Chapter Twenty-Five

As time passed, I decided to keep my distance from Alexander. I knew how he made me feel, the effect he had on me, I couldn't put it to words. Deep down it pained me, I wanted his warm touch all over me. I wanted his seductive voice echoing in my ears. I knew I had to put a stop to it.

When Alexander approached me, I made sure our eye contact was minimal. If I looked at him for longer than needed, his eyes would have dragged me in. I would have vanish in those dreamy eyes.

Attending meetings with him didn't make it any easier. Often, we would sit next to each other, our thighs would brush past each other. I would then find myself gritting my teeth, making sure them damn butterflies didn't flutter about.

Every morning, both Calum and I got ready for work. I couldn't help but feel proud that Calum was going to work. Something that I had always wanted.

I stared in the mirror while brushing my teeth. I scanned my body over and over again, thinking how Alexander had touched almost every section of my body. It was like the places he touched were glowing.

No, I can't think like this.

I was due to get married in four weeks. Calum was the one I needed to think about.

"Hey babe," Calum said as he enters the bathroom, "I'm going to head off now, so I'll see you later?"

Quickly rinsing my mouth of the toothpaste, I go to Calum, giving him a peck on the lips. Still nothing. I pecked him a few more times.

Where was the warm feeling? Why am I not electrified by kissing him?

"Babe? What are you doing?" Calum chuckled.

"Nothing. Can't I kiss my fiancé?" I jokingly replied.

Calum placed his hands on my cheeks, he kissed my forehead, my nose and then my lips. I gave him a loving and warm smile.

"See you later," he whispered before leaving the room.

The smile slowly faded away from my lips. I still felt nothing. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath, lifted my head up and exhaled out. I loved Calum, so why did I feel like a piece was missing. As if I wasn't able to complete the puzzle. Right now, the puzzle remained unsolved and I was determined to find the missing piece to complete my love for Calum.

Before going into work, I made a quick pit stop at Jo's cafe. I needed the rich, aromatic taste of coffee to brighten up the morning.

I entered the cafe to be welcomed by the familiar scent of coffee. The undertones of caramel and cinnamon, mixed with coffee glided its way to my nose. I inhaled taking in every aspect of the smell.

Whilst I was waiting for my drink, I sat on one of the stools near the window. Admiring the morning rush outside. I looked far across the street and did a double take. I focused my eyes when I saw Alexander with a female. He was chatting and laughing away with the mysterious woman. I stared at the woman to get a better look at her.

She was breathtakingly beautiful and sophisticated. Tall and slim, she effortlessly moved her hands around while she talked. She had light brown, wavy hair, that fell just below her shoulders. Lovely naturally arched shaped brows, slender eyes, long fluttery lashes. Her nose was long and slim, with a nose ring to compliment it. Her natural lips were full and a light pink colour. A razor-sharp jaw made her look like a beautiful model.

Every time she laughed; she would place her hand on Alexander's arms. Playfully pushing him. I couldn't help but form my hands to a fist. I pressed my lips flat, clenching my teeth. I felt like if I stared at her long enough, I would have been able to burn a hole through her head.

What was so funny between them, that she just had to flick her hair back, and hold Alexander's arms. They then proceed to walk, with the mystery women linked to Alexander's arms.

Where are they going? Why am I so bothered?

Something about that woman irked me.

"Caramel latte?" The barrister called.

I took my drink, without saying thank you, I left the cafe. I looked down the street to see if I could spot Alexander and the mystery women. They were long gone.

"Fuck sake," I muttered under my breath. Annoyingly I stormed back to the office, with the image of her laughing and touching Alexander.

Before going to up, I paid Sarah a visit. When I approached her, she was busy on a call. Whilst talking she acknowledged and waved at me. I pondered around waiting for her to finish the call.

Sarah finally ended her call. "Hey stranger. How are you?"

"Fine," I briefly replied.

"What's wrong?" Sarah questioned as she sensed my off mood.

"Nothing."

She turned her head to the side, giving me a disapproving look. She kept staring at me till I gave in.

"I saw Alexander, with this women." I rolled my eyes.

"And?" Sarah responded looking ever so confused.

"She was bloody gorgeous!" I exclaimed throwing my hands around, careful not to spill my coffee, "She was so beautiful, but the way she was exaggerating her laughs and purposely holding Alexander's arms. I mean it's ridiculous."

Sarah snorted while chuckling. "So? That was probably his date, or even his girlfriend."

"Oh please." I scoffed, "Alexander doesn't have a girlfriend."

"How do you know? She's probably new on the scene." Sarah shrugged her shoulders, bouncing her eyebrows up and down.

"She can't be-"

"Why not?" Sarah butted in, "What's it to you anyway?"

"Nothing, it's just... it's just." I couldn't find the words to finish what I wanted to say.

Sarah sniffed sarcastically. "Do you smell that? I smell jealousy."

I froze right in front of Sarah, giving her a disgusted look. What the hell did she just say?

"Jealousy?" I shouted, "I am not jealous."

"Really? I think you are," Sarah pouted her lips, scrunching her nose.

I let out an annoyed sigh. Instead of arguing back, I let out a grunt, spinning around walking away from Sarah. I heard Sarah chuck in the back.

When I get to my office, without thinking I entered Alexander's room. I come to a standstill when I see her. Sitting in the chair opposite Alexander. She turned around, damn, she was gorgeous up close. She smiled at me, showing her dazzling straight, white teeth.

"Louisa, is there something you need?" Alexander asked, leaning back in his chair.

I smiled awkwardly. "Um, it can wait. Sorry to bother you."

I closed the door behind me, slamming my coffee on the table, causing it to spill slightly.

What the hell was she doing here?

If only I could have dragged her by her luscious hair and kicked her out the office.

An hour had passed, they were still in the office. What were they even talking about? If it was business, surely, I should have been in there. I creeped over to the door, leaning my ear. Suddenly the door opened and I fell slightly into Alexander's arm. I quickly backed away before I could feel anything from his touch.

"Sorry! I was just going to check if you needed anything," I awkwardly said, forcing myself to smile.

"It's fine," Alexander replied in his warm friendly tone and the turned to the woman, "So I'll see you later tonight?"

The mystery women, walked out the office. Striding like she owned the place. I scoffed at her, subtly rolling my eyes.

"Yes, I'll see you later Alex!" She said in a warm soft angelic voice.

"I'll see you later Alex!" I mimicked her in my head. Alex? Was she that special to address him by his short name?

She hugged him, I darted my eyes elsewhere feeling awkward witnessing their hug.

"Bye Louisa," she said waving at me.

I quickly smiled, making sure I wasn't giving her a dirty look, I wasn't able to process any words, I waved back giving a sarcastic smile. Finally, she was gone.

"See you later? Where are you going?" I questioned sternly.

"To the Italian rooftop restaurant, is there a problem?" Alexander blankly replied.

I shrugged my shoulders as if I didn't care. "Hmm, interesting. Is this your first date?"

"What?" Alexander exclaimed, jerking his head back, "Date? Louisa, who do you think that was?"

Alexander came closer, his face looked puzzled. One eyebrow up and his head slightly tilted. Waiting for me to give him a reply.

"I don't know?" I replied waving my hands, "New girlfriend, old flame."

Alexander bursted out laughing. Grabbing hold his chest, trying to stop himself from laughing too much.

"That's Ashley." Alexander managed to say in between his laughter.

"Ashley?" I questioned, "I don't even- Oh! Ashley? As in Ashley Pierce? Your sister?" I said in a horrified tone.

"Yes, that's my sister." Alexander continued howling with laughter, "She flew in from Australia this morning, surprising me."

I wanted the ground to swallow me up and take me away. I was absolutely mortified. I felt like I had the word idiot, stamped on my forehead. I squinted my eyes shut, hoping to hide the embarrassment. I felt my face burn and glow red with embarrassment.

When I opened my eyes, I jumped slightly at the sight of Alexander close to my face. He finally stopped laughing, his lips now curled in to a devious grin.

"Were you jealous, Miss Watts?" Alexander whispered in a low voice. He slowly pushed my hair behind my ear, his fingers travelling behind my ears, and down my neck.

I sucked the air between my teeth, making sure that my legs didn't give way, by the touch of Alexander's electrifying feel. I wasn't going to let him get to me like this. I straightened my posture, which enabled me to stand a few inches taller. I looked him dead in the eyes, showing that he couldn't make me melt with the touch of his fingers.

"Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't, you'll never know," I seductively responded. I ensured I didn't break away from his eyes.

I felt brave and didn't know why this sudden burst of confidence coursed through my veins. I wasn't finished making him hot under the collar. I purposely dropped my phone on the floor.

"Oops," I let out, maintaining eye contact. The corner of my mouth twitched into a smirk.

I kneeled down to get my phone. Whilst getting up, I grabbed hold of Alexander's thigh, and turned my head up to meet his eyes. I saw him looking down on to me. As I slowly got up, still holding onto his thigh, I felt him get tense. His muscles felt rigid. He took a sharp breath in, clenching his jaws.

I was howling with laughter on the inside. I knew I shouldn't have doing it, but something urged me to tease him.

"Now if you don't mind, I have work to do," I turned around, flicking my hair in his face. Without acknowledging him, I take a seat in my chair and started to type away on my computer.

Alexander stormed to the door and pulled it wide open, but didn't move. He stood there, looking far into the distance. I still didn't pay him any attention.

I moved my eyes to his direction; he let go of the door and marched over to me. In a quick, swift move, he spun my chair around. I got a rush of wind glide past me. Not giving me time to react to the sudden movement, Alexander crashed his lips on mine. He consumed my lips like a hungry animal. He abruptly stopped, he was out of breath. When he deeply exhaled, his hot breath landed on my face, sending a wave of currents through my body.

"Did you really think you could do all that, only for me to not react to it," he breathlessly let out. Brushing my lips with his thumb. He walked away and made his exit.

"Oh and by the way, you look cute when you're jealous." He winked at me and left the room without giving me another look.

The minute he left, I let out all my breath as if my life depended on it. That felt exhilarating. The power and passion in his eyes. It looked as if he was a hungry lion, waiting for his prey.

With my legs shaky like jelly, I walked to the window. Opening it up to allow the fresh air to cool me down. Ever aspect of that moment felt good, I shouldn't not have enjoyed it, but I did.
