Spanish and French Translations in the A/N at the end

Cara POV

"Wow, you actually got him to talk to her. That's a... never before seen achievement right there," Keanu said after I told him what happened between me and Ace. 

"I know. I'm amazing, you don't have to remind me."

"That you are Cara, that you are."

"So are you ever gonna tell me about that mysterious ex-girlfriend of yours?"

"Oh yeah, but where to begin...?" 

"How about, I dunno, the beginning?" 

 "Right... so the beginning of sophomore year. Ace had met this girl over the summer and was dating her while I was single. Another girl had started trying to talk to me. At first I thought she was kind of clingy. Always coming up to me and starting conversations, but after a while I kind of liked it. I started actually participating in her conversations and we got close. There's no doubt in my mind that I was in love with her, but unfortunately she did not feel the same for me." Keanu stopped for a second and laughed to himself. 

"Funny, isn't it? She started off clinging to me and I ended up clinging to her. Anyway, she became toxic. Trying to distance me from my friends and family to try and have me to herself for whatever reason. She never actually cheated, but she told her friends about how if certain guys from our school were interested she would drop me in a heartbeat. Basically told everyone that I was just a casual thing. Like a distraction almost, but I didn't care, I was in love!" He sighed. 

"Finally Ace confronted me about it, telling me that she wasn't good for me and I lashed out at him. I told him he didn't know what he was talking about, that he was crazy. I was rude to my family too. Getting mad for the simplest things. That day when I went to sleep I thought everything over and realized the absolute jerk I had been. I apologized to my parents and Ace the next day and broke up with her."

"Does she still go to our school?"

"Nah. Her name was Cherry Thompson. She left after Sophomore year."

"Oh, I remember her!"

"Yeah... I used to call her babygirl."

"Oh?" I asked, interested in what he had to say.

"I stopped after a while, she told me that name disgusted her."

"Oh..." Wow.

"I should've asked you before I just randomly started calling you babygirl, right?"

"No, no, I like it. It's fine. Call me what you want Kean."

"You're going to regret saying that..."

I groaned. "Ugh, leave it to Keanu Carmichael to always make things dirty."

He laughed. "Anytime babygirl."

"Wait, I have a question. Why did you call me babygirl at first in the groupchat? You didn't know anything about me."

"I wanted to try it out. See how it fit with your personality. I had a weird, but good feeling about you despite me thinking you wanted to 'try and change me' and I'd say everything worked itself out pretty nicely."

"Thanks... I guess?"

We both started laughing and continued with our late night talk.

After breakfast and chores the next morning the first thing I did was text Lucía. 

How'd it go with Ace? -C

A lot better than I expected, you really are a great match maker. -L

Yes! I knew it would work :) So does my best friend have a boyfriend now? -C 

No, not yet. -L

And why not? Do I have to go threaten Ace? -C

No, chica, it's okay. I told him he'd need to work for the title of my boyfriend for making me go through such emotional trauma yesterday. It's a joke, but at the same time it isn't. I'm having fun though! -L

And tell me, what is he doing to 'work for his title'? -C 

Well... I told him he would have to beg while we were talking, so that was fun to read. And to hear over the phone. -L 

Of course you did Lucy. Always making things difficult. -C 

Yup! That's me :) 

Anyways, I also told him he had to prove to me that he really wanted this and wasn't messing with me. -L

And... what happened?? -C

Well... first he sent an extremely long, extremely sweet paragraph to me... then he posted about me and how much he liked me on his story to ward away any girls... then he sent a bunch of food to my house with a note attached. I don't even know how he got my address! -L

I might've kinda sent Ace Lucía's home address cause he told me what he wanted to do for her.

What?! I couldn't get in the way of true love.

Hmm weird. I wonder. Anywho that's so cute!! I'm so happy for you :) -C 

I'm happy too! I don't know how this'll end, but I have high hopes for us. I really think we could make it past high school and I really hope we do. -L

I can't wait to see you guys grow up and have kids. I'll look at them and say 'you guys wouldn't have been born if not for me' They will basically be my children. -C 

Yes, yes and I'll look at you and Kean's kids and say 'tu mami era una tonta cuando era más joven' -L

Yeah, yeah, anyway, Kalani told everyone about you and that we've been texting and calling for a while and then she told everyone that she knew you and that sparked their attention because in their eyes I have awful taste in female companions because of Cherry, but since you're friends with Kalani everyone thinks you're cool now and they want me to call you so they can meet you. -K

Wow. That was a lot. -C

So basically you're saying I get the honor of meeting the parents of two of my favorite people? -C 

Aww, I'm one of you're favorite people? -K 

No, Kean. I was talking about your little sister Kalia. -C 

But you haven't even met her! -K

I called Keanu and as soon as he answered all I could hear was yelling and I couldn't really make out what anyone was saying. After a while I'm assuming Kean's parents told everyone to stop yelling and took the phone. 

"Keanu, why can't I see the young lady Kalani was telling me about? I bet she's pretty."

"Mom, I haven't even seen her. It's a thing that we're doing so we don't judge each other based on our physical characteristics."

"Wait, so she doesn't even know what you look like?"

"No Kalani, she doesn't know what I look like."

"Figures, doubt she'd still be talking to you if she did."

I decided to say something because I was feeling extremely rude staying quiet while everyone else was talking.

"How about we change to video call and Keanu just stays out of the frame. That way Keanu and I can still communicate the way we do and I can see you guys."

"That's a great idea, Kalani come change it to video call. Keanu, go in your room."

I heard Keanu groan and the say, "Alright mom, let me know when I can have my phone back."

The video call request came soon after and I accepted it.

My phone lit up with a darker skinned woman. She wasn't black, but she wasn't white either and she definitely wasn't mixed. I think she was Indian. She had beautiful long frizzy hair down her back. The man next to her was significantly lighter than her, but still pretty tanned. His hair had grays in it, but both of them looked very young.

"Hi Cara! Kalani and Keanu have told us so much about you!"

"Hi! Hi! I have a question!" The camera panned down to a little girl who was obviously Kalia.

"What's up Kalia?"

Her cute little eyes widened in shock "Oh my gosh, you know my name!?"

"Yeah, Kean talks about you a lot."

"Oh yeah, oh yeah, my question! Are you gonna marry my brother??"

"Uhh..." Her eyes looked so hopeful in that moment that I couldn't find it in myself to tell her anything other than, "Not as of right now, but who knows what could happen."

"Oh my god!"

"Kalia!" I heard her mother say, "What did we tell you about that word."

"Sorry mommy! I meant oh my gosh! You and my brother are gonna get married!!"

"Uh, well-"

The Camera came back to Keanu's parents and they looked like they were eagerly waiting to ask me questions.

"So Cara, how did you and Keanu meet?"

I laughed, "So there was this groupchat..."

I answered Mr and Mrs Carmichael's questions for about an hour and a half before they gave Keanu his phone back, not before switching the call back to voice.

Then I was grilled by Keanu for another hour and a half because he wanted to know if they had embarrassed him. Surely enough they had told me a few stories, but I didn't tell him that. 

Keanu and I once again fell asleep on call but before drifting off to sleep I heard him mumble one last thing. 

"Love you Cara, sweet dreams." 

And so I responded. 

"Je t'aime aussi."

I hope everyone liked this chapter! It was a longer one and I think the Cara meeting Keanu's parents thing was absolutely adorable :)
