Not As Planned
Rebecca's POV
I was declared this year's valedictorian of class 2015. It wasn't a surprise since I was told by several professors that they nominated me since the 10th grade. I displayed my fake sweet smile as I made my way to the podium. As I received the award, "She's all mine!" tapped my eardrums and I rolled my eyes since I knew the culprit was my boyfriend, Jerome. "Better be careful. He's totally hung up on you." The patron who issued the awards warned me. It's not the first nor second time I've got that warning. I collected the golden trophy and certificate and turned on my heel towards my chair but then my name pounded through the speakers and into my ears again. I swear after this ceremony I am going to have some sort of hearing disorders. I headed towards the aisle for the second time but then my name was bellowed three more times. "Congratulations! You're persistently loved at this school." The patron congratulated me again but it seemed as if he was flirting. I threw up a little in my mouth. Why do I attract so many pedophiles? I asked myself. Don't you see I have a pedophile in the audience going crazy over me already? I asked him in my head.
"Oh my God!" "I think I'm going to cry!" "That is so romantic!" I heard murmurs from across the arena. "Rebecca!" I heard my best friend, Roxan shrieked and I thought my eardrums are bleeding. "Shhhh. Rox I'm trying to collect my award here." I hissed at her. I tried to take the award but the patron held onto it tightly. I looked up at him and he was frozen in his spot with his mouth agape. He was gawking at something behind me. I turned around to discover Jerome knelt down unto the aisle with an opened jewelry box held in his left hand. there was an exquisite, expensive, drooling wedding ring inside. It appeared to be rubric sapphire but was also a diamond with silver crystals engraved on it. It was the most astonishing object ever met my eyes. His brown eyes were fixed with mine. He didn't even blink once. He was so serious although he had a little smile plastered onto his lips. I shifted my gaze from him and unto the crowd on the bleachers who were constantly at awe. There was a banner held up with air balloons and into the sky. I looked closely and it read 'Will You Marry Me, Rebecca?' I got dizzy. My head felt light. My body became too heavy to be supported by my feet. Everything suddenly went dark as I felt even more weary. "Rebecca!" I herd the culprit screamed after me as I fell to the ground.
