Part 6
-Your Pov-
Walking with Weiss, wave after wave of nostalgia hits you. She looks as good as she did when you were kids, if not better. Being with her still gave you the same feelings as when you were kids, and she was still very much the same person as when you were kids. Rougher around the edges, but with one of, if not the biggest heart when you got around it. Seeing her again has been the most emotional roller-coaster. But mostly, you're so happy to know that it wasn't your fault that you and Weiss had drifted apart. And, you were so happy to know that she wanted to be back in touch with you, just as much as you had missed her.
The two of you make your way to the auditorium, and listen as Ozpin gives a speech. When it ends, Weiss has left to go argue with the girl from earlier who caused the Dust explosion. When the girl tries frantically to apologize, Weiss gives her a book, which makes you laugh. The title of the book is, " Dust for Dummies and Other Inadequate Individuals." You have a copy of that at home, having made a similar explosion to what the girl has when you were younger.
-Flashback-
You and Weiss sit around, talking about weapons you want when you do become huntsman. " I want a really cool sword," you tell her, mimicking slashes with your hands. " A really heavy one that can kill any Grimm with one hit!"
She laughs, and you show her a crayon drawing of the sword you had in mind. " (y/n), that sword is taller than you," she chuckles. " Sure, you're strong, but there's no way you'll be able to use something like that."
When she says this, you give the girl an irritated glare, although it's more playful than anything else. " Oh yeah Weiss Cream? Then what weapon do you wanna use when you become a huntress?"
Weiss gives you a really big smile, and pulls out a blue print of a rapier. " My family is paying to have something like this made for me! It has different chambers for types of Dust, and other different features! I want it to be just as cool as the one my older sister uses!"
You nod, and give a small smile when you see how excited your best friend is. She gets even more excited when she pulls out different crystals. " And look! My parents gave me some different types of Dust! My favorite is this Ice one! It's so pretty!"
On instinct, you grab a red Dust crystal, and start tossing it up and down. It feels like it's just the right weight, and you know this is a Fire Dust crystal. " Hey, don't do that," says Weiss. " That's really unsafe."
Looking at her to argue that you can manage, you miss the crystal in the toss. Both of your eyes widen as the crystal hits the ground and bursts into flames. The two of you start to panic, and then she uses a Water Dust crystal to put it out. Then, she turns to glare at you. You frantically apologize to her, and she ends up rolling her eyes. " It's fine I guess. Neither of us got hurt. But, because of this, I want you to read this."
She hands you a book, and you narrow your eyes in confusion. " Dust For Dummies and Other Inadequate Individuals?" She nods at you, and assures you she doesn't think you're dumb, but wants you to read it and be more careful in the first place.
-Present Day-
" Yeah we can be friends," Weiss tells the girl sarcastically. " And we can get our nails done, and then go shopping. Ooh, and gossip about cute boys like the tall blonde over there," she says, pointing at the kid who threw up on the Bullhead. Even though she's being sarcastic, some part of you can't help but be irritated. Are you....jealous? Rolling your eyes, you tell yourself that you can't possibly be.
That night, you sit with Weiss in the ballroom. She unpacks her night clothes, and then goes to the bathroom to change. You also change into your pajamas, which are really just sweatpants and a tank-top. She comes back, and stares at you, presumably at your scars which you got from training accidents. In the dimmer light of the room, you notice she also has a scar that runs through an eye. The two of you awkwardly break eye contact, and continue to unpack your things.
You pull out the framed picture of you dancing with her, and she notices it. Trying to hide it, you pull out one of your blankets, and she reaches for the picture. Reluctantly, you hand it to her, and she inspects it. When she finishes, she hands it back, and gives you a small smile. " I can't believe you still have this," she says.
" You can thank my mom for that. When we moved, I didn't exactly take the best care of it. But, she knew how important you were to me, and made sure I held onto it and took better care of it," you admit. She smiles, and then starts digging in her bag.
" Klaus found this for me. He had been holding onto it to make sure father couldn't find out and take it away from me." Eventually, she finds a framed picture and then hands it to you. Taking it, you see the elementary aged you and Weiss at the entrance of the dance.
" Wow," you say. She nods, and muses wistfully about how long ago that was. " Do you remember when you and I started dancing together, and then you had to teach me how to slow-dance?"
She nods. " That was a good night," she says, and you find yourself agreeing. " I remember when you came up to me and asked me, all red, nervous and bouncing with nervous energy. Such a far cry from the confident guy you were back then."
Shaking your head, you give a smile. Even if she is making fun of you, it's so good to have her back in your life.
