***TRIGGER WARNING***

*Shadow's POV *
"Where are they?!" I snapped as I held Fleetway by the neck. Aleena had called a search for them every day since they took them and someone had managed to had caught Fleetway.

"Shadow, Shadow." He smirked at me as he raised his arms to the side. "I'm afraid it too late~" He said but I didn't budge, instead I tighten my grip. "You were too slow, they're long gone by now." He kept laughing and choking.

"That's a lie!" I growled furiously.

"To remember how beautiful those pups looked. Sonic couldn't stay alive long enough to take care of them. He was alone and bleeding out from the birth." He gave me a big creepy smile. "They're dead and there's nothing you can do about it. We hid them from you, you'll never find their bodies."

Something in me snapped, making me grab his head and twist. I broke his neck making his body go limb and fall to the floor as soon as I let go. I took a few steps back then saw he was holding something. I reached down and grabbed it but immediately dropped it. It was a picture of Sonic and the pups.

My beautiful family...

It was a picture of them together, bleeding.

My world shattered and I fell to my knees. I dropped the pictures as I covered my face and cried.

"Shadow!" I heard foot steps get closer to me then stop. I heard whoever was next to me grab the picture then gasp and drop it. They fell beside me as they looked at Fleetways body. "N-no... this is impossible."

The fox said then looked at me and touched my shoulder. "No. I refuse to believe this. We have to find them." He shook me lightly. I looked up at him and notice he was crying.  "He can't be dead." He said and I nodded.

He can't be dead. He can't be.

"They said Fleetways been coming to this city since Sonic went missing. They must have hid them somewhere here." He stood up then extended his arm. I took it for once and stood up.

"Right." I picked up the picture for clues and realized there was a sign behind Eggman in the picture. "Isn't this the bar next door?" I asked and he looked at him and nodded.

"Yes but where is this?" His ears perked up and he took out his upgraded phone.

"What are you doing?"

"I am looking for the blue prints of this place." He said then he stopped for a second. "Fleetway owned that bar." He said outloud. "I can't find any blue prints, we are just going to- Found them!" He said then turned his phone to see it better. "It seems to travel underground but it doesn't show how to get there."

"We will just have to find it. Come on." I said as I walked to the bar and went in. I noticed the people who were there were people GUN had been after, they all looked at us, glaring at us and wanting us out but we didn't leave. We said nothing to anyone as Tails continued looking at his ohone then up.

"It says there a door there but there's nothing." He said once we were in the restroom away from others. I walked closer to where the blue prints said and felt around the wall for a button.

I felt something and pressed it making the wall move and stairs appear from the other side. Tails immediately walked in but I stopped him and went in first. I knew to protect him because Sonic made me promise to keep his friends safe too. I looked down at my ring and couldn't help but think how I will find him. It had been 2 weeks since Eggman took him and I wasn't there for him when he gave birth to the pups.

Please be okay.

It was all I cared about. I just wanted my family to be okay, to be back home and safe.

"Attack!" I heard Eggman as the lights turned on, blinding us for a second.

Behind where Eggman was, I saw the room the picture was taken in. I had to fight the robots to be able to get there and see Sonic.

Metal appeared and started attacking me as Tails took care of the others. "Shadow, go!" Rouge got in the way and kicked Metal away from me. "Go look for Sonic!" I turned to look and saw Knuckles and Amy as well helping Tails fight the robots.

I chaos controlled behind Eggman then kicked him to the floor and stepped on his throat. "I shouldn't had let you live this long." I growled as I chaos speared his heart then left him there alone. I saw the door and pressed the button to open the door.

I ran in and started to panic when I saw blood on the floor. It was a room made to look like a house, but they could see and monitor whoever was in here from outside the room. I went into the bathroom and looked around behind the furniture but I saw no one there.

My heart broke realizing Fleetway was right. I had found them too late and now I will never find their bodies. They were dead... They were gone.

The door closed behind me and the room fell silent, I no lo ger heard the fight that was going on outside. I stood still, letting my world shatter around me and glancing around to where Sonic had been living while in his most vulnerable state. I couldn't believe I let this happen, I let Sonic get taken away. I let them all down.

"Hello...?" I heard a weak voice and some whimpering come from somewhere in the room. My ears perked up. "Is anyone out there...?! Help...!" The voice sounded low. "Please... Save them at least..."

Sonic.

"Sonic?!" My heart was beating rapidly as I skated around trying to find where it was coming from. "Where are you?!"

"Sh-Shadow...?!" There was pounding suddenly under me. My ears perked up and I moved the carpet at my feet. There was no handle or hole to open it but I noticed there was a button. As I got to the floor I could hear whimpering and crying.

My heart broke even more and tears streamed down my muzzle as I opened the door which led to yet another hidden place. It was a hole.

"Shadow...!" Sonic looked up at me as he held the pups close to him. He looked weak and bruised up. They had hurt him. He passed me the pups and then reached for me. I helped him out then passed the pups back to him because he didn't want to leave their side then I hugged him tightly. 

"I thought I lost you." I whispered as I hide my face in his neck and let my emotions take over me as I cried. Sonic cried on my shoulder as well, I wanted to stay like this, holding him but my chest fur was suddenly yanked making me hiss.

"Let him go..." Sonic looked down at the pups making me snap out of it and look down as well. They were beautiful and they looked healthy, not a single scratch or bruise on them. "I didn't let them hurt them." Sonic panted weakly. "I kept them safe."

"You did a good job..." I saw Sonics eyes start to close making my body freeze and my heart stop for a second. I held the back of his neck and kissed his lips. "You did so good..." I kissed his forehead then petted the pups. 

"Eggman found out about what you did to Fleetway and tried to take them.." He explained. "He sent Metal and I didn't let him touch them. Not once..." I looked at his side when I saw his hand was covered in blood. "I knew you'd come..." He had a stab wound and was still bleeding.

"Sonic..." Tears kept rolling down my muzzle. Was it too late?

"I love you, Shadow...." He purred weakly keeping the pups calm when they started to cry. "I love you..." He rested his head on my chest and he slowly closed his eyes.

"No... TAILS!" I shouted and carried him up making sure the pups wouldn't fall then laid him down in the bed that was in the room. "FOX!"

I watched as Sonic gave his last breath while I held my pups close to me.
