3: Royals
Jimin and Taehyung quickly got word that Yoongi was going to be executed which put a pretty intense timer on them. They were still trying to figure out how to get out of here and now they had to save Yoongi's life? Add that to the fact that Jin had been sent to an entirely different kingdom doing who knows what, and this prince was, for some reason, infatuated with them! Things were getting more complicated than they needed to be.
All's to say, Taehyung was never working a night shift again.
The prince had gone to see Jin out, so the other two were alone to discuss things. "Tae, What do we do?" Jimin exclaimed. "This guy is weird!"
"He's not weird! He's a historical figure!" He let out an awe struck sigh. "He looks just like his painting." Taehyung still couldn't believe he was here. It was like a dream come true for him! He was always curious about the history of Busan, and the fact that he was here made his mind run wild with theories.
"Focus TaeTae! He is indeed super hot."
"That's not what I said-"
"But we need to stop Yoongi from getting his head chopped off, remember! Why does the prince hate him so much anyway? What did he call him? Agust D or something?"
"Agust D?" He gasped and ran his finger through his hair. "That's right! Agust D was a well-known criminal around this time! He was known as the 'King Slayer'!"
"Really? Why is that?"
"He killed the king and queen of Busan, prince Jungkook's parents. It's why he's ruling at such a young age! It's also rumoured that Agust D killed the king and queen of Gwacheon as well!" Taehyung wracked his brain and tried to recall what few things he studied about this period. All he ever had to go off of were a few paintings and random diary entries.
"If I remember correctly, the prince of Gwacheon disappeared shortly after! He must've been taken by Agust D!"
"So that means Yoongi's being framed for all of that?"
"Well, technically, he wasn't framed since it's still his body-"
"Agh! Whatever! We just need to get him out!" Taehyung thought for a moment. How'd they get here in the first place? "The wand! We need that wand! Then maybe we can-"
The door began to creak open, instantly shutting them up. Prince Jungkook soon sauntered in, looking rather unpleased at the sight of the other two men. "I thought I told you to change."
"O-Oh right! We were just about to!" The two of them grabbed the clothes off the bed. Jimin nearly gagged at the sight of them. He was about to remove his shirt but noticed that the prince was still there. Jungkook just sat perched in a chair, surveying their every movement like a hawk.
"We're about to change," Jimin explained slowly.
"Mhm."
"We're about to take off our clothes...?"
"Yes, I am aware."
"OH MY GOD, YOU CREEP!" Hearing that, that's when Taehyung noticed the prince across from them. He sighed internally, knowing that arguments between him and Jimin were going to be a frequent occurrence.
"Did I not make myself clear?" Jungkook's voice got a little deeper, making him sound much more intimidating. "I said I wanted you. I own you now. Therefore, I own all of you. I can watch if I please." Jimin and Taehyung both cringed at his words. They didn't see much of a choice though. They removed their shirts but were hesitant about their pants.
"We don't have much of a choice," Tae whispered, making Jimin groan. "I promise I won't look."
"We live together," muttered Jimin matter of factly. "I've practically seen every inch of your body. Besides, it's not you I don't want looking."
"Hold it." The prince strolled over to them, examining their every feature. He traced Taehyung's bare chest with one hand and grabbed Jimin from behind with the other. Both yelped at his sudden action but Jungkook remained unphased. "Firm and soft. Yes, these will do nicely."
"YOUR HANDS ARE STILL THERE!"
"Yes...and?"
"Jesus!" Jimin smacked the prince's hand away, making him scoff.
"How dare you!" He glared.
"You said I'm yours right? Well, that means you have to deal with me! All of me!" The prince growled at him. Clearly not a fan of having his own words used against him.
Taehyung stood between them, almost holding them back. "Calm down you two!"
The prince was practically fuming at this point. "I will do as I please! And you will obey me!"
"Why should I? I'm older!"
"I'm taller!"
"Because of your damn three-inch boots! We've been through this you brat!"
"What did I just say? Calm down!" Taehyung yells. He pulled them away from each other and sent both sharp glares making them shut up almost instantly. The other two looked down in shame and Jimin was the first to apologise.
"Right...sorry"
Jungkook followed suit. "Mhm..."
Taehyung just sighed and shook his head. He saw the prince twist his wand, seemingly in thought. That's when an idea struck him. He knew for a fact that no one but royal members was allowed to touch certain jewels and weapons. The best way to obtain it was to get as close to him as possible. "Tae," Jimin mumbled. "you're still shirtless."
"Hm? Right, sorry."
Both Jungkook and Jimin sent him a coy smirk. "I don't mind." They quickly glared at each other, and Jungkook decided he should just back down. "Fine, I shall leave you be. However, if you take any longer you'll regret it!"
"Brat...I hate him," Jimin grumbled once Jungkook left.
"Jimin, I have a plan. But you're not gonna like it."
-------------
Jin had to admit, it was extremely awkward to be in the palace at first. For one: Namjoon was the head guard and his personal knight, which meant he followed Jin everywhere. It didn't help that he had rejected Namjoon without knowing his history with Prince Seokjin. So things were just a bit tense between them.
Another problem was that everyone treated Jin like some sort of dainty flower that couldn't do anything by himself. This may not be his kingdom, but as long as he was around, he was going to be treated like the king he was.
He could only assume that Prince Seokjin wasn't the most assertive of people. Jin couldn't tell if everyone was just worried for him, or if they truly thought he was useless. Either way, it quickly got on his nerves.
"Do you want me to walk you to the throne, my lord?" One of the maids offered. Jin noticed the light blush that dusted her cheeks and raised a brow.
"I highly doubt that's your job," He said bluntly. "Namjoon," He waved the knight over with a look of determination. He was going to sit on that gold chair and prove that Kim Seokjin was no damsel in distress.
The moment he made contact with the throne though, a surge of energy shot through his body. Jin could see each vain in his body pulsing with a horrendous amount of energy. He resisted the urge to scream in pain, held back only by the sensory overload that prevented him to move as purple veins began to pulse up and down his arms.
"What...the HELL...was that!?" He shouted between gasps for air once the painful sensation had finally ended.
Namjoon held Jin's arms in support, making sure he wasn't going to pass out. "It was the power of the previous king and queen running through you," He explained. "Their magic is yours now."
"Magic you say?" He inquired after catching his breath. Seems Taehyung was right about that. Jin only hoped that all the other strange creatures he listed didn't exist alongside it. "Wonderful, maybe I can explore the range of that later."
"Later? Shouldn't you-" Jin shushed him.
"No-no-no. Not yet. I need a few moments to look badass as hell on this throne." Jin adjusted the crown on his head with a smirk. He rested his head in his hand and puckered his lips at Namjoon. "How do I look?"
"Um...very...bold...?" He wanted to perfect, but after yesterday he figured he'd be coming on too strong.
"Bold? I was looking for 'like the most beautiful and handsome man in the world', but that works too, I guess." He shrugged.
Namjoon snickered. This was the farthest thing from the Seokjin he'd grown to know and love. His prince enjoyed studying and reading books. He was quiet, humble...and a vegetarian. The sight of Jin devouring pork had been the most frightening thing Namjoon had seen in the palace to date. But...it was still Jin. Maybe not his Jin, but Jin nonetheless.
The attitude shift was certainly noticeable. Some were happy with it, others not so much. A few people were still asking if he had hit his head, or if he was brainwashed by Agust D but Jin was careful not to entertain them and just pretend as though things were normal. Even if it was far from the truth.
It was surprising, but once he was briefed on everything, Jin slid into the role quite well. Still, his number one priority was to get back to Busan. He just had a million other things to deal with first. Once Jin got comfortable, not a fan of being so surrounded, he waved off his advisors. Leaving only Namjoon, a few maids and the guards left. Good, less people to breathe down his neck and critique him. "So, Namjoon. While I'm here, what should I be wary of? Be straightforward."
"Everything and everyone wants to kill you."
Jin just blinked at him before firmly shaking his head. "Yah, maybe not that straightforward."
"My apologies. Aside from the usual people who want to kill you for the throne, there are also bandits, trolls, poison ivy-"
"Poison ivy? That doesn't sound all that bad."
"It's a snake-like plant that wraps around your body. It slowly squeezes its prey to death as it injects its venom into their system. Eventually taking their life." Namjoon's blunt and matter of fact tone did nothing to ease Jin's worries. In fact it only had the older man feeling worse.
"I- Okay...WHAT!? I thought this was a historical period! Why are these things not around today?"
"My prince, please, keep your voice down." Jin covered his mouth and nodded. Thankfully, no one had really taken notice of their conversation yet.
"Right....Continue."
"Several gangs are looking to take your power. As the only one in line, your throne and powers will be available the moment you're gone. Assassination attempts are being planned as we speak." Namjoon stopped when he noticed Jin shaking in his seat. "Are you alright my prince? You seemed stressed."
"YOU THINK?" Namjoon looked down at him with a smirk. He gently pulled Jin's chin in his direction and leaned in.
"Would you like me to relive some of that stress~"
"Hahahahahahahahahahaha, no." He stood up and took a step back, making Namjoon sigh. Seems he didn't appreciate Jin's 'panic gay' attitude very much.
"Hyung, listen - I must reiterate that you and I are partners. Since you have returned, we have yet to be intimate and others are beginning to notice. They may suspect that something is wrong with our relationship and...take advantage of that. I've already noticed some of the maids making shallow advances, and I refuse to allow it to continue."
"What are- Oh...Oh! Aww Joonie, are you jealous?"
"I-I w-well-" The knight stuttered as he glanced away. Jin could see the red begin to creep across his face and it made him smirk. "No need to worry, Sir Namjoon, I'll make sure to clarify that I've only got eyes for you."
"It's not true though..."
Jin tilted his head in an attempt to look into Namjoon's eyes. "Maybe you're right, but if it makes you this upset I might as well do something about it."
"What do you mean-" He gasped as Jin pulled him down to his level. He wrapped his arms around the knight's neck and connected their lips. Even going as far to slide his tongue in, exploring every inch of his mouth.
"Hm, peaches and cream..." He mused blissfully as he stepped back. Jin couldn't help but chuckled at Namjoon's dazed expression. The older turned to sit down, but the general seemed to have other plans.
"Are you just going to leave like that?" He asked, his voice low and sultry.
"I-I was sorta planning on it?" Jin felt himself melt under Namjoon's hard gaze, but he wasn't going to lie - he kind of liked it.
"I'm not letting you get away that easily, my prince."
------------
Prince Jungkook wandered the rose garden with Taehyung by his side. He needed to get close enough to the prince so he'd trust him to use the wand. What he'd do once he got it...he wasn't too sure. All he knew was that he needed the prince to like him. Better yet, fall in love. However from what Tae had seen, Jungkook had some thick skin and it was going to take a whole lot of effort to get through it. "It's a lovely day." He said, hoping to start some sort of conversation.
"Indeed."
Silence.
"So...tell me about yourself?"
"No."
Silence.
Okay, this wasn't working. Perhaps Tae just needed to be more straightforward. "Why did you take us?"
"I thought it would make Prince Seokjin happy," The prince admitted. "And you two have caught my eye."
"Really? How?" Jungkook just stared at him for a moment, looking him up and down. His dark curly hair, his gorgeous eyes, his sharp jawline, his...pants. He thought about Jimin and how he had the most perfect, round ass the prince had ever seen! His hair, those big lips, his...pants.
Everything about them drove him crazy.
"You two have great personality." Was all Jungkook said before they continued walking.
Taehyung beamed. "Wow, thank you! That means a lot coming from you! You, a prince, just said I have a great personality!" That wasn't the only thing~
"I still can't believe I'm here, to be honest! You're real! This kingdom is real! So is magic! You know a lot of people say this specific era didn't exist and is all fantasy because nothing can be specifically proven today."
It was obvious the prince could care less about whatever it was he was saying, but it didn't stop Taehyung from continuing. "There are hardly any records of it at all! But based on everything, it's safe to assume that it was just a lack of information that deterred people. But I always knew that-"
"Please, don't do that thing, with your mouth."
"You...You mean talking?
"Yes, that. Stop. I beg you."
Taehyung sighed and nodded. Unfortunately for the prince, the silence didn't last very long. "I need to know-"
"Chances are you probably don't-"
"Why did you take both of us?" They stopped once again.
"As I said before, you two interested me. All these other suitors are so...bland and flat! They all just agree with whatever I say to make me happy. It feels as though I'm losing touch with reality. But you two, you've amazed me! You brought back my Hyung, the man who killed my parents, and you... corrected me. No one does that anymore."
Dang it. Taehyung had nearly forgotten Yoongi was on his deathbed. He had to be careful, this prince seemed a little trigger happy with his power. It was best not to mention him for now. "Not only that, but your assets are amazing!"
"Oh! Thanks! I always thought I was useful-"
"The size of Jimin's backside! I'd have to use both my hands to grab that! And you! You're a living piece of art! Nothing by Phidias could compare!"
"Ah yeah, that makes more sense." This was going to take a long time. Tae just hoped Jimin would have better luck with this than he was.
Jungkook had noticed the uncomfortable look on Taehyung's face. It made him cringe. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't enjoy seeing that expression on his face. "Could you...tell me about yourself?" He asked slowly.
"Really?" He almost declined out of spite, but Taehyung figured it'd be easier if at least one of them opened up. Besides, he enjoyed speaking with the prince, albeit to a certain degree. He was just fascinated by his history and the world surrounding him. "Well, my name is Kim Taehyung. I'm an only child, I really love dogs I actually have one of my own! His name is Yeontan, he's super cute with adorable fluffy fur! I wish I could show you-" The prince sent Taehyung a glare causing him to immediately get back to the original point. "And...I work as a....scholar." He wasn't technically lying.
He was working on his history degree alongside a minor in business, but Tae wasn't sure how to put that into terms Jungkook would understand.
Either way the prince didn't seem surprised any of this. "I figured as much based on your useless rambles." He told Tae.
"I'll take that as a compliment." He smiled over at the prince. Jungkook took note of his boxy grin and grinned back. Internally of course. On the outside he just scowled and continued walking forward.
"You know...when I was younger, I wanted to be a rapper." Jungkook looked at him in confusion. "A...A bard." Tae corrected.
"Ah, I see." Jungkook sighed and muttered something under his breath. "Your foreign language is too much for me at times. What kind of distant kingdom did you come from...?" Taehyung still managed to catch it and grinned, shaking his head. Oh, wouldn't he like to know. "But a bard? You? I could never imagine you prancing around to appease the masses."
"Well, I sort of do that now. Granted, just to a smaller degree. I love it nonetheless. I enjoy teaching people new things."
"Mm. Perhaps you can...tutor me at some point?"
"Really? Of course! What are you interested in? We could go over random facts from different periods! The Victorian era especially since it's one of my favourites! I'm not all too sure what you like, but I think-" Jungkook plucked a red rose from one of the bushes. He took in its pleasant fragrance with a happy sigh while Taehyung continued to ramble. The prince glanced at him and rolled his eyes. Taehyung soon stopped mid-sentence when Jungkook handed the flower to him.
His boxy smile slowly crept back onto his face as the brunette took the flower, a light blush creeping onto his face.
"What do you know? It worked. Gifts do make people stop talking."
Of course, that wasn't the real reason he gave it to him. He just wanted to see Taehyung's smile again. He thought it lovely and unique, but Jungkook wasn't going to let him know that.
------------
The dungeon was silent. A little too silent. It had been days since Yoongi had even uttered a word and Hoseok was beginning to wonder if he died in his sleep. "Agust...? Agust, are you still breathing?"
"Unfortunately." Hoseok let out a breath of relief.
"You're never usually this quiet. Or...lifeless. Have you fallen into a depression?"
"What? No....Maybe. Either way, I was just taking a nap." He groaned as he finally sat up.
Hoseok looked at him in disbelief. "It's been three days! How is that napping?"
"You'd be surprised at how long I can go." He chuckled yet it wasn't lighthearted... "Hobi usually tells me the same thing. 'How could you sleep that long? It's not healthy!' I almost wish I'd spent that time with him instead of sleeping. I wonder...I wonder if I'll ever get to see him again..."
The realisation that he was a dead man finally started to sink in. These past three days Yoongi had been rethinking his life, his decisions and the things he wasted his time on. Hobi wasn't one of them.
"Am...Am I not right here?" The guard said quietly. "I know I was cold to you, but there's no need to refer to me as though I'm dead."
Yoongi had nearly forgotten that he was talking to a Hobi look-a-like since the helmet tends to distract from it. "Not you Hoseok, my Hoseok. The one with golden hair, beautiful eyes and a smile that was so bright it made the sun jealous. He was my sunshine."
No, he had to stop talking like this! He was going to get to see his Hobi again no matter what. He just needed to wait a little longer. "That's funny...I would hear Agust describe me in the same way. Nowadays, I just don't believe it. Especially when it comes to my smile."
"Oh? And when was the last time you smiled, Hoseok?"
"Not since he left..." With a sigh, the guard removed his helmet. He shook his hair and moved it out of his face, revealing his dull eyes. They no longer shine with happiness and hope. Only longing and sadness.
Slowly, Yoongi hobbled over to the cell bars. He reached out to Hoseok, hoping to just hold his face. A single tear ran down his cheek as Hoseok rested his head in his hand, holding it with a sigh. "I have to remember that just because you look like him...it doesn't mean you are him," Hoseok told himself.
"Still...If I die, I want yours to be the last face I see." It has only been three days, but it was three days of Yoongi wishing and hoping he could see his friends and Hobi again. He just hoped they were working on some sort of plan.
