Chapter 4

David fell ill. He wasn’t able to attend his classes. Emily was feeling sad about it. Sarah, her classmate and friend, said, “Hey! You seem to be lost in the dreams of your prince!”

Emily didn’t say anything. She was quite. She couldn't tell Sarah it was not just his prince but was worried for David too.. But yeah at the moment, when she is so sad , all she was thinking was about her prince, so she can run to him and feel better.  She felt he is missing her too.

“My prince is missing me. I can feel it in my heart. He is calling my name. Sarah, my prince is calling me.”

"Hey, Emily! I can’t understand how crazily you love your prince whom you have never seen! You are crazy! Is there any scarcity of handsome and rich boys here in our college or town that you are running after a dream like this?”

“Oh Sarah!” Emily’s voice was heavy, “He will come to me one day. And then you will see that my prince is different from other boys. He loves me more than any other man can ever do.”

“Okay, princess! You won, I lost! Definitely, When 2 Hearts believe, Everything is possible"!

Both the girls smiled in unison believing in that phrase. Ofcourse love knows no boundaries, no age, no time and no distance.

Sarah always liked Emily for her simple nature and for having an innocent heart. She was happy that there were still some people who could stay in love with one person and sometimes without even any meeting in person. Sarah wrote love stories which were very famous among her friends and in the town. Her stories would be based on some real theme.

"Sarah, will you write my story?”

“O Emily! Your story will be great! It will be the most unbelievable but true story that I have ever written. And if I live, I wish to see you with your prince.”

Emily felt sad when Sarah said “if I live” for Sarah had got some incurable illness. But by God’s grace Sarah did live her life and became a story teller.

“Yes, you will see him one day.” Emily smiled while holding Sarah’s hands tightly.

On the other side , David was not well yet he couldnt rest, he was throwing all his books and diaries here and there as he was searching for the letter. He sat in his chair his eyes were glittering. They had tears in them. He just forgot it that he had put the letter inside the diary of Emily. He sat in his chair covering his face with his hands. It was drizzling outside. He looked out through the window. There was a great thirst in his eyes. They were longing for his fairy. “Oh Fairy! Come and embrace me! Before the string of my breaths gets broken… come and take me with you to the place where our love breathes. I’m waiting for you… o my fairy!”

He fainted and fell on the ground. Next what he remembers was that he was in a hospital and when he opened his eyes slowly, he saw a blurred image of a girl standing near his bed , holding roses in her hands. He felt as if his fairy has come for him finally , he hurriedly tried to sit up but Emily's words made him open his eyes at once, like someone shooking him out of his dreams to reality. And it was Emily standing there not her fairy but somehow he didn't felt sad about it, infact his heart was just as happy as it could be.

She moved forward smilingly " how are you doing David?"

David - "Good to see you"

Emily laughed saying - "Was'n't that suppose to be my line?"

Both laughed together and chatted till a nurse had to come and inform Emily that visiting hours got over. Both, Emily and David couldn't help but laugh much to the irritation of the nurse who couldn't understand the reason for their amusement.

Months passed. They became the best of friends. Was hating the fact that college is going to be over and they have to go their separate ways now but both knew that the memories they have of their times together will last forever.

But both David and Emily kept wondering from time to time about the things that happened to them in their time together. They couldn't reasoned it out, never talked bout it, afraid if it affect their friendship. Both didn't wanted to risk losing the other so they kept their dreams and the things that happening to them to themselves and kept telling theirshelves and the other that they are best friends. It was a good enough explanation.

It was the farewell day in the college. Emily was walking with David. “Emily, I will miss you.”

“When will you leave, David?” She said in a sad low voice.

“By tomorrow morning.” David didn’t show any sign of sad feeling. He kept smiling. But in his heart he was sad as he didn’t want to leave Emily who had always been with him.

Emily couldnt live in this confusion anymore, she had to know, so that she finds her peace, her answers, she knew they are not going to meet again, if she couldn't  ask him now, she will never know and she had to know. she held his hands and looking into his eyes she said, “David, do you love me?”

David could not think anything for a moment. He was shocked and confused. He simply said :  “No!”

“No, David?” She looked into his eyes but David avoided her eyes.

"Emily, I love my fairy!”

“Fairy?” She was stunned. Fairy? She asked herself - David loves a Fairy?

“Yes, my fairy for whom I have been waiting so long.” Emily laughed out.

“What’s funny about it?”

"No, No! I am not laughing at you. I am laughing because you looked so confused when I ask you whether you loved me. I was just joking. But you never told me about your fairy before…?” She looked at him enquiringly.

David said nothing for a while. They were now walking on a bridge. The natural beauty of the water stream always attracted Emily. She asked David to stop there for some minutes. They stood there talking to each other. “David, you see this river. Who knows how much thirst she has inside her heart?”

“O Emily! You are so deep in your thoughts!” She smiled at him.

"David, when will be our next meeting?”

“I don’t know, Emily. Is there anything that you want to give to me to keep it with me?”

"Yes, take this diary of mine. It’s my new collection of poems.”

“O I will love to read your poems! Thank you Emily!”

Emily was speechless. she coulnt understnd what more to say or do so without even realising she started carving something on the wall of the bridge. “David & Emily - Forever.
