What is compassion? Compassion is when you pick up an injured kitten from the side of the road not realizing that it will become your best friend. It is loving and helping someone without expecting anything in return. Compassion is giving something without strings attached, and it's what Jesus Christ did by dying for you.

His death was the greatest show of selfless compassion known to man. He gave up everything, his family, his friends, his life, for the people that loved Him, as well as those that hated Him. He showed no favor to social status, no prejudice towards the color of a persons skin, He simply loved His people. He sacrificed the most precious gift man had, so that we could have the most precious gifts God had; forgiveness and eternal life.

Jesus didn't know how many people would except His gift, but this is possibly the most loving part of it, to Him numbers didn't matter, only you did. Even if He had been accepted by one person, and that person was you, He would have still chosen die. He would have done it because of His everlasting love for you.

Think of how many people you know who would give their life for you so that you would stay safe, and think of how many people you would willingly give your life for. In the moment you might think of many, or maybe only one. But what about your enemy or that person that you dislike? You might think that they don't deserve saving. But in God's eyes, you are equal, in the amount of saving that you need and in how much you 'deserve' it.

You see, He didn't gain anything by His sacrifice, but He chose to give everything. This is compassion in its purest form. The life and love of a perfect sacrifice, so that you would have the choice to know true life and true love.
