"Hello." We heard a deep voice over the phone which I immediately recognised as Chanyeol. I could faintly hear him over the phone.

"Please don't hang up! This is Chen!" Chen said immediately as if scared that Chanyeol would hang up any moment. The latter's voice seemed confused and shocked at first, followed by an uncomfortable silence.

"Guys, it's him! Chen is fine! Hurry up!!" Chanyeol shouted and then, it was as if a crowd rushed up towards the phone. I could hear almost all of them talking at the same time.

"Where are you?!"

"Are you okay?!"

"Do you know how worried we got?!"

"I didn't think I'd ever say this but I love you! Please hurry up and come back!" One of them said over the phone almost at the verge of tears. Shit, who was that?! Which one of them was it?!

"I don't have the time to answer your questions. If you guys don't hurry up and come here, then we'll be killed for sure." Chen said.

"He just said 'we'." Kai said over the phone.

"Are you with someone? How can you trust random strangers on a purge night?!" Lay outraged and Chen only gave me an awkward smile. My ultimate bias just called me a 'random stranger on a purge night' and I. heard. it...

"She's a kid so it's okay." Chen chuckled. Kid?! He just said I'm a kid! He's teasing me on purpose! I know! I just know!

Suddenly I noticed a shadow approaching the fire exit. What a timing!

"Chen, someone's coming." I whispered.

"Cut the crap, guys! Chen, where are you?" A voice that I recognised as Xiumin's spoke over the phone. I slowly saw the figure nearing the corridor.

"Chen, he's coming hurry up!" I whispered impatiently.

"I don't know this place! We're in an office building... and" Chen dragged the sentence while I saw the figure nearing the corridor. "There's a parking lot around..." Chen added. He doesn't know this place!

"Chen, stop going around in circles!" I whispered.

"Okay, what do you guys see outside the building? Any landmarks?" Xiumin asked and Chen just looked outside the windows for anything and that's when I lost it. I snatched the phone from his hand and placed it against my ear.

"We don't see anything! Bye!" I said and left the phone hanging before grabbing Chen's collar and pushing him behind the long table. "Sit down!" I mouthed while he only looked at me agape. No, I didn't do that to prove anything. I swear.

"Why do I keep hearing noises from here?" A tall male mumbled as he entered the room and darted his eyes around the place. Unfortunately, the hanging phone caught his attention and he immediately went and picked it up.

"Hello? Hello?" I heard Xiumin's voice over the phone.

"Hello." The person said and as he seemed to be engaged in the phone call, I decided to attack him without a warning. I tightened my grip on the knife since using a gun would produce enough sound to atrract all the people in this building. I looked at Chen for approval and he shook his head frantically.

"This is our chance." I mouthed while he just shook his head and tried to snatch the knife away from my hands. I disregarded his decision and approached closer to the person, on my knees. I stood up to stab him but he was quicker in turning around and pointing the gun towards my head. He tightened his grip on the trigger and pulled me away from the table.

"Too bad." The person cooed as he pointed the gun to my head. "Drop your weapon." He ordered and so I immediately dropped the knife on the floor. "So, you were the girl with him." The man said studying my appearance from head to toe.

"With whom?" I asked.

"Don't play innocent. We saw you guys together. Tell me where is Kim JongDae!" He shouted. He dragged the gun from my head down towards my cheek. "Or maybe you won't tell me until I threaten you with this." He added.

"We split up! He's probably on the 10th floor. We decided to meet at the rooftop once we're done looking for a phone." I lied. I'm not sacrificing myself to save Chen, I'm buying him time to think of a better solution. I know that this guy won't kill me until I tell him the whereabouts of Chen and probably Chen knows that as well. The man immediately called someone up and informed them about Chen being on the rooftop.

"You better be telling the truth!" He warned as he placed the gun to the back of my head and gestured me to go forward. Chen, you heard it right?! I'm counting on you.

I walked towards the direction I was guided and soon, we reached the 6th floor corridor. As the door to a room was swung open, I came face to face with a dusty and dimly lit room.

"Sit down on your knees and put your hands behind your head." The person commanded as he pushed the gun deeper into my head as if threatening me that he will shoot if I disobey him. I immediately followed the instructions and looked down on the floor as a drop of tear slid down my cheek.

"Crying won't do you any good. It's your fault to be hanging around with a purge target!" He said.

"Why do you want to kill him anyway?" I asked hoping to receive a genuine answer but to my surprise, the person just let out a dry chuckle.

"For fun?" He asked much to himself. "We thought that it would be fun to purge on a universal star. What more if we have his girlfriend here?" He said and I mentally slapped myself for even asking something like that. Obviously, this is exactly the kind of people that purge!

"What is taking them so long?!" He asked as his eyebrows knitted in confusion. He tried calling someone but the person did not seem to pick up the call. I only nibbled on my lower lip as I waited with my arms and legs trembling in fear.

The man averted his gaze from the cellphone and eyed me suspiciously. "You weren't lying, were you?" He asked.

"No, I swear!" I defended.

"Or maybe he ran away without you?" He guessed and I shook my head confidently. Chen wouldn't leave anyone alone like this! As if on cue, we heard screeching of tyres outside as if a speeding vehicle was stopped suddenly. I tried to raise my head and peep outside the window but the person warned me not to move.

I heard a thud from outside before someone was practically pushed into the door frame. I couldn't turn around and look at the person but the chuckles from the person behind me, answered my question.

It was Chen.

I looked at him from the corner of my eye and I saw him mouthing something. "Sorry." He said. Is that it? So, we're going to die today?

"So, now that we have Chen and his girlfriend here, let us begin-" The person started but was immediately interrupted by Chen.

"Who told you that she's my girlfriend? I don't even know her." Chen said and I found myself offended. He said he doesn't know me, wow! "She has nothing to do with this. Just, let her go!" Chen pleaded.

"It doesn't matter because we have plans for the both of you." The person said and I found more tears escaping my eyes. This is the last purge indeed!
