Chapter 7

Shortly after the prince left my room the king paid me a visit. He, not only told me that he was sorry for what had happened before with Stepmother, but also that I was welcomed here even if Gemma and Louis separated.

"Is there anything I can do for you?" I ask the king. He sat at the edge of my bed, next to me. He wore simple clothes, which was something I didn't expect from royalty. My views on the royal family, which I had developed during my entire life, were slowly starting to dissolve and be replaced with new ones.

"Yes, the lady that's in charge of the garden is deathly ill, so she can't work on the garden today. From what your sister says you know you're way around gardening tools. I was wondering if perhaps you could pick up a few more gardening tools and do a few things outside for me. I would have one of the other workers do it, but most of them have today off," The kind explains.

"You have a rather big garden, Your Majesty, I probably won't be able to do it on my own. Besides that, I don't have any money of my own," I say. I had done stuff in the past with things like this, but the palace garden? If I messed up at home the only person that would be upset was Stepmother. If I messed something up here, however, there would be countless people reminding me of what I did.

"My son will go with you to pay for expenses. It would be a good opportunity for the two of you to talk and get to know each other, since you are going to be brother-in-law's. If you ask you could probably help you as well," The king suggests.

"Do you know where your son is? I would like to get to work as soon as possible."

"I heard that he was speaking with one of the old maids in her bedroom, a few rooms down."

"Thank you," I mutter. I stand and head out of the room. I start down the hall pressing my ear to a few of the doors to hear for voices. I stop at one of the doors when I hear voices speaking inside.

"I'd say that you just stay married to her and find happiness in someone else as long as she says that it's alright," I don't recognize the voice, but I open the door anyway.

"Louis! There you are!" My eyes widen as I realize how lucky I got. The first room I tried ended up being the one with Louis. I feel accomplished with myself.

"Harry? What are you doing here?"

"The king wanted you to go to town with me to pay for some new gardening tools," I explain. The woman whom Louis was talking to nods at him; he stands and kisses her.

"Thank you for the advice. I'm sure I'll be seeing you around some time soon." Louis turns to me and smiles as he closes the door gently and starts.

"Just show you?" Prince Louis questions.

"No, I was also wondering if you'd help me with a few things outside as well," I add. He smiles at me and his eyes light up for a moment before he continues speaking.

"I thought you said you weren't a gardener? Are you lying to me already?" Louis asks, folding his arms over his chest. I stop and gulp.

"Your father asked for a favor. I wouldn't have done it if the king hadn't asked," I say. Louis chuckles and touches my arm lightly. I feel warmth radiate from the spot when he removes it.

"I'm only joking, Harry. So my father asked you to do something and then volunteered me to help out? Sounds like him." We continue walking down the hall and towards the palace doors. I push my hands into my pockets as the prince calls for a carriage. I wasn't used to the idea of living with rich people, yet. I also had no idea what I was supposed to call Prince Louis. Was I supposed to stay professional or could I use something more casual?

As we wait for the carriage to arrive I decide to ask, "What do I call you?" Louis looks startled at my sudden conversation starter. He looks at me for a moment and then responds.

"Whatever you want to call me is fine. If you're going to call me Dickhead or anything make sure it isn't in front of my father or the maids." I try to hold back a laugh. The Prince's face is deadly serious, but when he turns away from me I could see the corners of his mouth twitch up.

"Really though, what should I call you? Prince Louis seems way to formal for my brother-in-law, but Louis seems too casual," I explain. He thinks this over for a minute, however, before he can speak the carriage arrives.

We look at each other before he gestures for me to go first. He opens the door for me as I climb into the carriage. He comes in a moment later and takes the seat opposite of me. He waits until the door is closed to continue speaking.

"Please call me Louis. I would prefer for you to do so all the time, but some of the maids would start getting ideas. So, when it's just the two of us call me Louis, but when someone else is around stick with Prince Louis or something," He says. I nod.

Louis asks, "What about you? What shall I call you in private and public?" Boyfriend.

"Harry in public and Master in private," I joke, adding a wink at the end for dramatic effect. He rolls his eyes and smiles at me. I notice how his smile really reaches his eyes and how happy he looked. I wished I could bottle that up and keep it for myself.

"You really want me calling you Master when nobody's looking?" Louis voice goes hushed and for a moment my heart drops as I see how seductive Louis was being. I shake my head no.

"I was joking," I point out. Louis laughs and looks out the window.

"We're here."
