots filled the air.

Thirteen more voices silenced under my order.

Everything in me wanted to cry from all the death and destruction around me.
This needs to be done. Rica reminds me, and I nodded my head in agreement.

I know. I whisper

We can't have them following us anymore. We need to set an example.

I know I whisper again, too numb to process any more, to give a coherent answer

They deserved it. Repeat it to yourself. They deserved it. Ulrica chanted in my head.

They...deserved...this I finally mutter in our thoughts. I feel her approval, and she doesn't push me to repeat it. My gut lurched, and a churning mixture of digestive fluids filled my mouth. I was too weak to behold my work. I limp over to a bush and spit out everything.

I looked up when I noticed the vampire standing behind me. I jerked my head to the two vampires tied up and the older man.

"Get them out of here. You all have a chance to start again. Don't. Waste. It." I ordered and turned around, looking at the dead wolves scattered across the grounds. Their bodies laid in the awkward angles they died in. I pause by a rather young looking man, staring at the bullet wound, it was so small. Somewhat ragged around the edges but barely bleeding. The exit wound hidden in the back of his head. If it weren't for that hole, and that his face held a purplish tint, bluish even, he could be asleep. I keep in my sob and continue walking closer to the man with the dead eye, still trying to crawl to the other wolf.

I like this one. Ulrica approved, He's strong. I look back at the mountain of a man, and I agreed with her. No other wolf under my torture was able to move an inch without crying out in pain. I crouch down and poke at his arm. He gasped in shock but otherwise kept silent.

It will be so much fun to break him Ulrica chuckled, and I cringed away again from her bloodlust.

Don't tell me he doesn't deserve it Rica scowled throwing the picture of the dead girl in my mind.

I know he does...it's just... I trail off, unable to form words for the immense guilt I feel watching these wolves suffer everything I have felt.

But they had wanted to wipe away an entire species and for what? A King who couldn't even fight his own battles? A bastard who ordered children to be killed in the cruelest way possible.

I shouldn't feel like this I chastised myself.

You have such a kind heart Anala. But they don't deserve it. They don't deserve you. Ulrica soothed, and I press my hand tighter to my stomach, suddenly feeling drained. I glance back at the man who was still trying to crawl his way to the other wolf. I got back up and walked my way towards the man.

He was short and had tousled dark brown hair, which was thick and lustrous. In his intense silence, he somehow screamed with his whole body. His mesmerizing deep silver eyes wide with horror, his mouth rigid and open, his pale face gaunt and immobile, a fist clenched with blanched knuckles and the nails digging deeply into the palm of his hand. His other hand outstretched clutching the air, searching for something. I glance back at the man with the dead eyes, crawling towards us.

His mate Ulrica growled, a hint of jealousy in her voice and I take a step back.

"Stop," I command, and I could feel the powerful hum, rushing through my body die down.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING! Ulrica screamed, but I ignored her. I bend down and pick up the knife that was strapped to a man's leg and walk over to the dead-eyed wolf.

He struggles to his knees, his one clear eye glaring at me.

"Are you going to finish me off, Blood Wolf." He hisses at me. I stare at him, calmed by my plan. He jerks one knee up, trying to stand, and before he can make another move, I slammed the knife into his foot, pinning him to the ground. The man roared in pain, and I quickly steal two more daggers from his side and plunge the blades in his hands, trapping him.

Ulrica...I can't do this part. I cry inside, and I feel her caress me and her entire being warm my body, and I willingly give her control of our body.

Ulrica takes our hand carefully strokes the man's scarred face, brushing by the King's mark branded in the side of his head.

"Name." She says in a soothing warm tone.

"Bram." He gritted out, trying to take in heavy breathes and stifle the excruciating pain he must be feeling.

"And is he your mate, Bram," Rica asks, pointing to the unconscious man behind us. Bram jerks his body violently towards us.

"I swear on the Moon Goddess if you hurt him again I will -"

"Temper, temper, temper." Ulrica chuckles, "You'll what? Kill me?" Rica gestured to the stab wound in our stomach, slowly healing.

"You tried that, didn't work." Rica bragged, and Bram bared his teeth at us, his eyes turning bright yellow.

"So full of fire, aren't you?" Bram murmured in wonder. A small smile flickered on the corner of his lips and flared wicked bright in his eyes. Ulrica caressed our fingers alongside the tightness of his jaw, tracing a scar just to the side of his dead eye. "It's going to be glorious watching my King, tame your flames or watching it burn you up." Bram seethed, and our hand lurched forward, for a moment I think she is going to punch him in the face. But instead, she reaches towards the milky dead eye and digs our broken fingernails into his skin.

Blood shoots out, hitting us in the face. The warm liquid slides down our arm, and I watch curiously as Ulrica grabs hold of the eye and yanks with all her might. Almost like pulling the weeds, root, and stem, out of the soft damp ground. My gut twisted with nausea, and if Rica didn't have control of my body, I'm positive I could've puked out everything I ate for the last month.

The man screamed in agony, and Ulrica jerked her hand back and thrust our whole body into the punch sending him flying into a brick wall of the burning house. The knives were ripping his hands in half.

"Why do men like you not see us. Why do you all underestimate our abilities," Ulrica snarled. "We have the power to turn you into ruins! To shatter your souls. Burn you and your sanctuaries down!" She roared gesturing to the house and holding up the mangled eye, waving our strength in his face.

Ulrica, I whisper shocked at what she had done. She brushes me off too angry to listen to me anymore.

"I would kill a thousand men before I let one make me his slave!" She shouted, walking towards the wolf and dragging him to the center of the field. The wolf didn't even fight our hold over him, he laid there, limp from the control the souls were forced on him.

Bram stumbled to his feet, still clutching his eye.

"You're a weapon," Bram yelled. "I confiscate weapons and bring them to my King. Where he can use you to your full abilities."

"I'm a person. You can't confiscate people!" Ulrica screamed.

"You can when they cause this much damage in the space of two weeks," Bram said solemnly, gesturing around at the dead bodies around us. "Would you prefer the term 'monster'? 'Criminal? Both hold you responsible for the suffering and destruction you've inflicted and...you can't even control your powers."

Ulrica points the tip of the knife to the man who was clutching his eye.

"You seem to forget who you're dealing with," She growls.

"You seem to forget who my master is." He retorted, Ulrica slowly raised her hand and brought the knife onto the wolf's body. She was never breaking eye contact with Bram. She brings her arm back and stabs the wolf in his right shoulder. As if broken out of a trance, the wolf screamed and writhed in pain beneath our hand. But Ulrica held firm on the wolf's neck. She raised our arm again, aiming for the other arm.

Bram clutches his heart, falling to his knees, feeling the pain of his mate's suffering. Ulrica stabs again and again. Until the body, we held in our grasp stopped moving.

We stand up and drag the body to Bram who lay gasping for air. His body unable to deal with the pain of losing its mate but I knew he would never be the same ever again.

Your turn Rica whispered in my ear, and I take control of our body.

I pick up the body and drop it on Bram's chest. Silent tears streamed down his face.

"Poison," I whisper to one of my souls and producing a small bottle with bright red liquid out of thin air it handed the bottle to him.

"Here." I whisper to Bram, lowering myself to him, "Now you have something to bring back to your king. And when you go back, I hope you can relay my message to him." I said sweetly.

"What makes you think I will ever do anything for you."

"Because you won't have a choice," I whisper in his ear. Opening the bottle, I shove the contents down his throat. I place my hand on his mouth and plug his nose. He begins to struggle, but the poison doesn't take long to slide down his throat. I remove my hands.

"WHAT WAS THAT!"

"That was my insurance; you will do whatever I tell you to do." I smile, a wicked gleam in my eyes.

"Each day that poison is in, you will feel like walking through Hell. Each day it will be like your lungs are collapsing, your brain exploding, and it will deteriorate your entire body and soul." I pause, wiping away some more tears. "You will be the one begging for death. Until you do what I say."

"What." He gritted out already feeling the effects of the poison.

"Tell the king, the next time he sends someone after me, I will personally deliver their heads. And I will not rest until I burn his entire kingdom to the ground and make him watch." I hiss, "After you utter those words, the poison will stop."

And you will die. Ulrica finishes for me. I smile, getting up and wiping my hands on my shirt.

I give a little wave before disappearing into the forest.

Satisfied.
