Walking down the ports with your team, you roll your eyes and try to block out the sound of Yang and John flirting, and just the smell of the ports in general. Leliana hums a pleasant song to herself, and everyone else is silent for the most part. Weiss's hairband hangs on your wrist, and it makes you smile. After a few minutes, Gideon turns to Weiss. " Not that this isn't a blast, but why are we doing this?"

She gives an answer about wanting to wish the new teams good luck as they enter Beacon, but Yang takes a minute from hitting on John to join the main conversation. " Yeah, that isn't it. She just wanted to scope out any possible competition we might have." Laughing at this, you only get happier when you hear Weiss try to deny it.

The pleasant day is ruined when a monkey faunas runs from the police, and shoots a wink when he goes by. Chuckling to yourself, Weiss sighs. " Another dirty faunas rapscallion," she mutters, which causes both Blake and Gideon to glare at her. " What?"

" Don't call them that," says Blake. " Faunas or not, you don't even know him. Don't make rash judgements about people you don't even know!"

" Rash judgements? Blake, we just saw him stowaway on a ship, and then steal bananas and then running away from the police," she points out. " I don't need all that much more evidence to assume he's a criminal."

This makes Gideon glare at her. " Course you'd say that. People like you couldn't possibly understand why the faunas are sometimes forced to do things like that. Let me make this simple. Faunas have to fight tooth and nail to be in the same room people like the Schnees can just waltz into."

" Oh, you want to bring my family into this," Weiss shouts. " The Schnee family has been a target of faunas violence for years! I've lost count of how many times I would wake up or come home to see police investigating the death of someone because of the faunas!"

When she says this, you wince when you remember the terror Weiss would come to you in after those attacks. Gideon however, has no sympathy. " Because the Schnee family targets faunas. Uses their labor, while denying them a right to exist. Are you really surprised that some faunas would want to fight back?"

" There are ways to fight back without killing," Weiss argues. " Form peace groups, or stage peaceful protests. Violent actions like that are the same reasons people dislike faunas! For all they denial, they make it so people hate them!"

" Oh yeah," says Gideon mockingly. " Because Velvet just antagonizes people like Cardin to the point he has no other choice to pull on her ears!"

Walking back to the dorms, the argument keeps escalating. " This has nothing to do with Velvet," Weiss screams. " This is about faunas like that one who steal like it's second nature, or the ones who kill in cold-blood."

" Cold-blood," Gideon asks in disbelieve. " Because the Schnee just sat back, and did nothing to garner the hatred. They don't exploit faunas labor. They don't pay faunas less than the rest of their workers, and make them work in the worst jobs possible. You're right Weiss, the Schnee are the victims here!"

" Don't you dare talk about my family like that," she threatens. " Think what you will about the Schnee Corporation. But that doesn't mean faunas are justified to just take their life's away!" Gideon opens his mouth to say something, but you cut him off.

" Violence won't make them be equal," you tell him, and he looks at you in anger. " Killing won't make the fear about faunas go away. And don't you dare try and justify why the Schnee family has been attacked. It has caused Weiss so much pain."

He glares at you, and you shoot the glare right back. Yang looks up at the three of you, looking so irritated by the fighting. " Fight, fight, kiss, kiss," she says, sounding utterly bored with the entire argument, and just wishing for it to end.

Despite the efforts of everyone in the room to de-escalate it, the argument continues. Mostly, it's between Gideon and Weiss. Occasionally, Blake adds something to the argument, but is mostly silent. You also join the argument whenever Gideon insults Weiss personally, or looks like he's on the verge of physically attacking her.

" The Schnee family should be brought to justice," he shouts. " No one should be able to use the faunas like that! It just shows how much the world discriminates against them! If he had been doing that to humans, then Oum knows the controversy and outrage! You're just like them Weiss. For all your wanting to be different, you're a racist bully just like them all."

By this point, you've had enough, and punch him the jaw. He staggers back, but regains his footing. " Don't you fucking dare," you tell him. " Don't you fucking dare compare her to the rest of the family. Weiss is the best of that family."

" Yeah. I gotta ask man, would you still be defending her if she was a faunas," he asks, venom in his voice.

You scoff. " Yeah, I would actually. Like I did with Velvet. Remember when I backed you up before Cardin's entire team kicked your ass?" He glares at you, and starts walking for you. Tilting your head, you indicate to him that you have no doubt you can take him.

Before the two of you can get any further, Leliana steps in between you. " Enough you guys! Stop fighting! Can't we just agree that both sides are partly to blame?" Gideon looks at her in outrage. However, she holds her gaze.

" People like the rest of the Schnee family discriminate against faunas," she says, looking apologetically at Weiss. But then, she turns back to Gideon. " And then some faunas react with anger and violence. Which drives the people like the Schnee and Cardin to hate faunas. If one of those sides don't break the cycle of violence, then both will end up destroyed."

Blake stands up angrily. " Well, maybe the White Fang were just being tired of being pushed around!" Her eyes widen when she realizes what she said, before she storms out of the room.
