Two men stand beside me, one holding an empty bucket, that I assume had cold water in it a second ago. Not going to lie its a gentle wake-up call from previous experiences but now I am cold, wet, and tired.

When we have the chance...can you hit him with a knife? Ulrica asks, and I breathe a sigh of relief

I believe the technical term is 'stab' and no. I deadpanned. I look at the two men calmly, and they continue to stare at the door in front of us. I look around, noticing I was chained to a wooden chair.

Amatures. Ulrica scoffs and I couldn't help but agree. These chains weren't silver, and the chair was starting to rot away from dried blood. Any wolf could break free with a simple jerk of the chain. They didn't even tie my legs down. I look at the room again for anything to help me. The prison cell was a hollow cube of concrete, one way in, no windows. But a drastic contrast to the one in my old pack, the walls and tiles were not cracked, there wasn't a single lightbulb fading in and out. But the same idea was here...in this prison, I could lose track of time, have no idea if it's night or day. It's disorientating by design. Given enough time a person could forget their own name in here. The isolation was total, and the stimulation was zero. No sound, fixed lighting that may have a timer, no furniture or cloth of any kind, even the walls were smooth.

Rica, what happened? Where were you? I asked closing my eyes, picturing her in my mind. I saw her turn away and bring her head in her paws.

I don't know Ana... One minute I was right there watching through your eyes trying to heal us and then...Everything was dark...I thought for a moment you passed out, but I was left awake. All senses left me altogether. I couldn't even form words in my head or say them to you...I heard you call out to me and I tried to fight...to get back to you but our connection kept on fading in and out... I tried to talk to you, to tell you to run but nothing came out until he was wounded. You were dying...Ana... I'm so sorry. Rica sobbed, and my body felt empty. So I was alone...somehow that man...Thanatos...he cut my connection with my own wolf.

How? How was he able to do that? To render my wolf and me completely defenseless. A small shiver of fear passed through me. All my life no matter what happened to me, no matter what situation I was in...I always had Rica, and I still had my strength. That man tossed me around like a rag doll...and there was nothing I could do to stop him.

What are you talking about? You blew up that irrumator praetor matrem suam! [Motherfucker] I feel my body grow hot when I think of that asshole. From the corner of my eyes, I see the guard shift a little, and I look down in surprise to see my hand beginning to smoke up.

I need to calm down...I can't keep using my powers when I know I can't control them. I tell myself, and I feel Rica's disagreement and want to argue that but I ignore it. I focus on my breathing, in and out...in and ou-My thoughts were distracted when I hear shouting outside the door. The guards beside me tense up, I sit back and get comfortable in my chair. The door creaks open, and I brace myself for anything. The older man walked in with a walking stick, he had a thin, high-cheeked face, with a vertical wrinkle between his eyes. He closes the door, his cold black eyes never leaving my own. I narrow my eyes a little, accepting his challenge. The man chuckles and shakes his head a little, breaking eye contact. He realizes his mistake and jerks his head up to stare back into my eyes. But its too late, I lift my chin a little higher. It's known that a werewolf demands respect...no matter their rank if you lower your eyes you submit. The man walks over to the guard.

"Leave." He says, his voices rough and low.

"She's a fighter, Sir. Please be careful." My head snaps to the guard who spoke. I haven't done anything to warrant that comment

Yet. Rica answers and I mentally roll my eyes. I watch the two guards walk towards the door and shift a little in my chair. Before I can blink the old man is in front of me, his cane inches away from my throat.

"Try it" Ulrica hisses, taking over my body. I fight for control, but she doesn't give in. The old man stares impassively at us. Our eyes go blood red, and I know Ulrica is on the verge of ripping this man apart.

"I dare you" She taunts, leaning forward, so the cane presses right up against our skin. It's cold and grimy. The man tilts back his head and gives a loud, gruff laugh...almost like he was choking on water.

"So the demon comes out to play, huh? What's the matter? The little girl got scared and let her demon fight her battles, and she was a quivering mess when I first saw her." Ulrica jerked up and tore the cane from his hands, breaking the chains and kicking the chair to the far wall shattering it to pieces.

"Insult her again, and it will be my pleasure shattering every bone in your body starting with your fingers, bone by bone, knuckle by knuckle, I will make you suffer. " Ulrica hissed stalking towards the old man who had the decency to look afraid, "Then once you are on the brink of death, I will consume you and make you my personal bitch. Everything you once knew will be gone, and you will be mine! I will reduce you to nothing more than a mindless slave" I felt a warm feeling spread through my heart.

I'm okay, Rica. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me. I try to calm her down, but she growls at me.

I MIND Rica growls in our mind, and I give a silent laugh. The old man was shrinking in the corner from fear of us.

Let me talk to him I whisper, Ulrica hesitates.

If there is even the slightest bit of danger, you can come out. I bargain, and Rica moves aside for me to take control, still reluctant. When I finally have full control of my body I turn around and go towards the farthest end of the cell and sit down.

"That was a dumb idea." I finally say after a minute of silence.

"Yeah." The older man breathed still shaking from the encounter.

"Why did you antagonize her then?" I ask tilting my head, and the old man slides down the wall, sitting down as well. Thankfully he kept his eyes down and even bowed his head...enough to stop Rica growling inside my head.

"I wanted to see..." he trailed off

"If the rumors were true." I finished rolling my eyes. The man nodded and looked down, ashamed.

"And?" I ask

"They are true... your Blood Wolf is terrifying but you...did you stop her?" He asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"You know the saying curiosity killed the cat?" I ask, ignoring his questions. He smiled weakly.

"But satisfaction brought it back." He countered rubbing his hands on his legs.

He's nervous Ulrica observed.

"Why am I here?" I blurt out startling the man with my harsh tone.

"We found you in the woods, so we brought you here to help you." He muttered I tilted my head to the side letting my hair fall away from my face. I can feel his heart beat faster...the rhythm picking up just slightly. Ulrica rumbles within me, and I feel my own growl join in. I stand up and stalk towards him, my prey.

"Do you know what my old job was? At my pack I mean." My voice is low and throaty. The man shakes his head, still sitting. He brings his legs closer to his body.

"My job was weeding out the rogues and traitors...I would capture them," The man shrinks farther into the wall with each step I take, "And I would torture them for information...I can tell when someone lies to me...or hides the whole truth." I stop in front of his quivering body.

"I had to...It was either them or me. It looks like we are in the same situation I guess." I look down at him, my eyes glowing red, "This will be your last chance...why did you bring me here?" The older man looked like he was going to wet himself. He was shaking, his eyes dilated, and he was sweating like a pig.

"We need you." He whispered.

"Why!"

"We were going to sell you to the Alpha King...to save our dying race." He cried. Ulrica made a lung for him an instant later, there was a blinding flash, like sheet-lightning, and a giant ball of varicolored fire belched toward us. I grab the man, and we slam hard into the opposite wall. Fire and smoke surrounded us. My ears rang from the noise, and the smoke blinded my eyes.

"It's too late!" The man gave a crazed laugh.

"Shit!"
