Jan's POV

I took a deep breath as I put on my NerveGear and laid down. I stared at the ceiling and took in a deep breath. Sword Art Online, the only place where I can actually fit into this crazy world I now live in. My sword, Ryūketsu is the thing keeping me alive to this very day. Without it, I would have been dead hundreds of years ago. Ryūketsu has formed into a gem ever since that day. It's been engraved a little under my neck on my chest. I've never tried using it since then. I'm too afraid to remove it from its current spot.

But something strange happened when I applied for the SAO Beta test. When I played the game, I found in my inventory... a sword. It had ??? as a name. It was unknown to the game but it looked exactly like Ryūketsu. I was shocked to see my sword after so long. But how did it get into the game? And how was I still able to use it?

My name is Jan Arceus. Why aren't I dead by now? I answered that question already. Why am I all alone in this new high tech world? All my friends from the past are dead. I found out who my parents were, it's too late. You can't change the past can you? Not from weakness, from age. Every living being shall taste death. Even I will, I don't know when but maybe the day will be soon. Time to live life while I still can.
