Alternate Ending
AUTHOR'S NOTE- For my birthday, my good friend, killboredomdead, took most of my unfinished stories and finished them how she thought they would. She and her friend, Bob, did it together. Hope you enjoy! -Anna
I feel the sting on my arm, and I wince at the pain. Than, I am suddenly relieved of this sting when a shadow passes over me.
It's Apollo...
And he's SHIRTLESS.
"Apollo!" Athena proclaims, she is clearly as suprised as I am, not just because he's half naked. "Why do you abandon your garments? I surely see no reason for this." (We've been reading a little too much Shakespheare. ;-)) She gestures to shirtless Apollo. Hdy that's got a nice ring to it, Dhirtless Apollo, Shirtless Apollo.
I like it!
Than he turns, his body exposed to me, his muscles are tight, hard, and carved like stone, he is perfect, and he is a God.
"Of course he can, remember Zues's 3008th birthday, he stripped naked, and no one seemed to care then. We should be allowed to show some skin every now and than. Really Athena, loosen your corset." Artemis says as she leans up against a tree and tugs on the strings of her bow.
"Thank you, sis, besides," Apollo begins, and he pauses looking down at his exposed torso. I can't help but look as well. "I think my tummy is pleasing to the eye don't you?" Apollo aks no one in particular as he pokes his belly button repetitively. No argument there.
"Let's forget we have a prophet amongst us." Athena announces, her striking eyes feel like they are slithering across my body. I can tell before she's finished her sweep, that she doesn't like what she sees. "Or at least, apart of one." She adds on. Dang, her and her goddess remarks I think I'd rather have endured the Trackers' version of torture, instead of this verbal madness.
"Well I've been working out." Apollo says, and all eyes turn to him, and his masterpiece of a body.
"Thank you, Apollo, for that useless piece of information. What we really need is the next step, and not from him. Last time he was in charge of a female prophet he slept with her." Artemis smiles as she cocks an arrow into her bow.
"Nah-ah" Apollo shakes his head, and takes a step towards Artemis.
"Did to." Artemis counters, taking a step forward as well.
"Shut it, both of you." Athena's outstretced cobra hands seem to hiss before our eyes, and the two gods step down from their argument.
"I say we take her to Mount Olympus." Apollo states, holding a single finger in the air, his eyes gazing up at the stars.
"Really genius?" Artemis snorts, as she looks off into the woods.
"Fine, let's go." Athena says, and with a slithervof her tongue and a stomp of her foot we travel to Mount Olympus. I xan almost feel the aura of the gods, that's how I know its Mount Olympus. But it's not a mountain.
It's a dark cave.
This a dark cave.
"This is Mount Olympus?...I thought it be...Mountanous." I ask incredvously as I stare at the pool of rainwater coming in from a crack in the ceiling and at the darkness that surrounds us.
"Temp. Mount Olympus. The real one is under renovations. Zues and Posiedon met for the first time in 300 years up there, not a happy reunion. It'll take a few years to clean up that mess." Artemis says, as she places her bow on her back.
"Oh." Is all I say, still stunned at the portaling to the damp cave.
"I'd never fight with Potates, and I've never worn closed toed shoes." Apollo declares into my ear. I jump at his sudden closeness, and I turn to stare at him.
"Okay?" I respond before he walks past me into the dark cave further.
"Ever since his Golden Horses died, he just hasn't been the same. Spends all his time on the sun, working out, and crying. Depression hits the Gods for years." Artemis clarifies to me, and I nod my head as we follow Athena, and Apollo deeper into the temp. Mt. Olympus.
The dark narrow cave lightens slightly as it opens into a big cavern, with sunlight beaming down from a hole in the cave ceiling.
It's a volcano.
And...this place is a circus.
I'm not joking, it's literally a circus, there's elephants, and clowns, and trapeze artists, I watch as one of the trapeezest falls, there is no nef at the bottom, only hungry crocidiles.
I flinch away from the screams of the fallen trapeezest, and find myself i the arms of Apollo.
"Sup girl?" Apollo croons, and he waggles his eyebrows, and I push out of his hold uncomfortably. He shrugs his shoulders.
We pass some circus horses. Apollo goes nuts.
"Horseys!" He cries out like a little girl. Then he runs over to them, and begins stroking their muzzle lovingly. Suddenly, the two horses turn golden and shirtless Apollo smiles wider, his teeth are brighter than the sun. "It's not the same, but it'll do." He mubles.
"Yo As*lo!" Artemis calls out to Apollo, who looks up. "We got somewhere to be." Apollo nods his head, and runs towards us with all his perfection.
"As*lo?" I question, looking at Artemis, she shrugs.
"After so many milleniums, you run out of good nicknames." We laugh as we continue to wade through the circus. "The Gods like entertainment so they hired the circus." Artemis tells me, I nod, makes sense. We end up down another dark hallway, and Athena turns to face us.
"Okay, it's safe to talk here." She looks around the small cavern, and I just stare, totally confused, and scared.
"But what if you think it's safe here because you want it to be, but really it's not safe, and the whole purpose is to make you feel safe, and you're not safe in a safe environment?" Apollo points his finger at Athena, who remains emotionless. I look over at Artemis, she's rolling her eyes, and twirling her finger by her head, mouthing the word "crazy".
"Okay, so she's a prophet, and so she is also the one who has to stop the Furies and save us all." Athena clarifes, looking at me and then the others.
"Well we're screwed than." A voice says from the shadows, and a man appears, clearly another god, but he's dressed in molten lava, it sits molded against his body.
"Vulcan?" Athena says, caught off guard. "I wasn't aware of your return." For a goddess she seems to be suprised often.
"Well I'm back suckers, and all I want is a piece of the Propeht's hair. It's fiery and magical, and will go great with my colection." Vulcan says pointing at me. I instinctively touch my hair.
"No." Apollo takes a step forward. "My hair." I shake my head at Apollo, losing those horses really did mess him up.
"You dare refuse me, for Vulcan does not do rejection." Vulcan growls toward the four of us.
"Well deal with it Homie, cause you just got burned. You guys get it, because Apollo,...he's god of...you know...never mind." Apollo gives Artemis a high five.
"One-" Vulcan says.
"No." Apollo says, Vulcan stares at him, before he goes again.
"One-"
"No." Apollo laughs as ue shakes his head and licks the back of his hand.
"One more-"
"Nah brah!" Apollo shouts, before he sits on the ground and rolls onto his back. "Roadkill!" Apollo lays flat out and remains motionless.
"That's it!" Vulcan screams, and it feels like the entire cave shakes. "I've had it with Gods, Goddessess, and Mount Olympus. Theropy isn't working, drugs aren't working. The only thing thats works is the feeling of burning, of fire, of LAVA!!!!!"
That's when the ground beneath us crackles and molten lava pours out. I scream as the lava consumes my feet, than y waist, and I hear the laughter of shirtless Apollo as he burns as well.
Apparently Vulcan has created this special lava, that kills even the mighty Gods, including himself.
I let my life flash before my eyes and my final thought.
I should have kissed Daniel Donstre in the 6th grade.
And if anyone should ever be put into my situation, ever, just give the Kamikaze God a lock of your freaking hair.
