Chapter 1 - Meeting the Host Club

What had I just walked into!?

I focused my gaze on all the boys I saw standing, and sitting, in front of me. The dozens of cherry blossoms fell to my side as I shook them off and then stepped over them. I guess I was wrong, thinking that this room would be empty and inhabited. It seemed like it was full of people now that I looked more closely. I looked to my sides and saw expensive designer tables and chairs stacked with pastries and teacups, lavish decoration and curtains, as well as flowers in beautiful vases on each and every table. The entire place had such a romantic, classical feel to it. Even though it was strange and new to me, I wanted to stay and see what it was about. This definitely was something more than just a music room.

As I looked around more, I saw girls lined up everywhere, sipping tea and eating pastries. Is this some kind of girl's club? Why would all these boys be here then? Are they waiters? All these questions roamed about in my head before I turned my attention back to the boys. The tall blonde boy took my hand and offered me a rose, smiling. "Welcome, princess, to the Ouran Host Club!" He welcomed me. "Host club?" I asked.  I stepped closer to the boy who smiled genuinely at me. "This is where the finest men of Ouran High entertain the finest ladies of Ouran High, who both have too much time on their hands. Here we entertain our guests like true gentlemen should. You are officially our newest customer. So, my princess, who would you like to request for today?" The blonde guy asked me.

I stumbled backwards a bit, waving my hands in front of me. "H-Hang on a second, I still don't know any of you!" I cried. Suddenly, I felt hands on my shoulders. I turned around to see two twins, both with red hair, smiling at me. "New clients are always fun. How about we show you around?" They both spoke in unison, which to me was pretty impressive. I looked back at both of them, getting a mischievous vibe from them. I could tell these two twins were troublemakers. "Show me around?" I walked backwards from them a little, and ended up being pounced on by a boy and his stuffed rabbit. "Hey, do you want to come have some cake with me and Usa-chan?!" The small, blonde boy asked while holding up his stuffed bunny to me. This young boy looked like he was in elementary school, what's he doing at Ouran High? "Mitsukuni, it's not polite to jump on people." A tall boy with a deep voice and black hair spoke up. The twins circled around me again and grabbed my hands. "Why don't you request us?" They both asked. "R-Request!?" I cried, startled and confused.

Suddenly, I felt somebody pulling me away from the twins. "You imbeciles! That's not how you make a client feel welcome!" It was the tall blonde boy from before! He looked into my eyes, his violet ones bright and warm. "I'm sorry, those twins can be a pain. May I be of service to you, my princess?" He spoke, dreamily. I looked into his eyes and thought for a second. "First of all, you can tell me who you guys are and you can explain to me what this requesting business is." I told him. He looked shot down, as if I had turned him down after he confessed his love to me. Was that a flirt I ignored? Whatever, I just need to figure out what the heck is going on here!

"The members of the Ouran Host Club are all gentlemen who bring in a number of clients because of their types. You have Mori, the stoic type, Honey, the boy-lolita type, Hikaru and Kaoru, the little devil type, Kyoya, the cool type, and Haruhi, the natural type." As the blonde boy told me the names and types of everyone, he pointed at them and a little light seemed to shined on them. The blonde boy looked back at me, spun around, then posed dramatically. Cherry blossoms swirled around him as a light shone on him as well. "And I am the king of the host club, Tamaki Suoh, the princely type!" He announced. I tilted my head. "Princely type? Are you a prince?" Tamaki's little bubble seemed to burst and he quickly looked for something to say. "No, my princess, I am not a real prince. It's such a shame, huh? God gives people the gorgeous looks and gentlemanly actions to somebody like moi, a nobody in this world." He ranted, holding his hands close to his heart. "A nobody that can afford to fly to Karuizawa in a split second.." I muttered under my breath. "That still leaves the question, what is the purpose of this club?" I asked again. "The Ouran Host Club was created by Tamaki, as he wanted to make girls feel special and entertain our guests with sweets and tea." Kyoya explained. After Kyoya explained everything about the club, I raised a question. "Why does a club like this exist?" The blonde boy approached me again. "Because it's a good thing to feel special, but either way, all girls are special to me." He dramatically posed and I swear I heard a couple of girls squeal.

He lifted my chin and looked directly into my (E/C) eyes. "Including you, my special princess." He smiled. I studied him for a moment before speaking. "Thanks, but how can I be special to you if you don't know even know me?" I asked. It looked like I shot down a flirt again, because he let out a strange sound and then hid away in a corner, emitting a depressed and sullen vibe. "Hey, I'm sorry, Tamaki, I didn't mean to make you feel bad." I apologized. The twins put their elbows on my shoulders, leaning up against me. "Wow, a girl who doesn't melt at his flirtatious words, you're definitely different." Hikaru said. "Yeah, it's refreshing really." Kaoru said. I looked back at Tamaki, smiling. "He's sweet to say those things though." I heard Tamaki perk up as soon as I said that and in a second he was back in front of me again, being dramatic and romantic. "For all the things I say are true, my dear!" He smiled, regaining his spirit. I have to admit, it was funny watching him be all dramatic and foolish. I started to laugh a little, making Tamaki a little surprised and making him blush. "You're quite the character, Tamaki." I smiled. Tamaki made an embarrassed noise as he hid his face in his hand while his blush worsened.

Kyoya smiled a little bit. "Ah, a young fool experiencing the beginnings of love, no doubt." I looked over at him. "What?" I asked, but before he could say anything, the twins came over to me and smiled. "So, what's your name?" They asked me. Tamaki looked over. "How rude of me not to ask the name of a newcomer!" He cried. "I'm dearly sorry, Mademoiselle, what is your name?" He asked me. "(Y/N). (Y/N) (L/N)." I introduced myself, smiling. "(Y/N)! What a splendid name, fit for a princess." Tamaki smiled, his eyes glistening. "I'm nowhere close to a princess." I complained. Tamaki froze and looked at me. "Why, of course you are! All girls who are beautiful on the inside are beautiful on the outside, just like a princess." My eyes went wide at his saying, but it made me happy that he really felt that way. But really, since he's a rich kid, wouldn't he care more about what's on the outside than on the inside? Maybe not. "So, princess, will you request me so I can learn more about you?" Tamaki asked me.

Before I could reply to him, the twins popped out in front of me and looked me up and down. "So, (Y/N)," Hikaru asked. "What's with those shoes?" Kaoru asked. I looked down at my worn out shoes and quickly tried to hide them. "Ah..er..." I muttered. For a second I thought these people would actually be a refreshing new spirit at this school, but I forgot that they're rich just like everyone else. Once they found out I wasn't all that rich, they'd probably never talk to me again or make fun of me. Just like that other girl. They both noticed my shoes, how could they be any different to each other? I lowered my head, the hope of finally finding friends vanishing right before my eyes. "I have to go." I quickly spoke up as I ran out the doors of the Host Club. "Wait, princess, please come back!" I heard Tamaki shout, but I was already gone.

As I walked away from the Host Club, I couldn't help but think maybe I jumped to conclusions about the members of the club, especially Tamaki. Maybe, even though they're rich, they won't look down on me. Maybe the twins thought I was rich like them and genuinely wanted to know about my shoes. I just couldn't help thinking about that girl that noticed my shoes before. She definitely wasn't genuine and nice, she just wanted to make fun of me. I just didn't want to risk that with these guys. But maybe, just maybe, they're not like that. Perhaps I'll visit the Host Club again. The tea and pastries look good, the room is beautiful and elegant, and..

I really do want to see that Tamaki again.

Tamaki's POV (Point of view)

I stood still as I watched (Y/N) disappear from the Host Club, just like a butterfly flying out of a flower. I turned back to the other hosts, demanding an explanation. "What happened? Why did she just leave like that?" I asked them. Kyoya adjusted his glasses and continued to write in his little black book. "I don't know, why don't you ask Hikaru and Kaoru?" He suggested. I knew it had something to do with those shady twins! Why would I ever trust them to be polite to a newcomer when they're not even polite to me, their king! I ran over to them with an angry look on my face. "What happened? Why did she leave so quickly?" I demanded to know. As usual, they looked at each other and shrugged. "We don't know, boss." Kaoru said. "We just asked her why she was wearing those old shoes and she freaked out." Hikaru said.

"You jerks! You obviously struck some sort of soft spot. How could you be so insensitive?" I reprimanded them. "But Tama-chan, she was wearing pretty old and worn out shoes. It looked like Haruhi's shoes when we first met her." Honey pointed out, stuffing his face with cake. Haruhi looked at Honey and groaned. "Gee, thanks." She said. I thought for a second, raising my finger to my chin. "Well then, she must be a commoner." I reasoned. "Needless to say, if she's a commoner, how can she afford the uniform?" Kyoya asked. The twins shrugged again. "Maybe she's not as desperately poor as Haruhi." They chimed in. "Don't talk about Haruhi that way!" I commanded them. I looked at the door. "Even if she was a commoner, why would she just run away like that?" I asked myself. "Maybe she's embarrassed." Haruhi suggested. My eyes went wide. Sure, commoners don't have as much as we may have, but it's no reason to be embarrassed, is it? Then again, I did think Haruhi would be embarrassed when we visited her small house, but she wasn't. Then why was (Y/N)?

"Maybe she'll come back, boss." I looked at the twins and crossed my arms. "Who knows if she will come back after the way you two so rudely treated her. You ought to apologize if she ever does show her face in here again!" The twins went off to entertain their guests, but I just stood in the middle of the room, looking at the door.

I do hope she comes back, if even for a day.
