Chapter 5: Capture the Trader
(Ok, I am sorry to all Croatia fans! I don't like using certain characters as villains, but it is mentioned that he used to be a thief and commit crimes. This character seemed like the best option! It is really hard to write a Hetalia story and not use the same old boring characters as villains. I want to do something different! Either way, please enjoy!)
Roderich caught his breathe and clutched his heart before turning to the kitchen to check on the girls. He couldn't believe Dražen's reaction and wanted to rush out there to help his friend, but he heard Clarisse's worried yells and rushed to open the doors to the kitchen.
"Are you alright?!" he asked with worry as he found Erzsébet holding a panicked Clarisse.
"We're fine, but what happened?!" Erzsébet asked as Clarisse hugged Roderich with a crying expression.
As the prince prepared to explain everything, he smelled a sickening scent and turned to find the source of it. With wide eyes of horror and disgusted expression, Roderich stared at the floor to see the charred remains of ingredients and other decorations. Erzsébet gasped as Clarisse stared in horror before pulling herself away from Roderich to stare at it.
"What is this?" Clarisse asked in a confused manner when she kneeled to examine it closely.
Roderich roughly pulled the accountant away from the charred substance and stood between them and it.
"Do not touch that!" he snapped strongly, "I don't mean to raise my voice and be rough, but Dražen has control over the element of grass. He manipulated the element to make it poisonous! Unless someone else has this element or knowledge of how to handle it, it is fatal to us. Do not touch it"
Clarisse only nodded her head as she took cautious steps away before groaning with a hand to her face, "And how much will it cost to have this fixed? Oh, the damage hurts me!"
Roderich was relieved that she didn't pay any attention to the money that he had in his possession. Erzsébet noticed the forgotten ring of coins on the counter with her eyes slowly growing wide before staring at the gentleman. She knew he was not an ordinary person now! Who is he?! Roderich caught her questioning gaze and simply coughed into his hand to change the hiding subject.
"We can worry about that later. We should check on Francis and the others. I hope they'll be able to help him. Arthur's plan has changed, and I have this funny feeling he would not enjoy that" Roderich informed as he turned to Erzsébet who nodded her head and went outside.
The people were startled by Francis and Dražen as well as staring at the bakery with bewildered and horrified expressions. She wondered why as she turned around and stared in utter disbelief at the sight of vines growing around the bakery and holding it tightly!
"Roderich was correct. Dražen does have power of grass" Erzsébet gasped as she unsure of how to even remove the vines.
"Well, he has skill over the element, I will admit that much" Yao commented as he examined it with interest, "But that will not matter. I will handle it. This is nothing. What else did he do to the bakery?"
She jumped when Yao suddenly appeared behind her and quickly explained what had happened inside the bakery. He let out an interested hum before entering to expect the damages the trader did. Roderich and Clarisse moved to show Yao the damages who had his hands in his sleeves before staring at it.
"Oh, is that all?" Yao expressed a little disappointed and wave of his hand, "No matter. I shall handle it. You won't have to pay a cent! Well, except for the new food. I can't do anything about that. That is the real tragedy"
He kneeled before it as Clarisse was relieved when she placed a hand over her beating heart. Roderich and Erzsébet stared at the chief. Erzsébet was staring with a bewildered expression while Roderich huffed in annoyance at how Yao seemed to know what to do.
"Excuse me, but how do you know how to do that?" Roderich demanded to know with a firm expression, "You would either have knowledge of the element of grass itself or extensive knowledge on all the elements! That takes years to learn, and I am supposed to believe you have that?!"
Yao smirked as he pressed his hands on the wooden floor to send a wave of embers to dissolve the charred remains into golden spheres of light! The spheres of lights soon popped before disappearing into the light. The embers burned over the bakery in a gentle manner to burn away the remaining vines holding it. The chief stood up with a satisfied expression and hands on his hips to swiftly turn to the couple and impressed Clarisse.
Yao simply walked pass them as he with a wise expression, "It is interesting to know what one can learn when he doesn't confirm his mind to the area he is in"
Roderich huffed and conceded to the chief as Erzsébet realized something. Francis was not with the chief!
"What about Francis? Is he ok?" she asked with worry with a hand over her heart.
"Nothing to fear. I helped him. Now, it is up to Gilbert and Arthur to care for him which I am sure they will. After all, one is his best friend, and the other is foolish, blind idiot"
The waitress laughed at Yao's descriptions while Roderich rolled his eyes. At least the bakery is safe, and no real harm came to them, but he hoped the rest would carry out the plan without too much trouble. And yet, the musician felt dread and knew that would not be the case at all.
When Francis ran out of the bakery earlier ago, he did scare the people who happened to be near his home and workplace. He apologized before running up to Yao who wasn't staring at him.
"There you are! Are you ready?" Francis asked a little impatient and catching his breath.
As Yao turned to him, Dražen kicked the door again and pointed his daggers at the baker and chief with anger clearly covering his features. The chief and baker turned to focus on him, ready for anything he would do to them.
"Ti pekar!" Dražen yelled in frustration as he marched to them with the people screaming and trying to get away from him, "Get back here and die like every other hero in stories of old!"
Yao chuckled with Francis holding a nervous yet terrified expression. He expected Yao to be afraid in the situation they were in, not laughing!
"So, what did you say that made him so angry? Ah, it is always a delight to see the neighbors causing trouble and getting into petty fights without a care or regard for the situation!" Yao commented with a grin as Francis held a perplexed expression.
"Did you get into trouble?" Francis asked in a concerned tone, wondering if he should've done proper background checks on the people he hires and befriends.
"Shì de!" Yao answered without hesitation, "I've been on a lot of fun and stupid adventures! I don't plan to stop now either! Now, are ready?"
Before the baker could even say a word, Yao took his arm to run in the opposite direction! Francis let out a surprised yell with the chief using his other hand to conjure up the small dragon! The chief searched for anything that he could use in their favor as the trader gave chase to them with the people running and taking cover.
"Do you see anything that can be useful, wǒ de lóng?" Yao whispered in hopes of not alerting Francis to his element and unique power.
The little, red dragon poked his head out of the sleeve and searched for anything they could use. He yelped when he noticed barrels of wine tied against a winery and only held by ropes. The little, red dragon nipped at Yao's sleeve and gestured his head to it. His owner smirked as an idea formed in his head.
"Francis! Cut the barrels and free the wine! Control it towards Dražen!" Yao informed with a smirk as he used his might to toss the baker forward!
The baker let out a yelp as he easily tossed towards the wine, but he reacted quickly. He drew his rapier to cut the lids off the barrels of wine to then jumping to the side to avoid the wave of wine flowing into the streets and towards the trader.
Holding the rapier in front of his face with his eyes closed, Francis calmed himself as he listened to the waves of the wine and only hearing it wash against the people and objects around. He could almost picture it in his mind and heard Dražen cursing when he saw the waves of wine approaching him.
"I've got you" Francis whispered as his sapphire eyes opened to shine before thrusting the rapier forward to control the wine, "Laver mon ennemi!"
The wine obeyed the baker and soon washed towards the trader! Yao observed how Francis only used one thrust to control the wine with such ease. The baker ensured that no one else was caught up in the waves nor splashed by the wine. It receded from the people and objects nearby to focus on Dražen! This was not a normal skill most people with the element of water have. It takes years of practice to master complete control over the water, especially if is a large amount. Yet, Francis had no such trouble! It fascinated the chief who noticed his little, red dragon was staring at the waves of wine with much interest.
"I know, wǒ de long" Yao chuckled at the little dragon, "You are ready to spread your wings, soak up the wine, and unleash your furry. Well, now! Go forth, wǒ de long!"
Yao extended his right hand to have the little dragon fly out of the sleeve and dive into the waves of wine. The little dragon hid himself very well among the red wine washing over him before Yao snapped his fingers. The little dragon burst into flames and caused the waves of wine to turn into fire! Francis stared at the raging red fire with a worried expression as he saw the wooden stalls, structures, and other material around them and the people! Everyone was going to get hurt!
"Oh, please" Yao scoffed as he held his hand out, "You have dominance over water, and Dražen has control over grass. Did you ever wonder why I was so good with cooking? I have power over fire!"
He raised his hand upward to have the fire surround and trap Dražen! Yao used his other hand to ensure that the fiery vortex did not spread nor catch anything else on fire! Francis was in awe as he turned to Yao with an amazed and trusted expression.
"Magnifique Yao!" Francis admired as he put his rapier away, "That should hopefully hold him long enough for one of the supposed princes to come and see this!"
Yao chuckled, but not for the same reason as Francis would assume. The chief only found it ironic that they were waiting for a prince when one was right with them. Francis went to thank the chief for his hard work as Dražen stared through the fiery vortex to see the baker commending the chief.
"Oh, no!" Dražen growled lowly as he grabbed his daggers, "I will not let you stop me! Not when I am so close to finally having him suffer for what I went through!"
Steeling and covering himself with some dried, scented leaves, Dražen lunged through the fiery vortex and towards them! Francis gasped as Yao extended his arm out to protect the baker from the trader!
"Sod off, you wanker!" Arthur yelled before casting a powerful, lightning bolt right at the trader!
Francis turned around to see his crush standing there with his right hand out as lightning sparkled around his hand. Francis was relieved to see him ok as Yao was staring at the trader who was spazzing from the Arthur's spell. He kept an eye on the trader as Francis rushed to Arthur.
"Are you ok? What are you doing here?" Francis asked in relief as he stood before him.
"You were running late! I was starting to worry that you would not keep up with the plan!" the prince snapped as Yao sighed at them.
The chief hoped they wouldn't bicker again when he turned away from the trader. Seeing them distracted with each other, Dražen reached for his bag and pulled out a few leaves. He noticed some of the flames were burning near him! Dražen smirked before he crumbled the leaves to throw it at the burning fire. A powerful explosion, purple fog, and strong scent covered the area! Francis covered his mouth along with Arthur's with Yao raising his hands upward to throw the flames into the sky to disperse it.
"Did you think your fire, water, and lightning is enough to stop me?!" Dražen yelled as he looked through the fog and found Francis and Arthur holding onto each other, "Huh, if the bakery is enough for you to have, then perhaps I should take your friends away too!
With eyes watered with fear and concern, Francis pulled Arthur and himself away to avoid the trader who tried to cut them! The prince and baker fell on the dirt road as they scurried away from the trader to avoid him. Both held each other's hand before turning to run in the opposite direction! Dražen forgot about Yao who decided it would be best to turn back to help the bakery.
"Do you have a plan?" Francis asked as they were running through the street and searching for anything that could help them.
Arthur grumbled as he recalled Gilbert's promise to protect him! They were almost at the palace, but Liam wasn't here!
"Yes, but please trust me!" Arthur shouted as he sent a shockwave through Francis's body to stun him!
"Putain! What is wrong with you?!" Francis cried out in pain as Arthur pushed Francis to alleyway to then throw a spark of lightning at Dražen.
Dražen threw his dagger to take the spell before swinging the other dagger to try and strike him! Arthur ducked to then holding his hands out to create a lighting shield to protect himself from the strikes. He attempted to zap the trader whenever he got too close. When Dražen thrusted his dagger to nearly strike Arthur's shoulder only for him to lean away, Arthur grabbed his arm and sent another shockwave to stun the trader! The trader roughly shoved the prince away to collect himself and tried to shake off the paralysis.
"Argh! What the heck?! Why won't you die?!" Dražen exclaimed in frustration, "You're just as stubborn as that baker!"
"I personally believe I am even more stubborn than him!" Arthur taunted with a knowing smirk, "You see, I have no reason to ever back down against those who are daft fools and cannot even think of ways to help themselves. Instead, they would try and bring others down with him. That is truly pathetic if you ask me"
Using anger and pure strength to shake off the paralysis, Dražen lunged forward to swing his dagger to cut Arthur's right arm! The prince cried out in pain as he gripped his arm and yelled! The trader smirked at how weak Arthur is only for him to realize the prince was screaming a lot. Dražen knew he was strong, but he didn't think that strike would cause this much pain.
"Oh, no" Arthur grimaced with a confident expression, "That did hurt, but not as much as you believe it to be. I just needed to believe you won for that foolish moment"
Dražen was perplexed as he heard a frustrated yell! The wine washed over most of the cobble and dirt path which is enough for Gilbert to use his lightning. He slammed his feet into the wine with a yell before lighting sparked from his feet. He ran over the wine before gliding across it! He drew his sword to hold it behind his head! Dražen didn't have time to react as Gilbert jumped and held the blade above his head!
"See ya loser!" Gilbert yelled as swung the blade to knock Dražen away from the injured Arthur!
Gilbert landed before his fellow prince before turning the blade to the knocked down Dražen. The prince turned to Arthur who held a smirk while holding his injured arm that had blood dripping from it, coating the white sleeve in red.
"Do you have a death wish, or do you love to dance with death?" Gilbert asked with a snicker as he pointed his sword downward.
Arthur only shrugged with a knowing expression that only made Gilbert laugh, knowing he was going to get along with him.
"ARTHUR!" Francis yelled with worry covering his voice as he ran to him and Gilbert, "Are you ok?! Mon dieu! What were you thinking?! See, this is why I disagreed with your plan! You're hurt!"
The prince rolled his eyes and was prepared to retort with a witty comeback only for Francis to gently take his injured arm and rolled up the sleeve to see the wound. The prince's expression flushed at the gesture as the baker examined it and nodded his head.
"Zut alors" Francis grumbled before opening a small pouch to take out a small bottle of water.
The prince was hesitant when he saw the small bottle, but Francis opened it before hovering his hand over the wound. The water flowed from it to cover the wound! Arthur winced and tried to move away as he knocked the water off. Francis snapped his fingers to stop the water from falling to the path.
"Is everything ok? I am only going to heal your wound. Did I do anything to hurt you?" Francis asked with concern as he held the water away from his crush.
"Oh! Is that all? I apologize" Arthur answered in utter relief, "This may seem weird, but I don't enjoy water. It frightens me. I didn't know you were trying to help"
In truth, the prince didn't know how to swim. Water terrified him deeply as a result. He didn't want to reveal this embarrassing secret at all. Francis could tell that his crush didn't want to explain more and was scared to confess this.
"D'accord" Francis whispered as he gently held Arthur's arm, "Do not worry. It will be fine. I will go slow and gentle. You have no need to worry, I promise"
He slowly held his hand over Arthur's arm to have the water slowly cover the wound. Arthur still hissed at the contact and gripped Francis's other hand tightly. Francis nodded his head and focused on the wound slowly. Using the water, he used it to heal him. The baker stared at the prince with a soft, reassuring expression to help soothe Arthur. Arthur stared with a wonderous expression at the gesture and felt safe with him.
"Ja! You've got nothing to worry about!" Gilbert snickered as he interrupted the tender moment between the baker and prince, "Francis used to do this whenever we got into scrapes! Funny enough, we did have ein Freund that has the grass element! Though, that was never enough for the awesome me!"
Arthur was tempted to cast a stun spell, but Francis only sighed at his best friend's antics. Francis squeezed Arthur's hands in a reassuring manner to not worry him. Arthur sighed as let the baker heal and prevent him from hurting his best friend.
Dražen picked himself up and stared at the group with anger blossoming over his features at the sight. It made him sick beyond belief! He couldn't understand this! Why does Francis get this?! Why does he have everything he wanted?! Why him?!
"Ti pekar" the trader snarled as he slowly picked himself up and drew his dagger, "I will ensure you will die like every other hero in history!"
He slammed his other hand to dirt path to have vines grow and wrap around Francis and Arthur to prevent them from moving! They were surprised to see this as Gilbert turned to them to see the vines! He extended a hand to help them only for Dražen to appear behind them with a dagger behind him!
"Gilbert!" Francis and Arthur shouted as the prince turned to raise his blade to block the strike.
He withstood Dražen's attack and in front of the couple. He wouldn't let them get hurt as long as the prince stood in front of the couple.
"How much of a loser are you?!" Gilbert taunted as he smirked at being to hold his ground, "Do you really think you can stop someone as awesome and powerful as me?!"
Francis ceased his water and went to pull the vines with Arthur's help. Dražen wouldn't let them get so easily! He used his other hand to grab some leaves from his pouch and crushed it in his hands to push in front of Gilbert's face! Gilbert coughed and struggled to breath before falling to the ground! He struggled to even fight it as Dražen stood over the couple!
"Gilbert!" Francis shouted with worry as he still held onto Arthur.
"You asshole! What will it take you for you to stop this madness?!" Arthur snapped as Francis realized that Dražen was holding his dagger over his head!
With the dagger above them, Dražen growled, "To stop this foolish notion of heroes and ensure that it dies here!"
He swung the dagger downward to deliver a strike as Francis raised the rapier to block it with Arthur holding his good hand in front to have lightning spark from it! A powerful clash was echoed as a dazzling light sparkled before the couple! The couple was stunned at the sight and found a wonderous sight before them!
The baker's rapier was covered in the prince's lightning to glow a silver light! The silver light enveloped the couple in a warm, gentle blanket! They saw sparks of lightning bursting from it too, as if it was ready for them to strike back at their attacker. They couldn't understand where this beautiful power come from as they held onto each other.
"Did you do this?" Francis whispered as he stared at the light.
Arthur shook his head as he was taken aback by it, "No, I don't think so"
Stunned by it, the couple didn't make a move. Dražen was pushed back from them, but he quickly recovered as they waited for the silver light to disappear. Once it did, Francis lowered the rapier and stared at a bewildered Arthur who was looking at his hand. They stared at each other with wide eyes before Dražen let out another frustrated yell at the couple. Francis gripped his rapier and held Arthur close who prepared another spell for defense only for Royal Guard to stand around them!
"Now what?" Francis groaned as Arthur smirked before reaching for his hood to cover his head and holding his injured arm.
"C-cease this at once!" Liam yelled as he ran and stepped between two guards with a panicked stance, "W-what are you doing?! Why are you doing this, trader?!"
People were whispering and staring at them with Francis confused as he held Arthur close to him with Arthur blushing at the contact and staring at Liam. He hoped Liam would be able to do this regardless of the fear he felt of being watched.
Liam was wearing a brown jacket with a three-leaf clover pinned to close it. A white shirt was underneath it, and a pair of white pants on. He has brown shoes with black gloves with a royal, dark blue coat on him. On his finger is a golden ring that belonged to the Royal Princes!
"Please speak your reason for doing this!" Liam stated as he slowly gained his confidence and faced the trader who was ready to harm his little brother, "By order of the Fourth Prince, Liam Kirkland!"
He waved his hand with his coat flowing behind him as he held a strong, rarely confident expression. Everyone bowed to the prince while whispering to themselves about him stepping outside of the castle and being with them! What is more, the prince was standing up for two people in danger!
"Y-you're the prince?!" Dražen expressed in disbelief as he tried to collect himself.
"That is correct!" Liam answered firmly before gesturing to them, "And why did you raise a sword to them? What wrongs have they brought to you? Please explain it to me. If you cannot, then I shall ask the crowd who has been in their company longer than I am. What was their crime?!"
The people were speechless by the prince's request as they slowly rose their heads to him. Gilbert recovered and smirked when he saw the prince taking a stand as well as feeling Roderich placing a hand on his shoulder to help him sit up. Erzsébet and Clarisse rushed to the crowd before bowing to the prince with Yao holding a wonderful expression when he saw the sight too.
With a bow, Yao answered first, "Nothing that wasn't agreed upon, your majesty"
The crowd turned to him with silence as Yao grinned at how pale and worried Dražen had become when he explained the situation to the prince.
Liam rarely gets angry. In fact, besides Dylan, Liam is the calmest sibling among them. Not today. The torrent of anger built inside of him as well as the injustice Dražen threw upon the Bonnefoy siblings. He wished to release a tidal wave but knew it wouldn't bring any good. If anything, he knew the perfect punishment, but he wasn't the one to give it out. Instead, the prince approached Francis and held a hand to the baker.
"My good baker" Liam spoke in an understanding tone, "This trader has been the one to bring you and your little sister harm. You should be the one to determine his fate and what punishment to bring him. All I will do is ensure that it is served. What would you wish to do?"
Francis stared at the hand before turning to make sure Arthur was safe. Arthur gave him a nod, but Francis didn't take the prince's hand. Instead, the baker stood up on his own feet and bowed to the prince before turning to stare at Dražen.
Despite the pain and suffering the trader did inflict on him and the rest of the people, Francis stared at Dražen's wilting eyes. It reflected the fear and suffering the trader went through. Knowing this and the hints of Dražen's hard life as a wandering mercenary, Francis knew what he should do.
"Never come back to the Kingdom of Spade" he answered plainly with his arms crossed, "And find a new life for yourself in the other kingdoms. A life where you will not have to spread this hatred and no longer suffer. A life that will bring you joy and worth living for"
Hearing the baker's punishment, the trader's eyes were wide with disbelief. This couldn't happen to him, could it? After the work he had done to ensure of his life here, he was told to leave and start over again? How could this be?!
"If that is his punishment, then you will carry it out" Liam declared as he waved his hand towards the Royal Guards, "See to it that the traitorous trader has his belongings and never steps into our beloved kingdom. From this day forth, the trader, Dražen Krleža, will no longer be welcomed into the Kingdom of Spade. Any attempts to return will result is imprisonment until you are thrown out again"
With two Royal Guards grabbing the trader's arms, the trader was forcefully taken away. His eyes were wide with frustration with his ears hearing the punishment he was delivered. The trader wouldn't accept this. He soon struggled in the grasps of the guards and tried to lunge at the baker with Arthur standing up and preparing to cast a spell only for the baker to hold Arthur's hand to stop him.
"I swear it!" the trader threatened as the couple turned to him, "Your lives will end in misery! You will lose everything! Everything you've worked for! Everything you love! You will never have that happy ending you long for! Why?! Because that happy ending has never existed!"
Feeling a chill at his threat, Francis and Arthur gripped their joined hands tightly as they watched the trader disappear from their view. A silence fell over the crowd again as they slowly turned to Prince Liam who felt his nerves rise again.
"A-ah!" the prince spoke before trying to calm his nerves, "Ha! Sorry about this sudden intrusion, my people! I know it has been a while since you've seen your Royal Family! We will do a better job of listening to your worries and reestablishing our kingdom! I know the death of our beloved mother and great queen's passing has wounded us all, but we will be working hard to help restore peace with each other and you! So, we ask for your patience and understanding as we do everything we can to bring you the peace and property you wish for!"
Another silence fell over the crowd as they stared at the prince and hearing his declaration to them. Slowly and loudly, the people were cheering and thanking the prince! Liam was blushing nervously as he took a bow himself with the Royal Guards escorting the prince back to the castle. Liam gave a nod to Arthur who only smiled in relief. His older brother turned around to return to the palace. Feeling utter relief, Arthur simply let out a cheer with the people and turned to see Francis holding a pleasant, tired expression.
"Are you ok?" Arthur asked as he grabbed Francis's hand to pull him close, "I know this was a lot to deal with and certainly not the whole plan that I conjured, but he won't bother you again. I promise you that"
He couldn't read Francis's expression, but he felt the baker's grip on his hand tighten before he pulled Arthur along. They made their way through the crowd as their friends noticed them leaving. As much as Clarisse wanted to run after her big brother, she knew that he needed some space, so she twirled to turn to face Yao, Erzsébet, Roderich, and Gilbert with a serious expression.
"Come along now!" she ordered with a clap of her hands, "We need to fix up the bakery and ensure it is ready for tomorrow! I do not want there to be dillydallying! Do you hear me?!"
"Ja, ja!" Gilbert mocked with an eye roll and smirk, "We know! Don't you want to ask your big brother if he wants to come along with Arthur? Don't you want their help?"
Erzsébet roughly pushed him forward as he cried out in pain from her strength and recovering from Dražen's leaves. Roderich did his best to hold in his chuckle only for him to snicker. He gave Erzsébet a thankful nod as he followed her. Yao held a delighted expression as he watched Francis and Arthur leave together.
"Oh, yes" the chief replied with a chuckle of his own as he saw the red string, "I am sure they will be fine, and it will be delightful to see this continue"
"See what continue?" Clarisse asked as her eyes narrowed at the chief who only chuckled.
He walked pass her with the grin still present, "Ah, but when someone looks too closely, they will disregard everything in front of them. A nice old lesson from an old, chaotic man such is me"
Grumbling in frustration and pondering Yao's words, she rejoined the group as she turned to see where her big brother left with his hand holding Arthur's.
Arthur wanted to speak with the baker, but an uncomfortable silence fell upon them. This made the prince wonder about his actions and if he did anything wrong at all. He couldn't think of anything at all and pouted to himself. He soon realized they arrived at Francis's hideout! The baker finally let go of Arthur's hand and had his back to the prince still.
Fed up with the silence, Arthur finally spoke defensively, "Oh, come on, Francis! What is wrong?! I did everything and to ensure your bakery is safe! Please say something to me!"
The baker sharply turned around and grabbed Arthur's injured arm again with the same gentleness. He did pull the prince to the stony ground to take proper care of the injury again. He held a bottle of water in his other hand to use the water to heal it over the injury.
Arthur had been healed by magic before, especially from Sean and Dylan. This was different from theirs. The water was warm and soothing as well as relaxing. It almost made him sleepy.
"Je suis désolé, Arthur" Francis finally spoke in a calm manner as he stared at the prince, "I was so worried for you. You were hurt because of me. You pulled such a reckless stunt and without even thinking twice about it. You had no idea how I felt when I saw your injury. Please don't put yourself in danger again, Arthur. I will not be ok with it at all"
Arthur held a stunned expression when he stared at the baker's watery eyes. He didn't think about how he and their friends felt. He held a contemplating expression before nodding his head to stare at the baker's watery eyes.
The prince rested his head against the baker's head to whisper, "I apologize too. I should've thought about your feelings and our friends as well. But you must know this, Francis, I cannot stand by and do nothing, especially if I know I can do something about it. I refuse to do nothing. Seeing how concern you are, I will do my best to let you know what I plan to do, but I will not wait if someone is in trouble. So, you better expect yourself to be in danger with me!"
Perhaps that wasn't the most eloquent sentences the prince ever spoke, but he wouldn't shake his resolve and character. And yet, when he gazed at Francis's worried expression over himself, it did make the prince want to be more cautious of himself.
As for the baker, he knew that he couldn't change a core belief that he and the prince shared. Nonetheless, it warmed his heart to know that Arthur would try and take better care of himself for him. That determined expression and resolve to be there for others and himself was enough.
Both shared a soft expression as Francis finished healing Arthur's injured arm. Without even hesitating, Francis embraced Arthur with Arthur wrapping his arms around him. They stayed in the warm embrace, relieved that they were safe, and everything was fine in the end.
Francis hesitantly pulled away from Arthur to rest his head against the prince's. Arthur's cheeks flushed for some reason as he stared at the baker with a piqued expression.
"Mon amour, thank you" Francis whispered in a loving expression and tone, "It gives me great comfort to know that you will try and listen to those who love so much, mon amour"
Arthur stared at the loving expression with his face blushing in a red color. Before he could ask a question, the breeze picked up! Arthur felt his brothers' calling and knew he had to return to the palace, but this made it hard for him to leave. It made it difficult to leave the baker behind.
"It is ok, mon amour" Francis said softly as he was the first to let Arthur go, "I know I will see you again. So, hurry up! Head home and come back to me and our friends, d'accord?"
With the baker's reassuring words and smile, the prince felt so loved and cared for as well as reassured. He gave the baker's hands one more squeezed with a smile of his own before he ran out of the hideout to let the wind take him back to his brothers and land in the garden. This time, the prince's face was flushed deeply with a silly, confused expression on his features.
"There you are!" Duncan said first with a hand running through his dark, red hair as he looked at Arthur's confused, flushed expression with a raised brow, "Now what?"
They were in the garden again as night was slowly covering their heads. Dylan and Liam helped the prince sit up with Sean holding a perplexed expression to glance at Duncan who only stared at Arthur. They decided it would be best for their little brother to speak about whatever is on his mind even though his cheeks were red with his emerald eyes glowing with confusion.
Finally gathering his words and facing his brothers with the flushed expression, the prince asked in an honest and confused tone, "What does "mon amour" mean?"
His brothers were silenced with Sean fainting, Dylan screaming in delight, Liam crying tears of joy, and Duncan holding a grin of his own. So, their little brother was in love with the baker and didn't know it? Oh, they can definitely work with this as they were preparing to meet with the other royals soon.
