Chapter Twenty-Four

I stepped out of the car, the cold air hit my bare skin, I slightly shuddered. I turned to thank the person who opened my door, I saw a sophisticated man. Dark blonde hair, slight stubble on his face. His jaw was sharp, as if it was a jaw of a model. His eyes were grey with a hint of blue.

He gave me a warm friendly smile, before I could return the favour, Alexander barged in between us.

"Shall we?" Alexander asked while glaring at him.

I snorted under my breath, as it was evident that Alexander was jealous.

When I got a better look at the venue, my eyes were welcomed to a flash of lights. I felt dazzled looking at the magnificent place.

We walked up a set of stairs, reminding me of the stairs Cinderella ran down. When we reached to the top, there was a path that lead to the entrance of the venue. On both sides of the path, green grass and a range of flowers, created a warm mixture of colours. Giving a natural feel to the place.

The building was a contrast between old and new. The walls were made up of grey bricks, slightly uneven in places. In some places on the wall was green moss. The exterior reminded me of a medieval castle. The windows were large, with a white boarder. At the top, the glass had a unique flower design.

"You know," Alexander said snapping me out of gazing at the building, "If you want to convince people you're my wife, you need to come closer."

Before I could acknowledge and respond to his words, he placed his hand on my hips, pulling me closer. I stumbled, which forced me to land my hand on his chest. Tightly gripping my waist and engulfing me with his eyes, a warm feeling in my body returned.

Standing very close together, as if we fit like a jigsaw, we entered the lavish venue. A wave of lights, music, laughter and chatter hit my eyes and ears; as if my senses were working to their full capabilities.

Inside, there was a mixture of white, gold and cream, that created the essence of this room. The floor was made up of beige coloured tiles, in the shape of diamonds. In the middle of each shape, was a small encrusted silver gem. The walls that held the room together, were white, with very unique designs and patterns in gold. Around midway hanging on the walls, were flowers. The flowers were made up of white lilies, surrounded by dark green leaves. Next to the flowers, the walls were illuminated, creating a warm orange hue.

After taking my time to appreciate the beauty of the room, I looked around to see many people dressed elegantly. I witnessed the most glamorous dresses, worn by the most gorgeous women.

I started to feel out of place. People here were millionaires and billionaires, then there was me; An assistant.

A waiter, dressed in a black and white butler suit, approached us and offered champagne. I took the light, bubbly drink. Taking a sip, the subtle taste of orange-zest and cherry danced on my tastebuds.

"So, this Mrs Bingham, where is she?" I whispered to Alexander whilst looking around the room to determine who she was.

"You'll know it's Mrs Bingham, she's-"

Alexander didn't get a chance to finish his sentence, he was interrupted by a high-pitched voice. "Mr Alexander Pierce! It's been a while since I've seen your handsome face!"

I looked around to follow where the voice boomed from. Across the room I saw a tall, broad woman. Dressed in a long black, sleeveless dress. Her dress was so tight, it pushed her breast high, making it difficult to look elsewhere. She had shoulder length, dark brown hair. Thin eyebrows, short nose, her lips were quite full, her checks were round as a ball. She came striding our way, behind her was a young girl, probably around the same age as me.

When she finally stood in front of us, she overpowered us with her tall, broad stance.

"Darling! I'm so glad you made it!" She shrieked, leaning towards Alexander giving him an air kiss.

I internally rolled my eyes at how over the top she was.

"Mrs Bingham, it's lovely to see you to," Alexander respectfully replied.

"Bethany. Say hello to Alexander," she growled between her teeth, she pushed Bethany forward, causing her to stumble in front of us.

"Hello." She said in a quite mouse like voice. She lifted her head up, only to quickly look towards the floor again.

I was dumbfounded at how she was the daughter to this very loud and squeaky woman. Bethany was tall like her mother, but very slim and slender. She had long, dark brown hair, a full fringe, covering her forehead. Her brows were bushy, she had a short nose like her mother and her lips were long and thin.

I waited to be acknowledged, but Mrs Bingham ignored me, making me feel invisible.

"Mrs Bingham, have you met my wife?" Alexander asked, holding his hand out towards me.

She finally turned her head towards me, but the look on her face, made it seem as if someone slapped her. Her bubbly demeanour seemed like it fizzled out.

"Your wife?" She questioned, arching her brows up at me.

"Hello," I let out, ignoring her puzzlement, "I'm Lou- Elizabeth!" My heart jerked at my almost stupid blunder.

"Elizabeth, it's lovely to meet you," She beamed, as if she was being forced to say it, "Alexander, you never mentioned you were married?"

"It all happened very quick, we had a private ceremony," Alexander cheekily grinned. I was like he was believing his own lies.

"Where did you get married?" She enquired, gazing at us both.

"London"

"Australia"

I screamed on the inside. How stupid must that have sounded, I internally groaned thinking we messed up.

"We had the official ceremony in London, and we held a wedding party in Australia, where my mum and sister are." Alexander quickly added, saving our back.

"Well. This is amazing. This calls for a celebration!" Mrs Bingham bellowed. She grabbed us both, leading us towards the bar area. My glass is taken away from me, and I was given a new one.

"To the happy couple. Mr and Mrs Pierce." She announced over the chatter of people. She raised her glass, people around stopped to listen, and we all followed, raising our glasses.

I was taken back at how easy it was to convince her we were married.

"Darlings. You have to tell me everything. I mean look at you guys, you look adorable," she gushed, with her dark brown eyes shooting back and forth between us.

My eyes widened, nervously, I took a sip from my drink. The nerves were creeping in. We didn't even come up with a story, I started to squirm with anxiousness.

"Tell me about the proposal," Mrs Bingham sheepishly asked.

"Elizabeth babe, you can tell the story of how I proposed," Alexander cheekily grinned while taking a sip of his drink.

I clenched my jaws, flaring my nostrils, shooting an annoyed look at Alexander. I could have throttle him right there for pushing me in the deep end. I cleared my throat, looking back at everyone who was waiting for me.

"Um, well, where do I begin," I nervously said, "Well... I went to Alexander's place one day, when I went inside the place was decorated ever so beautiful. White and red petals on the floor. Candles on the floor, leading to a table. I read the note on the table and it was like treasure hunt. Alexander wrote me a riddle, I had to go to the place where we first met. Which was at a club-"

"You met at a club?" Mrs Bingham warily asked, narrowing her eyes.

"Um... Yes, we did," I nodded, "When I went to the club, I was given another note. Telling me to go to our first date. Which was... Um... The Italian Rooftop restaurant."

I took a sip from my champagne; my hands were sweaty and clammy. I cleared my throat once again, hoping it gave me time to think.

How on earth will I finish this story.

"Then when I arrived at the restaurant, I was given another note. Telling me to go where we had our first kiss. Which was the park. When I get to the park, I see Alexander, surrounded by flowers waiting for me."

Everyone smiled in admiration, they 'ooo' and 'ahhh'. Mrs Bingham looked like she believed it, her eyes were glistening and she was pouting her lips.

"That just warmed my heart," she exclaimed, "Now you need to tell us about your wedding."

"Alexander. Why don't you tell everyone about our wedding?" I quickly said, I cheekily grinned back at Alexander, returning the favour.

"Of course," Alexander smugly replied, "We had a beautiful ceremony at Kingscliff beach, New South Wales. Sun shining down on us, the sand beneath our feet, it was perfect. We had white tables and chairs, dressed in pastel pink table clothes, white roses in the middle. We made our vows in front of our friends and family. Feasted on the most delicious food. Then we had the afterparty where we had our first dance, to Ed Sheehan's song, Thinking Out Loud."

My mouth hung open. I was shocked at how easily he came up with the lie. The way he said it, I almost believed it. I looked around the room, everyone was giving us puppy-dog eyes. I felt relived, everyone believed it.

"You guys are the cutest." Mrs Bingham gushed, "Now I want to see your first dance. Everyone make room for Alexander and Elizabeth; they are going to show us their first dance. Someone play Ed Sheeran's song!"

I spluttered on my champagne, causing me to cough. My heart sank all the way to the pit of my stomach. I suddenly felt sick. I turned to Alexander giving him a concerned look. Without saying a word, he took my hand into his. I then realised we were standing in the middle of the room, people surrounded us.

"Shit." I muttered to myself. My heart was thumping in my chest.

Alexander leaned his head towards my ear, he whispered, "Just follow my lead."

He then slid his hand around the back of my waist. His hand firmly gripped the side, sending a bolt of warmth in my body. Pulling me closer to him, so that our chests met. He waved his eyes for me to place my hand around the back of his neck. I did just that, he sucked his breath as I touched his neck. He entwined his other hand with mine, the touch between our hands felt like a fire starting up. The heat traveled up my arm and around my body. I was forced to stare into his eyes.

The music began and Alexander inched his face closer to mine. I could feel his breath land on my face, I closed my eyes for a moment to feel the sensation of his breath. He slowly stepped back, making me follow. He stepped towards to the side and then towards me, my feet automatically mirrored his movements. It was like we had danced together before. Our feet were in sync, we were now gliding across the floor like we were floating on air.

All of a sudden, Alexander loosened his grip. At first it felt like I was going fall, but then as my arm extended, I was saved by Alexander's strong hold. He pulled me back, causing me to twirl into his body. His arm wrapped across the front of my body; my back was flushed against his front. Flashbacks entered my mind to when we were dancing in the club. It was almost the same, only difference was, we were elegantly dancing.

He spun me around, so that I was facing him again. Once again, I had butterflies in my stomach. So many sensations were floating around my body. His touch made me melt in his arms. Heat rose to the edge of my skin, causing me to hitch my breath. I couldn't look away from his dazzling eyes. I was lost in his world. We slowly leaned in closer, our lips brush past each other.

I jolted myself away from Alexander. The music continued to play, I looked around the room. Everyone seemed like they had fallen in love with us.

"I need some air," I breathlessly let out. I hastily walked towards the exit. When I got outside, the cold air hit my skin, causing the hairs on my arm to stand up. I felt out of breath. The cold air wasn't helping as my breathing sped up.

A jacket was placed around me, I jumped at the feeling and stayed still. I felt Alexander's presence behind me. Why did he make me feel like this? Our dance felt so exhilarating, being within his touch again felt so good, it made me feel safe.

The warmth of Alexander's breath was trickling onto the back of my neck. He was very close. My body forced to turn around, only to find Alexander in close proximity to my face.

He cupped my face with his strong hold. Placing my hand on his wrists, wanting him to stay there. He pressed his forehead onto mine, he then ran his thumb over my lips. I subtly let out a slight gasp.

"Alexander," I let out in a hoarse whisper.

"Tell me no and I will back away," he seductively whispered back.

I wanted to pull away, but all the nerves in my body were not allowing me to. Our lips were hovering over each other. Slowly it turned into a kiss. Our lips find their way together, I pulled myself away for a mere second, only to find our them crashing back together. Devouring each other. It was like the build up since sleeping together, exploded out of us like fireworks.

Remembering the taste of his lips, brought back the beautiful memories of our night together. Our kiss was getting quicker and deeper. It took all my strength to pull away from him, when I did, my chest was heaving, I was out of breath from all the passion.

"I need to go home," I breathlessly let out, still lost in the pool of Alexander's warm eyes, "Please take me home."

Before my body could force itself back into Alexander's hold, I walked away. There were no words to describe the effect Alexander had on me. I was guilt ridden for succumbing to my pleasure, but there was not a chance in sight that could have stopped me.

Why was Alexander making me feel like this...

A/N

Mrs Bingham is quite the character... but their made up stories is so heartwarming and almost believable, if only it were true...

And their dance!! Their chemistry! Their kiss! They can't stay away from each other, they clearly want each other but Louisa is confused...
