Part 34

-Your Pov-

You walked down with Weiss to the communications tower. You could tell she was nervous, so you gave her hand a soft, but reassuring squeeze. She smiled at you, and the two of you boarded the elevator. " Please don't say much to him," she says. " I don't want him to be any angrier than he already is going to be. I just want you to stay by my side. I couldn't face him by myself right now."

Nodding, the elevator keeps going up. " Thank you for this," she says softly. " I really appreciate you always being there for me." You tell her it isn't a problem, and the elevator finally stops. She kisses you on the cheek before the doors open. " I love you (y/n)," she says.

Smiling, you plant a kiss on her forehead. " I love you too Weiss." She lets go of your hand reluctantly, and then goes to one of the computers. She pulls down two chair, and puts in the number for the Schnee mansion. It takes a few minutes, but eventually, her father answers.

" Ah, Weiss," he says. " I see you received my request to talk. And I also see you brought someone with you. Who is this?"

" Father, this is (y/n). He's also attending Beacon as a huntsman in training. He's become a very close friend of mine." You wince slightly at her choice of the word friend, but at the same time you get exactly why she used it.

" Yes, I remember specifically asking you to stop spending time with him when you were younger. And nothing has changed since then. Tell me, why is it that you chose to ignore me? Pictures of the two of you are circulating, and the press is beginning to wonder if the two of you are together."

Weiss stutters for a few seconds, before answering. " Our teams have the dorm right next to each other. It would be impossible for us to avoid interaction, especially given the number of classes we have together."

His brows furrow. " Understandable enough I suppose." On his scroll, he pulls up pictures of you dancing with Weiss, and some of the dates you had been on. " Now tell me, what is the meaning of these?"

She hesitates, and you know why. Revealing her relationship with you would only make this infinitely worse. For all their flaws, he was still family for Weiss, and that meant a lot to her. On the other hand, you wanted to set this guy on fire. However, you knew Weiss wouldn't want you to, and so you did your best to stay calm.

" When we met up again, we wanted to get caught up. It had been years since we had seen each other, and so there was a lot to talk about," says Weiss. " And as for the dance, I went with him. Nothing inappropriate happened between us father."

" Stupid girl," he says, and you seethe with rage. " What did I tell you back then? He's nothing more than a brute. Being with him damages the reputation of the Schnee family. Like I told you before, cut ties with him."

The two of them argue for awhile, and you do your best to stay out of the argument. But, when Jacques says," You failed me as a daughter," your heart explodes with anger. Weiss winces, and then you stand up.

" No, she didn't fail you as a daughter," you tell him, and he shoots a glare at you. " You failed her as a father." His glare intensifies, and you're sure it would kill you if he had that sort of power. But, for all his pompous, arrogant behavior, Jacques is just a man.

" What was that," he says, trying his best to keep his voice level. " Perhaps I didn't hear you right. Would you like a chance to rephrase that?"

You shake your head. " I'll repeat it though. You failed Weiss as a father." He seethes by this point, and you see his fists clench and unclench.

" Boy, you have no idea how difficult it is to raise a child," he says. " I have done the best I could to do right by Weiss. You could never understand the sacrifices I have made for her, and all of my children."

" This is your best," you demand angrily, feeling the temperature of the room rise. " Then I would hate to see your worst job at raising them. But let me tell you, you haven't done right by Weiss. Far from it."

" You use her to sing in charity events for you. Use her like some kind of propaganda piece to bolster your own reputation. You try to run her life for her. You forced her friends away from her, and left her with a lonely childhood. She was alone and you didn't care. You tried to run her life for her, instead of letting her make her own choices. You did your best to mold her into a miniature version of yourself when you saw her taking your own path."

" I would advise you to stop talking," he says in an exaggerated calm voice. But, you're on a roll.

" You made a lot of mistakes. But, when it comes to Weiss, you made two big ones. You missed watching her grow up into who she is today. And then you did start seeing her grow up, and you were worried that she would become so much more than you could ever be. So you tried to stifle her growth. And you know what, that isn't even why you failed her. You failed her when you saw the beautiful, strong, independent, smart, caring person she had become and looked her right in the eyes and said she had somehow failed you. That was when you failed as a father. As a man."

He ends the video call, and you turn to Weiss. " I'm sorry," you tell her. " I didn't mean to-I just lost my temper. But seriously Weiss. I want you to know, you didn't fail him or anybody. He failed you."

The temperature in the room drops rapidly, and you feel yourself cooling down. Looking at your arms, you see flames dancing from then, and slowly dying out. " Sorry," you tell her again. " Guess that's my Semblance."

Once the last of the flames die down, she buries herself in your arms and sobs. You just hold her for hours and hours.

( let me know what you thought of the confrontation between the reader and Jacques. I hope it was satisfying)
