For the next few months, Sakura worked to learn and prefect the art of medical jutsu.
She first worked on small fish, which Sakura healed on her sixth try with surprising ease. Then she moved on to rodents such as mice. This was a bit trickier, but Sakura got the hang of it within a day.
Sakura was instructed to read a book on the human anatomy. Tsunade said that she had to learn everything there is to know about every bone, muscle, or organ in the body. She had to memorize the common and medical terms of everything. She read and memorized every medical book in the Konoha Library, word for word. She did this all in six weeks.
Tsunade then handed her a 2546 paged book on all the poisons ever known, how to make the treatment for this poison, along with a 657 paged book on how to break down new poisons that have not yet been discovered and how to find a cure.
Sakura finished those within one month.
"She's a freaking genius!" Tsunade exclaimed in her weekly meeting with the Queen. "She memorized the whole freaking human anatomy! Then she just calmly moved onto poisons and memorized that too!"
The Queen chuckled quietly. She was sitting on the Hokage desk, having a chat with the Hokage. "I told you she had potential."
"Potential? POTENTIAL?!" Tsunade threw her hands in the air. "She's a prodigy. Someone of this talent should have been noticed long ago!"
"Really? Just think about it. Remember when I first told you about her, you were surprised because she was of civilian birth. Well, prodigies are mostly found from famous parentage or powerful clans. Civilian prodigies are very rare, so rare that people have simply stopped looking for them." The Queen explained. "That's what happened to Sakura. Plus, not many prodigies are girls."
Tsunade nodded in understanding. "May I spar with her? Just to see what the student of the Queen of Masks is made of?"
The Queen smiled behind her mask. "I'm sure we can arrange that. Is tomorrow good for you?"
