6: Invasion

Taehyung felt the ground below him begin to rumble. "Do you guys feel that?" The others look up. The feeling became heavier the closer the sound got. Jungkook whipped his wand out, already lit for attack. "Wait," Beomgyu told him. He shared a knowing look with Huening Kai and the two of them rushed to the front gates, the others weren't far behind.

Namjoon and Jin met them at the front door. "What's wrong-" Jin cut himself off once they opened the doors and saw what had greeted them. His mouth fell open "Th-That's a-"

"H-He's a-"

"Incredible!" Yet again, his friends looked at Taehyung like he was crazy. Why wouldn't they? When standing just outside the palace gates was a giant. He stood hunched over and out of breath before finally dropping to one knee. The ground shook as he did so. His yellow hair was everywhere, his clothes were torn and wounds rested across his face. The assistants stared at his state with wide eyes. "Yeonjun!" Huening Kai called out. He and Beomgyu rushed to his side, ignoring the prince's warning not to move.

"I...I...I couldn't s-stop t-them..." The giant managed to breathe out. He collapsed within seconds. The others nearly fell at the earthquake and dust that came from it. "Is...Is he dead?" Jimin asked slowly.

Beomgyu shook his head. He pressed down on Yeonjun's massive wrist, searching for a pulse. "No...He's just passed out." He told them, relieved. Jungkook called a few servants to bring water. Huening Kai took the buckets and splashed Yeonjun's eyes.

The giant winced and slowly awoke. Jimin, Tae and Jin flinched at the sound of his groan when he finally sat back up. "Beomgyu...Hyuka...?" He muttered.

"We're here Hyung," Huening Kai told him. "What happened?"

Yeonjun's eyes become glossy as he looked away from the group with a sniff. "They...They took Soobin!" He wailed. Beomgyu and Huening Kai took a step back when Yeonjun's tears pour down like rain, and they were quick to avoid the large droplets. "Who took him?" Beomgyu asked.

"I-It...I-t was..." the giant stuttered, not able to say anything.

Jungkook pinched the brink of his nose and groaned. "SPEAK DAMMIT!" He shouted at the top of his lungs. Yeonjun flinched, making both assistants glare at the prince. "Prince Jungkook, please!" Huening Kai scolded. They didn't need the prince making him more upset than he already was.

Jungkook's eye twitched. He was two seconds away from "correcting" the servant boy for raising his voice, however Jimin kept a firm grip on his arm with a strong look advising him not to do anything rash. So Huening Kai continued without any problems.  "Yeonjun Hyung, take your time."

"It was Chanyeol and Baekhyun. Th-They attacked us and took over the base. I am not sure how they managed to find us but they did, and they did not go easy. Soobin told us all to run." Huening Kai shut his eyes with a shaky breath as if holding back painful memories.

"No..." He heard Beomgyu mutter. "And Taehyun?"

"I am not sure," Yeonjun admitted. "The last thing I saw was them tying Soobin down. Taehyun ran back to help but I haven't seen him since...I'm sorry." Namjoon walked over to the giant and pats his leg.

"It's not your fault."

"But it is! If I had just stayed with them, we could have fought them off together!" Yeonjun clutched his arms as the tears began to come back out. The other three quickly moved out of the way to avoid getting wet. There was no consoling him when it came to Soobin, both of his friends knew that. So they just decided to give him some space.

Taehyung spent this time marvelling the sheer size of Yeonjun. He wasn't even at his full height, yet he still towered above them. He found it fascinating and had so many questions he wanted to ask. Jin and Jimin,l on the other hand, were more scared if anything. Jin had added Yeonjun to his Crazy long list of things that can kill me. While Jimin didn't have as long of a list, all he knew was that Yeonjun was now on top of it.

Taehyung looked over at the prince with big eyes but he only shook his head at him. The brunette grabbed his hands and continued to plead, earning a hiss from Jungkook. He had no choice but to give in to those puppy dog eyes of his. "Yeonjun," He called out, earning the giant's attention. "Do you have the ability to shrink to our size?" He shook his head. "To the stables, it is then." Taehyung flashed a boxy grin at the prince, thanking him.

The prince's private stables were far enough that Yeonjun wouldn't bother any locals but close enough for them to keep an eye on him. Beomgyu and Huening Kai quickly thank the prince with a bow then slowly guide their dejected friend away.

"I shouldn't have left Jackson in charge..." Tae heard Namjoon mumble.

Jin turns to him, looking serious. "Why?" He asked in an almost strict tone.

"He is acquainted with Chanyeol and Baekhyung. Besides, leaving anyone else in charge leaves us weak to attacks." The knight explained. "It will be best if the two of us are back in Gwacheon." Jungkook faltered but understood the circumstances.

"I'll have your carriage ready in a few minutes." He told him. Namjoon bowed gratefully.

"Wait but Jin Hyung! You just got here!" Jimin exclaimed, causing Jin's expression softened with a sigh.

"I know, but I'll be back as soon as this is over," He promised. "Don't worry Jimin-ah." Taehyung was surprised by Jin's dedication to his kingdom. It made sense though. It was Jin's nature to take care of other people. Tae didn't blame him for choosing the lives of so many people over a few days with them. Still, it didn't make it any easier to let him go.

"Be safe Hyung," Taehyung told him. Jin gave him a small grin then wrapped him in a hug.

"Same to you," Jin said. "And please, make sure Yoongi's alright." He whispered. Taehyung nodded once he let go. That was still his number one priority - Keeping Yoongi alive. For the time being though, he'd have to trust Hoseok to keep him standing

------------------------------

The prince called all his generals and advisors to come up with a plan against Kai. News of an invasion put all events he had on hold, and he needed all hands on deck to make sure Busan was safe.

While Taehyung was exploring the palace, looking for secrets and spending time in the private library, Jimin was left to worry about Jungkook. Taehyung told him it was best to give him space for a bit so that he could think in peace but Jimin wasn't too fond of that idea. He wanted to be by the prince's side so he wouldn't need to stress alone.

Jimin knew he wasn't supposed to get attached to this place or the prince, but he couldn't help it. There was just something about Jungkook that made Jimin want to get to know him better. He was determined to break him out of that tough shell of his and let his "inner bunny" run free.

He figured now wouldn't be the best time to barge into his meeting room, so Jimin decided to stay in the hall while the prince was busy. He grabbed a book and waited in one of the seats in the hallway. It was at least another hour before Jungkook came out.

The prince spotted him lying lopsided, legs spread, eyes shut and book on the floor. Jungkook sighed at the sight, then smiled. He'd fallen asleep waiting for him. After saying goodbye to generals, the prince walked over to Jimin.

Gently, he put him in his arm's bridal style. "Hello my sleeping beauty," Jungkook moved the hair out of Jimin's. Jimin only stirred in response, pulling himself closer to the prince. "Just as beautiful in your sleep as you are awake it seems."

Jungkook made sure to walk so slowly so he wouldn't wake the angel in his arms. He set Jimin down on the bed once they reached Jungkook's room. He continued to smile down at the blonde. The prince didn't want to leave him, but he knew he had other matters to attend to.

"Wait," A small voice mumbled. Jungkook looked down to see Jimin tugging at his sleeve. "Stay with me?" He asked tiredly.

"Hyung, I must get back to my duties-"

"Please....?" Jungkook was finding it harder to resist. Those tired eyes of his were enough to lull the prince into bed. Jimin gave him a tired yet victorious smile.

Jungkook crawled under the blankets with him, not bothering to remove any clothing. Immediately, a tired feeling began to creep over the prince. He let out a small yawn and curled up to Jimin, letting the realm of sleep take over him.

Taehyung came into the room an hour or so later. Only to find both men asleep in each other's arms. He smiled at the sight. As quietly as could, he slid in next to Jungkook. He huddled up to him, joining them in the hug.

------------------------------

The next day, Taehyung decided to visit Yeonjun since he couldn't help but be at least a little curious about his situation. He had asked Jimin if he wanted to come as well but he told him he'd rather stay with the prince for today. Taehyung knew the real reason was that he was afraid of the giant but there was a chance he genuinely enjoyed Jungkook's company.

He wouldn't be surprised since they were already intimate before Taehyung had gotten into the mix. So who was he to take that away from him? These past few days his own jealously had subsided in favour of a growing affection towards the prince of Busan. His feelings for Jimin had slowly begin to grow as well and though he had yet to act on any of them, he made a plan to confess once this whole mess was near its end.

Beomgyu and Huening Kai were already at the stables by the time Tae got there. The two of them were tending to Yeonjun's wounds while quietly conversing with their enormous friend. Namjoon allowed Beomgyu to stay for a few days to help his friend, something much appreciated by the servant.

Huening Kai noticed Taehyung first and waved at the brunette. He climbed down from the ladder leading to Yeonjun's face and bowed to Taehyung. "My lord, I wasn't expecting to see you." He said politely.

Taehyung looked up at Yeonjun. The giant winced every time Beomgyu cleaned his wound, the assistant mumbling his apologies as he went along. "I wanted to check on Yeonjun," He told Huening Kai.

Upon hearing his name, Yeonjun opened his eyes and looked down at the duo. He started to lean forward, nearly shaking Beomgyu off his shoulder. "Who are you?" He asked tiredly.

"My name is Kim Taehyung! Nice to meet you!" Tae stuck out his hand for Yeonjun to shake yet quickly realised that wouldn't work and awkwardly pulled it back. Yeonjun seemed to coo this. He slowly reached down and wrapped his massive fingers around Taehyung's torso, bringing him to eye level.

Yeonjun tilted his head, getting a good look at Taehyung's features. He didn't seem to register his friends telling him to release the man.

Taehyung glanced at the ground, gasping at how high he wqs and when Yeonjun noticed this he chuckled. He brought him higher earning a literal screech from the brunette. "I like him." Yeonjun laughed. He looked down at his friends with a grin. "Can I keep him?"

"No!" Huening Kai exclaimed. "He belongs to the prince!" Taehyung nearly grinned at that. He belonged to the prince. Seems they were official now.

Yeonjun puckered his lips in a pout, but nodded nonetheless. He rested Taehyung on his head comfortably then leaned on his hand. Huening Kai and Beomgyu both sighed and went back to cleaning the giant's face.

Tae felt like he could see all of Busan from up here. The sun was just beginning to rise, and its golden rays ran across his face, as a crisp wind followed. It was peaceful. Comfortable even. "How do you all know each other? Taehyung finally asked.

"Ah, well we've always lived together," Beomgyu explained. "Huening Kai and I are what some call size shifters. It's pretty self-explanatory. We come from a small group of five. Though we're the only shifters, they still welcomed us with open arms. For the most part the two of us must remain in our respective kingdoms but we visit as often as we can."

Huening Kai nodded along. Satisfied, Taehyung responded with an intrigued hum. "How did you all meet each other then?" The three friends all glanced at each other, one waiting for the other to explain. Eventually it was the maknae who spoke first.

"Through rather...unfortunate circumstances. All of which involving the likes of Chanyeol and Baekhyun. If it is alright my lord, I do not wish to go further than that." Taehyung nodded in understanding and the young brunette responded with a small thank you.

After a a while, Taehyung began to roll a bit on Yeonjun's head, trying to get comfortable which caused the giant to chuckle, eventually breaking the somewhat tense silence. "Humans are odd." He remarked.

"Tell me about it..." Beomgyu muttered. "Yet they get to rule the world? It's unjust." Huening Kai threw a wet rag at his companions face with a scowl.

"Stop it Beomgyu!" The brunette scolded. "Yeah, humans are strange and powerless but you mustn't speak like that when a long line of humans have sat on that throne and so many others!" He pointed to the castle and continued to glare at his friend. "Besides, if not for the human blood you posses, you would not be able to shrink the way you do!"

"Don't let Soobin hear you say that," Yeonjun warned jokingly. "You know how he feels about humans."

Huening Kai scoffed. "You as well..." He muttered low enough for no one to hear while he went back to wiping the blood off of Yeonjun's face. "Let him think what he wants. He is not around to hear, is he?"

Just then, there was a familiar rumbling in the ground. Only this time, much heavier. Taehyung held onto Yeonjun's hair as the earthquakes got closer and closer. Beomgyu and Huening Kai stood wide-eyed. They summoned their weapons in an instant and jumped down to the ground.

Yeonjun got up as well, jerking Taehyung around a bit. "Soobin-ah!" The other giant ran straight towards him, not caring about any of the people or buildings below him. Soobin wrapped his arms around Yeonjun, tackling him to the ground in a hug. The stables nearly collapsed at the impact and Taehyung fell off of Yeonjun with a harsh thud. Huening Kai was quick to his side and pulled him away from the two cuddling giants.

"Are you alright?" Beomgyu asked, rushing over to them. Taehyung grunted in pain but nodded nonetheless. The two assistants looked up at the couple who hug each other with tears in their eyes. "You two went a few days without each other, calm down," Beomgyu mumbled yet it didn't fall on deaf ears.

Soobin glared down at his silver-haired friend and growled. "Beomgyu," The shifter gulped and slowly turned to his leader. "The two of you get up here, now."

"I'm sorry hyung," Huening Kai said apologetically as he pulled Taehyung up and glanced around nervously. "But we need to get him to safety before we can proceed with anything. Come on Beomgyu, we have to get him to the castle before the prince finds out." He tried not to look at Soobin. It felt like a lose-lose situation. Either Soobin punishes him for being disrespectful or the prince takes his head for letting his consort get hurt. He was dead regardless.

"I think he already does..."

Huening Kai cringed, he could already feel the aura of pure anger from the prince.

In a blinding flash of light, Jungkook appeared next to them with Jimin at his side. He didn't look happy in the slightest. "Oh my God, Tae!" The blonde ran over to Taehyung, helping to hold him up. Jungkook noticed the bruise on his arm, his eyes widening in shock, then fury.

"YOU!" Soobin looked away from his partner to glance down at Jungkook, unamused. He only ignored the prince and went to holding Yeonjun, running his hands through his light yellow hair as he whispered sweet nothings in his ear. Jungkook growled at this offence but one quick look at Taehyung showed him what his main priority was. "Taehyung! Hyung, are you alright? Let me see the bruise, I think it's swelling!"

Huening Kai handed Taehyung off to him and bowed to the prince. He didn't dare make eye contact. "Y-Your Majesty, p-please forgive me! I d-didn't intend t-to let him get hurt!" He couldn't help but stutter, he was scared for his life.

"Look at me," The servant kept his head down causing Jungkook glower at him. He grabbed Huening Kai's neck and yanked him to eye level. "I told you to look at me!" The prince shouted. "Why was I not informed that Taehyung had come here?"

"I was not aware he was going to arrive and was distracted. I apologise-" Huening Kai choked on his words as Jungkook squeezed his neck harder.

"Jungkook!" Taehyung yelled. "Stop! It's my fault, not his!" A massive hand came behind Jungkook, pulling him into the air. Soobin held a firm grasp on him, glaring down at the prince irritably. Jungkook hardly had time to comprehend what had happened before the giant began to squeeze the life out of him.

"Stupid pests," The giant muttered. "How dare you grab him like that? You think just because you have magic and a kingdom that you rule the world? Pathetic!" Soobin further tightened his grip making Jungkook cry out in pain. Taehyung and Jimin turned to the shifter frantically for some sort of help.

Huening Kai was still on the ground catching his breath while Beomgyu hesitated to even move. "Soobin Hyung!" He finally called out. "You'll kill him!"

"Choose your side Beomgyu," Soobin growled. "You could crush them in a second yet you choose to serve them? These creatures don't deserve our time."

They could hear a loud crack from Jungkook's body and his agonising screams came to a halt. "No...No no NO!" Taehyung and Jimin had to be held back by the shifters. "Let us go!" Taehyung yelled.

"Shh..." Huening Kai covered Taehyung's mouth, Beomgyu doing the same for Jimin. In their confusion, they didn't notice Jungkook slowly begin to rise. His eyes were alight with the kind of fury they had never seen.

Soobin winced at the bright light emitting from the prince's body and dropped him. But he didn't fall.

"I'm the pest?" Jungkook chuckled darkly. "You oversized maggots have caused more harm today than I have this month." The village was a wreck from Soobin's entrance. Houses fell, stores broke down, and it'd be no surprise if a few people had died. Soobin tried to stand but found his body was frozen in place. The same with Yeonjun. Both giants sat in shock, completely paralysed.

With a single flick of his hand, Jungkook sent them flying backwards. Their bodies crashed to the ground, nearly knocking the others off their feet. Jungkook snapped his broken bone back with a moan as he rolled his neck. "Chanyeol and Baekhyun may have hurt you, but I..." He chuckled once again. "I will show you what true pain feels like!"

Jimin and Tae shut their eyes. They expected to hear the giant's broken bones and blood come right out their bodies, but there was nothing.

Instead, what they saw was Huening Kai, now at his full height, towering above them, the prince cupped in his hands. Beomgyu grabbed the humans and dashed back to the castle, not giving them an explanation until they reached the throne room.

"Beomgyu what the hell just happened!" Shouted Jimin.

"My sincerest apologies!" Beomgyu replied, slightly out of breath. "However we have certain protocols to follow when our lords are not in the best of moods. With the prospect of invasion, Prince Jungkook had a lot of sudden stress on him. The smallest thing would have put him off. Well, in this case, the biggest thing."

"Is he alright?" Asked Taehyung. The assistant nodded.

"He'll be fine. Huening Kai has been with him since his earliest years, he knows how to handle emotional outburst. No need to worry."

"What about Yeonjun and Soobin?" That, Beomgyu was much less sure about. Soobin had practically wrecked half the village and the prince was known for his harsh punishments. Unless they were able to come to some sort of agreement, chances are his leader would end up having his head severed with Yeonjun watching helplessly from the side. Beomgyu couldn't help but cringe at that thought. He could only hope it didn't come to that.

"That isn't for you to worry about," He told the duo softly. Beomgyu could tell they weren't used to this life and the violence that came with it. It wasn't his place to stress them out with the truth. Besides, he didn't want the prince to come for his head for making his consorts upset. "Best leave it to Prince Jungkook to decide. Come, let me take you to your chambers."

------------------------------

That night, Jungkook told Tae and Jimin that they had come to an agreement and that neither Soobin nor Yeonjun would be killed. Which was a huge relief.

Still, the prince seemed extremely irritable. The other two were already in bed when he told them his conclusion but was on his way out right after. "Wait, where are you going?" Taehyung asked. Jimin shifted out of his arms and glanced over at the prince as well.

"I have an invasion to plan for," Jungkook told them. His cold tone shocked them and they quickly sat up.

"Your generals can handle it, can't they?" Jimin questioned. "Come to bed?" Jungkook sent him a glare, shaking his head.

"I do not have time for that!" He snapped. "They say Kai will arrive in two days! I need to make sure Busan is safe!" Jimin flinched and Taehyung was quick to pull him close.

"We understand." He said quietly. Taehyung ignored Jimin's expression of disapproval and nodded the prince off. Jungkook didn't say anything else, wordlessly leaving the room, harshly slamming the door on his way out.

Jimin curled back up to Taehyung with a sigh. "Tae..." He muttered. "I don't want to leave yet..."

Taehyung wasn't surprised. He'd noticed that Jimin was spending more and more time with the prince. Not that Tae minded nowadays. He'd started being around Jungkook as well. They'd sit in the studies, discuss literature, wander the rose gardens. He truly enjoyed his company. Taehyung liked seeing his sweet side. That adorable bunny smile, his little pout when he didn't get what he wanted, his intelligence, every single one of his beautiful features and...

And Taehyung was getting attached. Just like Jimin. Yet that was selfish, especially when Jin was being overwhelmed by magic and Yoongi was still in that damn cell. Why should they get to sit in peace and luxury? "But it's not fair Hyung..." Taehyung responded.

"I know...." Taehyung looked down at Jimin.

"But...?"

"But we can't leave him like this! Stressed and alone! He'd be devastated if he thought we just used him for his wand!"

"Hyung..." That was why they even got close to him in the first place but it was more than that now. They both knew this but Jimin still didn't look Tae in the eye.

"I know I'm being selfish...but love is a selfish feeling" He whispered. There it was. Love. The word Taehyung was hoping neither of them would say. It was the one thing that would keep them there. He wasn't worried about losing Jimin to Jungkook. He was worried about losing Jungkook, period. "I wish it could be simpler," Jimin continued. "Maybe if we had lives before this here, we wouldn't be in this mess..."

Be careful what you wish for.

A muffled cry came from the distance, catching the duo's attention. The two men jumped out of bed and sprinted to the window. Tens of thousands of soldiers surrounded the outskirts of the city. In the centre was one man. Even from the castle, Jimin and Tae could tell he was waiting for a dramatic moment to strike.

They could see Busan's army hastily meet the enemy with Jungkook standing on the balcony just under the bedroom.

"I thought the invasion was supposed to happen in two days?" Taehyung mumbled. It was intentionally misleading. The soldiers were hardly prepared. Two days earlier and at nearly eleven pm, there was no way they were ready.

"I thought so too but...Taehyung...? Is your hair getting...darker?" Jimin's eyes widened. They felt an odd sensation run across their heads. It was almost burning.

"Jimin-ssi...your's is blue..."

"Well, that's just great! We can join the coloured hair club!" He yelled sarcastically. "But what does that mean?" Taehyung shrugged, which wasn't the answer Jimin wanted. The two of them went back to staring out the window, waiting anxiously for someone to make a move.

Time slowed for a moment. The two armies directly apart from each other, no one daring to make a sound. Then, their leads cut straight through the silence. "CHARGE!"

------------------------------

Yoongi could hear the ground shake above. Bits of debris began to chip off the ceiling, nearly hitting him on the head. "Hoseok, what's going on?" He asked worriedly.

Hoseok turned to him, a frantic look in his eyes. "Kai...He got into the castle..." He cursed under his breath. With the guards so unprepared, it was no wonder they got in so easily. Hoseok knew Kai had two goals - and one of them was to get to Yoongi.

The guard unsheathed his sword and in one swift motion, cut the lock to the cell. "Hoseok! What are you-" Hoseok didn't give him time to ask questions, he only grabbed Yoongi's arm and raced out of the dungeons. He ignored the shouting of his officer and the screaming of prisoners, he just needed to get Yoongi out of here.

Yoongi trusted him. Even if he had no clue where they were going. He knew Hoseok wouldn't lead him to death.

Unfortunately, it seemed death was coming straight for him.

Out of nowhere, a soldier slammed their body against Hoseok! Catching him by surprise and knocking him to the ground. "Hoseok!" Another soldier came from behind and grabbed Yoongi. He was too weak to fight back and practically fell limp.

Hoseok propped himself back up, unleashing his sword for attack. But they were already surrounded. "Well well well! If it isn't Jung Hoseok," That voice, Hoseok would recognise it anywhere.

"Kai..." He hissed.

"The one and only. I've come to collect something stolen from me but first, I need to kill the thief." He turns to Yoongi with his dark eyes. He almost sighs at the sight of him, just laying there in the soldier's arms, tired and out of breath. "Oh come now Agust," He leered. "You have no one but yourself to blame."

Kai summoned his weapon. It was a massive black sword with a long, thin blade. Hoseok knew it all too well. It could kill someone in an instant with no hope of recovery, but God be damned he was not going to let that happen to Yoongi. Slowly, he pulled his weapon over. He got just behind Kai, angling his sword at his neck.

However just before he could strike, he was once again grabbed by one of Kai's soldiers. He crippled at the pain in his said yet still tried to stand up right, only for the soldier to push his sword in deeper. "Tsk tsk." He heard Kai say. "You're really that desperate to save him, aren't you?"

Hoseok grunted at the pain surging through his body but still managed to glare at the king. "I...I made a promise that...that I would keep him alive!"

"Is that so?" Kai walked over to the, harshly grabbing his chin with a scowl. "Then I'll make sure you're the first to watch him go."

------------------------------

Taehyung was panicking, Jimin was frozen scared in his arms and someone was trying to ram into the room. The prince still hadn't come to get them and they knew he wasn't the one at the door.

The window was too high above anything to jump so they were stuck. "Tae..." Jimin whispered. "Taetae look at me, we'll be okay."

"W-What if they got Jungkook?" BANG Another crash came from the door, this time they saw it splinter. "What if they got Yoongi?" A fist crashed through making them shriek. "What if they already got Jin!"

They heard someone chuckle from outside and they had a feeling it wasn't Jungkook. "No need to worry loves~" The door finally fell with a group of people behind. Kai, and an incubus.

The incubus had his eyes on Jimin and Kai on Taehyung. The latter smirked at him, it sent shivers down Taehyung's spine.

"I've finally found you V~"
