Chapter 29 - The Evil Were Once Good.

"We can be good, but we can turn into evil. We can be evil, but we can turn into good."

~

Right now, only the sounds of clashing plates, pots and pans, food being served, and the chatter of the maids, cooks and servants were audible in the dining room. Sitting at the head of the dining-table was Granny Lilian. On Granny Lilian's left would be Cat, and on Granny's right would be Mika.

Jason would be seated next to Mika and I'd be seated next to the down-the-stairs throwing chick monster, a.k.a. Cat. I grimaced as my back hurt from the fall. She is strong, no doubt.

"Say... Grandma. Could you please tell us about your past?" Mika asked after a few minutes of silence as she stared down at her empty plate that was soon going to be filled with fried chicken, potatoes, vegetables, sauce and what not.

An amused expression appeared on Granny Lilian's face when Mika asked the question. "Such as?" This time it was the throwing-guys-down-the-stairs monster who spoke, a.k.a. Cat. Trust me, the nickname fits her well. After all, She DID throw me down the stairs! Which hurt like damn to be honest, but who am I to be complaining?

After all, I didn't complain as I was thrown down the stairs. Plus, I pretty much took it like how a man should have taken it, being thrown down the stairs. If you get me, that is.

"You know, family.. Our moms, Adam, why Cynthia did this and that.." She (Cat) said as she picked up her fork and started digging into the delicious food the cooks, George and David, made for us. "Ah, I see." Granny Lil muttered before taking a deep breath. She said, "At the age of twenty two, I had a daughter. I was a half-blood vampire. So, I could have a child. After her birth, I became a full blood. My father being a vampire while my mother was a human. Yes, I know vampires can't exactly produce their own kind the, human way."

She said, taking a bite from her chicken using her fork. "You said vampires couldn't produce their own kind, the 'human' way. How come you're, well, errrh, let's just say, a vampire?" Cat spoke up, as she started to dig into her food. A sly smile touched Lilian's lips, as she chuckled.

"That is, the thing. A pureblood can produce, as they were born the way they were. They weren't bitten, or turned or whatever humans tell you about our kind. They are by nature, a vampire. And that was who my father was. A pureblood. The other vampires, those who were bitten, cannot produce. Do you get it? Or must I explain more?" She spoke, seriously as she ate.

"I see, Grandma. What happened to your father?" Mika asked as she took a sip from her glass, which was a crimson colour. I stifled back a laugh, they probably didn't realise what it was that they were drinking. I wouldn't blame them, if they mistook it for wine. It was in fact, blood. They needed it anyway, the less a vampire drinks, the less energy and strength they hold. "Murdered. A few days after his death, my mother willingly yet sadly took her own life. Since then, at age nine, I've lived my life as an orphan."

At nine-years-old? Huh, that's interesting. Doesn't- "At nine-years-old.. We escaped the clutches of Cynthia.. And Drake." The throwing-down-the-stairs chic- I mean Cat said.

"Who, was your daughter? Granny Lil? If I may ask that is." Jason asked, trying to change the subject. A gentle smile made it's way up onto Grandmother Lilian's face as she took a deep breath before answering his question. "Her name, I named her Sirana, an odd name. Yes, I agree, but I must say it was a mother's intuition as it fit her. She became a beautiful young woman each day that passed."

Both the girls smiled, which was nice. I must say. Finally, they have found their last living relation. It must feel nice to actually have a proper bond where the other person doesn't go all psychotic I'm-Gonna-Kill-You-You-Bitch on other, if you know what I mean.

Without knowing, a smile of my own made it's way up onto my face. As I chuckled softly, miss throwing-guys-down-the-stairs, is she turning into a big softie? I wonder. "As Sirana grew older, she eventually married. She married a half vampire, three years later after the marriage, they had two daughters and one son."

Damn, Lilian had one child. Sirana had three; One of them must be Grace. Grace had three children and here are the Psycho duo. "The two daughters were Grace and Erina. The son, his name was Alexander. Grace married a witch while Erina married a half vampire just like her mother. Alexander married a human girl. I understand if it's shocking for you girls, but Cynthia was once good."

With that, Mika coughed badly. I swore her eyes flew wide open. Surprised, Cat spat out a piece of chicken which went flying towards Mika. Mika dodged the incoming flying piece of food but it hit the wall behind her. Both the girls were coughing uncontrollably. "Oh dear," Granny Lilian muttered. "It was to be expected anyway."

Jason got up from his seat to start patting Mika's back. It only took a matter of minutes for the girls to calm down from their coughing fit. "Goodness, done with the coughing fit yet?" Lilian asked sarcastically before coughing softly into the palm of her hand.

"Hohoho! No way in .. No way Cynthia used to be good! Just no way!" Cat shouted out. As she stood up, her chair fell back and her hair hit me straight in the face in the process, causing me to cough out my food, spill my glass of water (thanks to her) and fall back. Hair in my eyes, not a fun experience. "Adam, help Sami up would you?" I heard Mika's voice say.

As I looked up, I could see her sigh and rest her face in her hands. "Catty, Catty, Catty. Look, I understand that you don't believe me. But it is true. Grace is my grandchild, alongside Alexander and Erina. She, Grace, gave birth to three daughters. Cynthia, Rosemary and Ziva." I sat down while Granny Lilian said that. But this time, three chairs away from the down-the-stairs-throwing hair whipping monster.

"Cynthia used to be kind, loving and caring. I know for a fact, just because of her reputation dissipating together along with her husband's because of you two, as she so freely said, wouldn't cause for her to be this way. I know that for sure as I have been watching her grow up ever since she wore a nappy."

When Lilian finished talking, Catty and Mika bit their underlip, their eyes grew serious (and showing seriousness) by the minute. Their hands started to tremble softly. "My dears.." Grandma Lilian said in a soft voice, looking concerningly at her two great-great granddaughters. "Do you wish for me to continue?" With that, Mika's head shot up from her hand. Her eyes flashed a crimson red.

Her lip was quivering as her eyes watered slightly. Catty remained seated in her chair, except her eyes were crimson red (as well). "Of course, we wish for you to continue! Grandma! Please.." Jason listened silently a- since when did Ragnor enter the dining room?! I didn't even seen him come in! That's weird.

"All those times... That psychotic... Woman tortured us. We're done. I'm done. Enough is enough... Granny. She's hurt us too many times for me to count. She hurt us to beyond hell and back. She gave us a reason to not believe in such a foolish thing called hope. She abused us, every inch of us." Cat whispered, her voice threatening to break at the end of her last sentence.

She hissed the word abusively, like a fire raging wildly. You could see, she was angry. But what was she angry at? For? To? That, I didn't know.

Sighing softly, Grandmother Lilian nodded. She placed her hands on the table before getting up off of her chair soon afterwards. This caused Mika and Cat to grow a little suspicious of their grandmother's action. Heading towards to what I presumed would be the grand living room, she spoke softly, not having to look over her shoulder to the girls, "Please come and follow me, dearies."

The girls only nodded, soon getting up from the table to follow their grandmother who was most likely (possibly) in the living room by then. Immediately after the girls left, the servants got to their feet and start tidying up. Jason grabbed the bowl of fried chicken nuggets, slapping away any of the servants' hands who tried to take it away, saying, "Mine."

His pupils soon transforming into splits. They (servants/cooks/maids) all backed off, away from the wolf-ish person. With that, he left the room with me following behind. Before following the wolf person, into the living room I muttered a quick apology, saying, "Sorry! He probably woke up on the wrong side of the bed today!"

Smiles cracked on every single person who was in the room with me. I left the dining-room, only for me to end up sitting on the couch listening to Lilian talk.

••••••••••••••••••••

I swore, right now. I could cry together with Cat. We were sitting on either side of our grandmother. On our grandmother's lap, there was a picture album resting peacefully, opened. On the first, second and third page, there was a picture of a much younger Granny Lilian, from when she was a baby, and until she became older. She said back then, the electronics weren't exactly used to take pictures.

You'd have someone draw you, posing that is. The following fourth, fifth and sixth pages were filled with pictures of her daughter and her, me and Cat's great grandmother; Sirana. She skipped a page, coming to a page which immediately took my breath away.

It was a picture of three smiling girls. One girl had dark-brown hair with strands of black and the darkest brown eyes. Pale skin like a porcelain doll and red lips, she was wearing a red scarlet coloured child's dress. The other had gorgeous locks of gold blonde hair. A beautiful smile plastered on her face, the corners of her pale lips were facing upwards.

Her blue orbs were shining brightly. She wore a similar dress to the girl with dark-brown hair, except for hers was a dynasty blue. Those two reminded me the most of porcelain dolls, while the last one, which was standing in the center, had curly auburn hair, pale skin, green eyes.

She wore a green dress. I could. No, my heart would tell that would be Cynthia..

As a child.

"As a child, she always loved to sing and dance, play with the dolls she'd make from leftover fabric and help the others. All three; Cynthia, Rosemary and Ziva. You could say they were the kindest children on planet Earth, but as they grew up, I did not know what went wrong with Cynthia. But, I do know, in a way, it's like..

She sold her soul to the devil.."

Grandma said, whispering the last part. My heart felt like it suddenly stopped in time.

In Cat's/Mika's mind.

What if.. If she truly did sell her soul to the devil. And became, a demon herself? What can we do? It's October. Are we, are we..

Truly going to die on the battlefield?
