1 week later

The class were on a trip to the great wall of china. It was about time. They had been eager to see one of the most famous places in the world.

They had finally gotten there.

"And here is the start of the wall. How about a challenge. We will all at least get to the middle of the wall. Then we will work from there. How does that sound."
Mist people nodded except for Chloe. Miss bustier glared at her and she nodded frantically scared for her hair.(Miss Bustier had threatened to cut her hair off if she carried on with her brattiness.)

"Ok, come on."

Marinette and Adrien were there as well although they had been to the wall many times. It was near to the palace after all.

However, they had been really cautious over the days. The class would always look at them weirdly because they kept on looking around frantically for any sign of danger.
What was up with them two?

It wasn't till they had reached the middle of the great wall, that the class knew exactly what they were talking about. The class now knew why a few days ago, Mari and Adrien had been training really hard in a palace gym.

"Marinette Dupain Cheng, Adrien Agreste. How nice is it that I see you again. It is time for our final battle." An all too familiar voice for the two said.

Mari's POV

Oh no. Not on front of the class. But we have to. How will we save them?

"Illusionniste de paon. How are you? Ready for the big battle?" I asked with a smirk on my face.

"Big battle?"
"Who is this?"
"What is she talking about?"
People from class started to wonder. I turned to Alya and Nino who looked scared.

"Alya, Nino. We already made you promise that if anything happens, then you would take over the kingdom after mom and dad retires. Just make sure no one gets hurt." They nodded while the class looked confused.

"Mari, its time."I nodded and we got into our battle stances.

"Time for what?" Chloe shrieked.
I ignored her.

"Tikki, spots on."
"Plagg, claws out."

We both transformed and it left the class gasping. Except for red, Alice, Alya and Nino.

"PAON, WE ARE READY. BUT THE QUESTION IS, ARE YOU?" Adrien screamed.

We both charged towards her. She started creating illusions around her. They were of our past with her and all the times we almost failed.

Oh, she was playing a dirty game. We could play one too.

"Oh you think that would purrvoke us. Well do you remember that those are all the times we almost failed. Yeah. I said almost. Meaning you lost all the time. How is that for purrvoking." Ugh, Adrien and his dumb puns. At least it provoked her and she charged at us.

All I had to do was find the Akuma that was in her. Yes. I said Akuma.

Let me tell you a quick story:
We defeated hawkmoth or Adrien's dad. But before he died, he had made one mire Akuma. He told us,
'This will be the hardest Akuma you will ever fight. It will even take you long to find it. Her name will be Illusionniste de Paon. And she will torment you until you defeat the Akuma inside of her. I know you will do it. This will be the final test I will ever give you. Goodbye.'
And then he died. Those words stuck to us for so long.
I Can't believe that Adrien's dad would give us a final test that he would have to watch from his grave.

Anyways, back to reality. I swung my arm flicking my yoyo towards her feet. It wrapped around her successfully. She tripped. I laughed, she looked like a real fool.

Thats when I saw it. Black dots. My lucky vision was coming into play.

It went from chat's hand to the middle feather of her fan.

I summoned my lucky charm. A white flag. My lucky vision came again. Black spots on my flag. I knew what I had to do.

"Ok, ok, we surrender." I said swinging the white flag. Chat looked at me confused but I looked at him and winked.

I heard a laugh.
"Finally, but why? I thought you never surrender."

"My lucky charm told me to. Tikki told me to."

She laughed again missing the point that it was all a trick.

She came to me and asked me to give the flag. I did so, in the process, snatching the fan out of her hand.

She didn't seem to care.

I turned the fan, ready to rip the middle feather out. But when I turned it, I found a brooch. It was a peacock brooch. In fact, the same brooch that had previously been owned by Adrien's mother before she had disappeared.

I ripped the brooch off the back.

"Chat, cataclysm."

He looked at the brooch and then at de Paon. His eyes widened.
He looked at me. I nodded.
"Cataclysm." He merely whispered.

Once he had summoned it he touched the brooch and it disintegrated.

De paon had watched all this in horror. Thats when I saw it. Her blond hair and green eyes. How did I not see it before? I guess Adrien thought so too.

Before the Akuma could fly away and cause anymore hassle, I caught it with my yoyo.

"No more evil doing for you. Bye bye little butterfly." I whispered.

I took the flag back from Paon, who was on her knees by now.

I threw it in the air not bothering to say my usual phrase. I just watched as black and purple surrounded her and there, was the one person we all thought was dead.

Adrien's POV

"Mom?" I questioned her. After all these years, we were fighting her. And all because of dad.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

"Yes honey. It's me. And I am sorry. Sorry for leaving. Sorry for fighting you. Sorry for everything. I tried to fight it. But I couldn't. It would hurt you in the process. Can you forgive me?"

"Yes mom. In fact I already had forgiven you. As soon as I saw that brooch, I knew it was you. I knew dad akumatized you. It wasn't your fault. I see that now. I'm just glad you are here mom. After you went, the only thing that brought me back to life was Mari. Now my life has just become better. Thank you mom. Thank you for trying to fight it. Thank you for just being alive. "

"Oh son. Come here."

I ran to her. I missed her. Missed her hugs. Her motherly warmth. Her scent. I am just glad that she is back.

She broke the hug and looked at me.

"Son, who is this Mari?" She questioned. I chuckled.
"Marinette is my girlfriend. The most perfect girlfriend." I leaned into my moms ear to whisper," And soon my wife." My mom smirked, knowing exactly what I was talking about.
