We flew past clouds like a couple of effortless birds. "Here it is." Peter announced as the vision cleared from the clouds. "Neverland!" But it was not the Neverland I was used to. The normally happy island looked drained of life and depressed. The lush green mountains were rocky and void of life. The usual crystal clear shores were dreadfully murky and I could spot a few large groups of dead fish floating on top. Any trees were stripped of their leaves and no wildlife was in sight. Just a couple of Vultures and few sharks gliding around the dead fish. I covered my mouth in shock. There was an obvious terrified look in my eyes. "What happened?" I asked with words stinging of hurt. Peter gave a hurt sigh as we landed on the sand of a beach. "I don't know. Neverland's magic has just been fading. If it doesn't stop soon me and the lost boys will all grow up!" I gasped and covered my mouth. "That's terrible!" He looked down at his feet and looked like he was close to tears. "I know." He jerked his head up to look at me and his expression changed from sorrow to one of childlike curiosity. "I never did get your name. You know mine is Peter Pan," he gave a prideful look and stance, while placing a fist over his heart, "But What is your name?" I gave a small smile and swiped some of the dirt from my tights and sweatshirt. "My name is Elyse Ivy." He placed a hand on his chin as if he were thinking. "Elyse." He said, trying the name out for himself. "I like it! Welcome to Neverland, Elyse." I smiled at his childlike joy. "Why thank you, Peter Pan." I scanned the wildlife surrounding the barren beach. It was dark, gloomy, foggy, and dead. Not a tree gave off green flakes of life and not an animal cried of vitality. No, the island was deadly silent. I walked over to a small patch of what looked like was once a valley of flowers. I'd read the books, seen the movies, heck I'd even been to Disneyland met "Peter Pan" But I never would have thought Neverland could look like this. So shriveled and deprived of life that it might just give up and sink at any moment. I got down on my knees as I looked at the flower patch and Peter flew over next to me. "It's so sad really... I wish I could help." "But you can." "How? How am I supposed to help?" I asked, sounding a little more furious then I planned. Peter looked taken back. "Sorry.." I replied as I looked down. I lightly rested my fingers on one of the brittle stems of a dead flower. It must've been beautiful in its hay day. As I stroked the stiff stem something odd happened. The plant's color started to return. It's stem began to take on height and color until it was a beautiful tall sunflower. "Peter..." I called to him. He was just as much I awe as I was. "What did you do?" He asked. I shook my head. "I don't know! I just touched it and it- it- I don't know!" Just then a flash of light zipped past me close to my face. Peter started giggling gleefully. "Hiya Tink!" I blinked my eyes in disbelief. "Tinkerbell?"
